第一节 (共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
November is often overlooked as December approaches, but it’s an ideal time to arrange an escape from the dull skies of northern Europe. Here’s our pick of the best holiday destinations in November.
Vatnajökull, Iceland
Iceland’s name becomes increasingly accurate in November, as sub- zero temperatures arrive more frequently. This is the best time for tourists to enter into the heavenly world of ice caves — more accurately, glacier caves — as these changing holes need to be safely frozen before they can be explored.
Lanzarote, Canary Islands
Lanzarote provides an amazing break in November. The first week aside, there are few school holidays this month — a bonus for peace- seekers. With gardens designed by the famous Lanzarote architect César Manrique, Meliá Salinas is a big- name resort (度假胜地) with local style, set between two beaches.
Jackson Hole, Wyoming
During the winter, Jackson Hole is a wonderland of snow skiing, snowmobiling and ice- skating. If you’re looking for some fast- paced family fun, try the Alpine Slide, where you can slide down 2,500 feet of Snow King Mountain in a bobsled (雪车). No matter when you’re planning your trip, you should book early.
Vancouver Island, Canada
Part of British Columbia, Vancouver Island was originally the land of the Kwakwaka’ wakw, Nuu- chah- nulth and Coast Salish peoples. Today, the island is valuing the original cultures more and more. Planning means you can take your time seeking out activities that celebrate native people’s culture. Remember that you must order the ferries (渡船)from the mainland ahead of time.
21. Where would tourists preferring quiet destinations like to go?
A. Vatnajökull. B. Lanzarote.
C. Jackson Hole. D. Vancouver Island.
22. What do the last two destinations have in common?
A. They need reservations. B. They have colourful cultures.
C. They are famous for snow sports. D. They are suitable for all the family.
23. Where is the text most probably taken from?
A. A coursebook. B. A survey report.
C. A guidebook. D. A geographical paper.
【答案】21. B 22. A 23. C

Maybe no one forgets their first bicycle and there is no exception to a woman like me. Mine was a Schwinn coaster bike, second-hand, painted a distinctive red and yellow by its previous owner. I remember riding too fast down the big hill on Springfield Avenue. I knew at once that the world was mine to explore.
A couple of years later, when I was 11, my grandmother visited from England, bringing me a bike. It was a shiny dark green, with three gears (齿轮) and hand brakes. As the owner of the first English bicycle my neighbors had ever seen, I was, for a time, almost a star.
Unlike my coaster bike, it was light and responsive — riding it felt like flying. I rode it past big stone houses with their huge yards and trees. I rode past brick row houses. I rode alone and with groups of friends.
That beloved bike went with me to college, carrying me to the library and to classes. Beyond transport, it was often a prop (道具): pushing it along as I walked the college paths made me feel less self-conscious. Somehow, conversation flowed more easily on either side of a bike.
After college, I lived abroad for a time. Returning from London, I discovered to my horror that my parents had sold my bike. They didn’t even know who had bought it.
For years after that, I didn’t have a bicycle that was specifically mine. Teaching in a New England prep school, I simply rode whatever bikes its graduates had left behind. I rode around the little town on bikes which slipped in and out of gear, with brakes that often failed.
I did not take any of those bikes with me when I moved south to the coastal town where I now live. But after a while I missed riding. Finally, on a fall day, I bought a bicycle. Called a comfort bike, it has wider tires than my old bike and seven gears. But it is green — a brighter green bike.
Still, I was a bit apprehensive. I was out of practice and a lot older. I brought the bike home and put on my helmet — I’d never worn a helm et before. Then I got on the bike. After a tentative, slightly shaky start, I fell exactly as I was on that long- ago day on Springfield Avenue: free. Soon I was riding along. It seemed that everyone I passed smiled and waved or called out, “Great day for a bike ride!” And I knew they all remembered their first bike and how it had set them free. I wanted to call back to them, “I still can!”
24. According to the article, the author’s beloved bike _______.
A. was a red and yellow coaster bike
B. made her the envy of all her friends
C. was her birthday gift from her grandmother
D. made her shy and awkward at times at college
25. While pushing the English bike along, the author _______.
A. felt bored B. felt special
C. became talkative D. became lost in thought
26. When she was teaching at a prep school, the author _______.
A. didn’t like her once- beloved bike
B. got out of the habit of riding bikes
C. wasn’t picky about the bikes he rode
D. rode bikes that had been recommended to her by graduates
27. What was the author’s main purpose in writing this article?
A. To describe the different bikes she has been riding alone.
B. To recall the joy and freedom she has enjoyed thanks to riding.
C. To inform us of the fun and benefits of riding bikes with others.
D. To tell us about how she grew up through her riding experiences.
【答案】24. B 25. C 26. C 27. B

I wanted to call back to them, “I still can!”(似乎我经过的每个人都微笑着挥手,或者喊着说,骑车的好日子!
C
Two friends are seated in a busy restaurant. They acknowledge it has been “too long” since they last caught up. Then a tense silence follows. One friend asks, “So, how are you?” Such a simple question weighs heavily on the other. She forces a smile and replies, “I’m fine. How are you?”
The strange part is that she doesn’t say it intentionally. “Fine” seems to arrive on its own before she even questions if it’s true. For many of us, being “fine” is a reflex, like pulling our hands back from something hot before we feel the pain. This behavioral pattern sticks because it works, at least on a surface level. It keeps the childhood dinner table calm, or a boss from further asking personal questions. “Fine” creates a boundary without us having to voice the need for space.
There is a trade-off, of course. “I’m fine” isn’t so much a lie. Rather, it’s a stand-in for something more authentic (真实的) and complicated. Often we lack the time, safety or language to name what is under “fine”. The reflex to be “fine” becomes so automatic that rarely does anyone get a real answer, including ourselves.
This “I’m fine” reflex is seldom built in a single event. Instead it’s incubated in moments when “fine” keeps things working: with easily stressed parents, or in a household where no one truly cares to listen when asking “how are you”. None of the exchanges has to be dramatic to leave a mark; enough repetition tells the nervous system that honesty here is unsafe or unwanted.
Fortunately, once identified, the reflex can be changed — just a brief pause (暂停) before saying “fine”. In that pause, you don’t even have to voice the truth to break the habit; start simply by noticing the gap between the automatic answer and the real one. Then start with one low-pressure person, like a friend, to practise honest replies before opening up to others.
28. Why does the author mention the two friends in paragraph 1?
A. To share communication skills. B. To give a reason for small talk.
C. To introduce a response pattern. D. To illustrate the safe social distance.
29. What can we infer about the “I’m fine” reflex?
A. It allows people some personal space. B. It is a white lie meant to hide bad moods.
C. It does more harm than good in daily life. D. It efficiently expresses complicated emotions.
30. What does the underlined word “incubated” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Hidden. B. Replaced. C. Developed. D. Discovered.
31. What is suggested in the last paragraph?
A. Questioning the honesty of others. B. Sharing pressure with trusted friends.
C. Avoiding simple answers in conversations. D. Examining automatic replies before speaking.
【答案】28. C 29. A 30. C 31. D
【解析】
【导语】本文深入剖析了人们在被问“你好吗”时习惯性回答“我很好(I’m fine)”这一普遍社交现象,探讨了其形成原因、潜在代价以及改变方法。
【28题详解】
推理判断题。根据第一段“One friend asks, “So, how are you?” Such a simple question weighs heavily on the other. She forces a smile and replies, “I’m fine. How are you?”(其中一位朋友问道:“那你怎么样?”这个简单问题让对方感到沉重。她强挤出一丝微笑,回答道:“我挺好的,你呢?”)”可知,作者在第一段中提到两位朋友的原因是为了介绍一种回应模式。
【29题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段“It keeps the childhood dinner table calm, or a boss from further asking personal questions. “Fine” creates a boundary without us having to voice the need for space.(它能让童年时的餐桌保持平静,也能让上司不再追问私密问题。“挺好的”创造了一种界限,而我们无需明确表达自己需要空间。)”可知,“我很好”这一句回答为人们提供了一些个人空间。
【30题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第四段“This “I’m fine” reflex is seldom built in a single event.(这种“我挺好的”的反应,通常并非源于单一事件。)”和“moments when “fine” keeps things working: with easily stressed parents, or in a household where no one truly cares to listen when asking “how are you”(那些说“很好”就能让事情维持运转的时刻:面对容易焦虑的父母,或是在一个问“你怎么样”却没人真正愿意倾听的家庭里)”可知,“I’m fine”这句话不是在单一事件中养成的,而是在“说‘很好’就能让事情维持运转”的时刻养成,incubated的意思是“养成”,和developed意思相近。
【31题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段“In that pause, you don’t even have to voice the truth to break the habit; start simply by noticing the gap between the automatic answer and the real one. Then start with one low-pressure person, like a friend, to practise honest replies before opening up to others.(在那个停顿里,你甚至不必说出真相就能打破这个习惯;先从留意自动化回答和真实回答之间的差距开始。然后从一个让你感到压力小的人(比如朋友)开始,练习诚实的回答,之后再向其他人敞开心扉。)”可知,最后一段建议在说话前检查自动化回答。
D
The ability to detect a nearby presence without seeing or touching it may sound fantastical — but it’s a real ability that some creatures have. A family of African fish known as Mormyrids are weakly electric, and have special organs that can locate a nearby target, even when it’s hiding in the mud. Scientists have now developed an artificial sensor system modelled on the ability of these fish.
“We developed a new strategy for 3D motion positioning by electronic skin, bio-inspired by ‘electric fish’”, says Dr. Xinge Yu, an associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong. The team described their e-skin sensor in a paper published on November 14 in Nature.
The artificial sensor is multi-layered. One layer acts as a transmitter (发射器), which will generate an electric field once activated, and another layer acts as a receiver to detect both the direction and the distance to an object. A separate controller creates the driving signal to activate the transmitter. When an object comes within range, the electric field around the sensor is disrupted (扰乱), which in turn can be detected by the receiver. This data is then processed by a micro controller unit, which computes the position of the target object and sends that information to a smartphone or other devices.
A special biogel (生物凝胶) is used in the sensor, which has the ability to transmit and receive electric signals from a pattern of micro channels on the surface. The end result is a sensor that is thin, soft and flexible, making it cosy to adapt to irregular surfaces, such as the human body. In contrast to the traditional sensor system that needs a large number of sensors to achieve spatial positioning, the new system can locate an object precisely in 3D space using just a few sensors. This significantly reduces the power consumption of data collection, transmission, and processing.
The researchers hope that this sensor could one day open up a new range of wearable technologies, including sensors for human-machine interaction and thin, flexible e-skin.
32. What does paragraph 1 aim to show?
A. the special ability of African fish. B. the inspiration for a new invention.
C. the big challenge of locating objects. D. the reason for developing a sensor.
33. What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us about the sensor?
A. Its development process. B. Its operating mechanism.
C. Its main layers. D. Its environment impact.
34. What is an advantage of the new sensor system?
A. Its sensitivity to different stimulations. B. Its adaptation to environmental changes.
C. Its efficiency in achieving 3D positioning. D. Its speed in data collection and processing.
35. What is the best title for the text?
A. Machine Detective “Wears” Flexible E-skin
B. Bio-inspired Sensor “Feels” Without Touching
C. E-Skin Sensor: The Future of Machine Learning
D. Electric Fields: The Frontier of Object Detection

Have you ever noticed that some songs start with a “one, two, three, four”? You can hear it in songs by artists like The Beatles, OutKast, and Taylor Swift. ___36___ They count (aloud or in their heads) to make sure that they all start the song together and everyone stays on the same beat.
___37___The steady beat of a song is one pattern, but there are others, like the distance between notes. Notes in music form patterns by their distance from each other, and when played together, some notes sound better due to these mathematical relationships.
In written music, musicians use fractions(分数) to understand the rhythm. Such fractions, like 4/4, show how many beats are in each measure and which notes get one beat. ___38___ For example, in 4/4 time, a whole note lasts for four beats, a half note for two, and a quarter note for one. Smaller notes, like eighth and sixteenth notes, are fractions of a beat.
Research shows that students who play an instrument often perform better on math tests, but scientists are not sure why. ___39___ Or it could be that students who play music tend to go to good schools or have support at home.
Music is great for the brain. Playing an instrument engages multiple parts of the brain at once-seeing, hearing, and touching all come together in real time. ___40___
Music might help you with math. Math might help you with music. But whether or not they do, we can have fun learning both!
A. Music is full of patterns.

根据上文“Have you ever noticed that some songs start with a 'one, two, three, four'?(你有没有注意到有些歌曲是以‘一、二、三、四’开头的?)”以及下文“They count (aloud or in their heads) to make sure that they all start the song together and everyone stays on the same beat.(他们(大声或在心里)数数是为了确保他们都能一起开始演奏歌曲,并且每个人都能保持相同的节拍)”可知,前文提到歌曲开头的数数现象,后文解释了这么做的原因,所以这里应是对为什么要数数提出疑问,与B项 “But why are they counting?(但是他们为什么要数数呢?)” 表达的含义一致,故选B项。
【37题详解】
根据下文“The steady beat of a song is one pattern, but there are others, like the distance between notes. Notes in music form patterns by their distance from each other, and when played together, some notes sound better due to these mathematical relationships.(歌曲稳定的节拍是一种模式,但还有其他模式,比如音符之间的间距。音乐中的音符通过它们彼此之间的距离形成模式,当一起演奏时,由于这些数学关系,一些音符听起来更好)”可知歌曲稳定的节拍是一种模式,但还有其他模式,可推理出后文重点在阐述音乐中存在多种模式,这与A项“Music is full of patterns.(音乐充满了各种模式。)”表达的意思相符,起到总领下文的作用,故选A项。
【38题详解】
根据上文“In written music, musicians use fractions (分数) to understand the rhythm. Such fractions, like 4/4, show how many beats are in each measure and which notes get one beat.(在乐谱中,音乐家们使用分数来理解节奏。像4/4这样的分数,表示每小节有多少拍以及哪些音符占一拍)”以及下文“For example, in 4/4 time, a whole note lasts for four beats, a half note for two, and a quarter note for one. Smaller notes, like eighth and sixteenth notes, are fractions of a beat.(例如,在 4/4 拍中,一个全音符持续四拍,一个二分音符持续两拍,一个四分音符持续一拍。更小的音符,如八分音符和十六分音符,是一拍的几分之一)”可知,上文提到用分数理解节奏,下文举例具体说明音符和分数之间的对应关系,所以此处应是强调音符和分数之间存在联系,与G项“There is also a connection between notes and fractions.(音符和分数之间也存在联系。)”表达的含义一致,故选G项。
【39题详解】
根据上文“Research shows that students who play an instrument often perform better on math tests, but scientists are not sure why.(研究表明,演奏乐器的学生通常在数学测试中表现更好,但科学家们不确定原因)”可知上文提到了演奏乐器的学生通常在数学测试中表现更好,但科学家们不确定原因,可推理出下文要对出现这种现象的原因进行可能性的推测,与C项“It might be that music helps with math.(可能是音乐有助于数学学习。)”表达的意思相符,是对前文现象原因的一种推测,故选C项。
【40题详解】
根据上文“Playing an instrument engages multiple parts of the brain at once - seeing, hearing, and touching all come together in real time.(演奏乐器能同时调动大脑的多个部分——视觉、听觉和触觉都能实时结合在一起。)”

Reconnecting with Reality
Hello, everyone! Today, let’s talk about our holiday social life. While AI software offers endless entertainment, a worrying trend has emerged. Many of us are becoming “digitally isolated”, spending more time chatting with AI assistants than with real friends.
This virtual dependency, however, can never replace a warm hug or the joy of a game. Therefore, I’m calling for a change. Put down your phones. Walk out of your rooms. Meet people in person. Instead of staring at screens, try to feel the beauty of a real conversation.
It’s time to leave the cold code behind. Let’s make our holidays human again!
Thank you!

67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Chen Ming had always been eager to volunteer. When his school organized a weekly reading program at Sunshine Nursing Home, he immediately signed up. Every Saturday morning, he would arrive with a bag full of books, ready to spend the day reading to the elderly residents. Most welcomed him warmly — some even saved their favorite stories for his visits. But there was one exception: Grandpa Zhang, a retired mathematics teacher who stayed alone in his room and refused to join any activities.
During his first few visits, Chen Ming tried various approaches. He brought books on mathematics, offered to play chess, and attempted to chat about current events. Each time, Grandpa Zhang waved him away without even looking up, saying, “I don’t need company. Leave me alone.” Mrs. Liu, his neighbor, told Chen Ming that Grandpa Zhang used to be the happiest man in the nursing home, playing chess every afternoon with his wife. Since she passed away six months ago, he had withdrawn from the world. “It’s like the light went out of him,” she sighed.
One rainy Saturday, with most residents resting indoors, Chen Ming wandered through the garden and noticed Grandpa Zhang sitting alone at a stone table. An old chessboard lay on the table, the pieces arranged in a mid-game position. The elderly man was moving them silently, playing both sides by himself, his fingers trembling slightly as he handled each piece. Chen Ming stood at a distance, watching. The old man was completely focused on the game, yet his eyes carried a sadness that was hard to miss. Chen Ming’s heart ached at the sight — he could feel the loneliness in every move.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

【答案】One possible version:
Gathering his courage, Chen Ming approached Grandpa Zhang and asked quietly, “May I play with you?” Grandpa Zhang looked up, surprised. He seemed ready to refuse. But then something in his eyes softened. “Sit down,” he said coldly. “But don’t expect me to go easy on you.” They played three games that afternoon. Chen Ming lost each one, but Grandpa Zhang was slowly warming up. When Chen Ming made a clever move in the third game, Grandpa Zhang nodded. “Not bad. Come back next week—I’ll teach you properly.”
Weeks passed, and a real smile finally appeared on Grandpa Zhang’s face. The garden had become their regular meeting spot. Every Saturday, Grandpa Zhang had the chessboard ready and tried to teach Chen Ming strategies patiently. Between moves, Chen Ming chatted about the weather or asked about Grandpa Zhang’s teaching days. Other residents would smile, surprised to see the once-lonely man so lively. When Chen Ming won his first game, Grandpa Zhang laughed and patted him on the shoulder. “You’re learning fast,” he said warmly. Chen Ming smiled back, knowing Grandpa Zhang had found his way back to the world.

B

C. To inform us of the fun and benefits of riding bikes with others.
D. To tell us about how she grew up through her riding experiences.

B. But why are they counting?
C. It might be that music helps with math.
D. This makes music excellent mental exercise.
E. Sometimes we play more than one note at a time.
F. In fact, math is behind almost everything in music!
G. There is also a connection between notes and fractions.
