In the digital age, smart learning has changed the way people learn. It combines technology with study methods to provide personalized learning for students, instead of the same lessons for everyone.
Smart learning platforms can check learners’ schoolwork automatically. They record students’ mistakes and find out what knowledge they have not mastered. According to the information, the system will make special learning plans. Students do not need to spend time reviewing what they already know. They can focus more on difficult knowledge points.
However, smart learning is not perfect. Some students depend too much on online tools to get answers quickly. If they stop thinking on their own, they will lose problem-solving skills. Experts say digital tools are only helpful helpers. They cannot replace learners’ independent thinking.
Smart learning creates new chances for study. But it works well only when students use it in a right way.

A. Prevent all mistakes. B. Finish all homework.
C. Make personalized study plans. D. Replace independent thinking.
44. What does the writer think of smart learning?

I still remember my hometown when I was a child. It was a quiet village with narrow dirt roads. Most people lived in old small houses. There was no hospital or big supermarket. Young people had to leave for big cities to look for jobs, because there were few chances to make money at home.
Ten years have passed. I came back last summer and saw great changes. Wide roads connect our village to the nearby town. Tall new houses stand everywhere. The government built a small health center and a library. A new high-speed railway station opened two years ago. Many young people have returned. They grow fruit and vegetables and sell them online. Some even open small farm restaurants for visitors.
However, the changes also bring small problems. More cars make the air a little dirty. Some old trees were cut down to build new roads. Villagers are trying to protect the environment while developing our hometown. I feel so proud of my hometown. I hope it will become better and better.

Su Shi, also known as Su Dongpo, was one of the greatest writers in ancient China. Besides writing wonderful poems, he was also a kind and brave man.
In his life, Su Shi met lots of hard troubles. He was sent to work in many poor places far away from his home. At one time, he worked in Huangzhou. The life there was hard and simple. But he never lost his hope or gave up his love for life.
When he worked in Hangzhou, he found that the West Lake was in great trouble. Much mud filled the lake. It could not hold enough water, and local people faced the risk of floods. Su Shi decided to do something to change it.
He asked the government for help and organized many workers. They dug out the mud from the lake. Instead of throwing the mud away, they used it to build a long bank across the lake. People called it Su Causeway. It not only helped stop floods, but also became a beautiful place for people to walk and relax.
During the project, Su Shi worked side by side with the workers. He encouraged them and thought carefully about every problem. Even though he met many difficulties, he kept trying his best to help common people.

43. What can smart learning platforms do for students?
A. Prevent all mistakes. B. Finish all homework.
C. Make personalized study plans. D. Replace independent thinking.

Mia Wilson has changed herself greatly through a public reading project over the past two years. Nowadays, she devotes her spare time to reading and sharing books with children living in remote villages.
Two years ago, Mia was shy and lonely. She spent most of her free time on mobile phones and seldom communicated with others. Then she heard about a volunteer activity called Book Warmth from her teacher and she was ready to have a try.
Mia set up her own Book Warmth group and named it “Book Buddies”. It was the name her teacher once used to encourage students to read together. She planned to spend 30 minutes every day reading books and collecting storybooks for village children.
At first, Mia was quite interested and excited. But soon after, she met lots of difficulties. Some families refused to donate books and she had to carry heavy boxes of books alone. Though she wanted to throw in the towel, she kept telling herself small efforts could make a difference. Slowly, she saw positive changes. More people joined her group. She became outgoing and made many new friends. In just two years, her group sent more than 2000 books to village schools. She also held several online reading sharing meetings for kids there.
Now Mia’s team keeps growing every year, with volunteers from different cities. For those who are thinking about joining Book Warmth, Mia offers this saying, “________”

A. Give up B. Fight on C. Have a rest D. Throw towels away
51. Which of the following best shows the changes of Mia’s feelings in paragraph 4?
A. B. C. D.
52. Which of the following can be put in “________” at the end of the text?
A. Practice makes perfect. B. Every coin has two sides.
C. Actions speak louder than words. D. Where there is a will, there is a way.
【答案】50. A 51. B 52. D

【50题详解】
词句猜测题。根据文章第4段“Some families refused to donate books and she had to carry heavy boxes of books alone. Though she wanted to throw in the towel, she kept telling herself small efforts could make a difference.”可知,Mia遇到了诸多困难,后半句表转折,说明她不断鼓励自己坚持,由此可推知划线短语意为“放弃”。
【51题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章第4段“At first, Mia was quite interested and excited. But soon after, she met lots of difficulties... Slowly, she saw positive changes.”

People called it Su Causeway. It not only helped stop floods, but also became a beautiful place for people to walk and relax.

例文
An inspiring person in my life
In my life, the most inspiring person is my grandfather. Though he is in his seventies, he always stays positive and keeps learning new things.
In the past, I used to be shy and gave up easily when facing difficulties in my study. My grandfather always encouraged me with patience and taught me to be brave. Inspired by him, I have changed a lot. Now, I am much more confident and active. I study hard and never give up.
My grandfather has taught me that a positive attitude can help us overcome any difficulty in life. I will follow his example and keep moving forward.
