拓展提高(课内同源 + 课外同源)
Passage1(课内同源:一封登在校刊上的信)
Dear Miss Chen, / I am writing to thank you for something you probably do not remember. / In Year 5 I was the quietest child in your class. I did not put up my hand, and when you called my name I read the wrong paragraph. In March you gave us a writing task called “A place I know”. I wrote four pages about my grandmother's kitchen, and you read them in front of the class without saying whose they were. / Afterwards you said three words: “You can write.” I have thought about those words for seven years. / I am in Year 12 now, and I still write. Not beautifully, and not every week, but I write. Last month a short piece of mine appeared in the school magazine, and the first person I wanted to tell was you. / I know that a teacher has forty students and cannot remember every sentence. I only want you to know that one sentence of yours travelled a long way. / Thank you. / Yours sincerely, / Li Wei

Passage2(课外同源:我们低估了一句谢谢)
In 2018, two American researchers, Amit Kumar and Nicholas Epley, asked a simple question: when we send a thank-you note, do we guess its effect correctly? / They asked hundreds of people to write a short letter to someone who had helped them, and to predict how surprised and happy that person would feel. Then they delivered the letters and asked the receivers. / The result was a consistent gap. Writers expected the receivers to feel mildly pleased. Receivers felt much happier than that, and they were especially moved by how warm the letter was. The writers had worried most about the wording — whether it sounded awkward — and the receivers barely mentioned the wording at all. / The writers also underestimated one thing: how much the receivers would think about the letter afterwards. Several said they kept it, and a few had put it on the wall. / Kumar's conclusion is unusually practical for a research paper. People do not send thank-you notes because they are afraid of getting the words wrong, and the fear is misplaced. The words matter far less than the sending. / If you have been meaning to write one for a year, the study suggests you are already late.
任务一:单项选择
1.What had the writers worried about most?
A.The wording. B.The postage. C.The handwriting. D.The length.
2.What did several receivers do with the letters?
A.They kept them, and a few put them on the wall. B.They threw them away. C.They gave them to a friend. D.They returned them.
