Passage1（课内同源：过去的电脑与现在的电脑）

Su Mei: What are you reading, Su Wen? Su Wen: An article about the history of computers. In the 20th century, computers were as big as a room, and they were much slower than today's computers. / Su Mei: Unbelievable! What about the price? Su Wen: They were much more expensive, too. Only big companies and universities could buy them. A home computer cost as much as a car. / Su Mei: But now computers are smaller and cheaper. Su Wen: That's right. My new laptop is much lighter than my old one, and it works faster too. It also has a longer-life battery, so I can use it for eight hours. / Su Mei: Technology makes our lives better and better. Su Wen: Yes. And computers will become even smaller and more powerful in the future.
