house into a hotel for foreign tourists. The hotel provides international education projects
for European and American schools. It also opens 50%of its room to the public, creating a
place for more people to communicate with the villagers. It offers free English classes to
villagers once a week.
When talking about his future plans,Mr Linden said he wanted to do more to share the

China.”

Trees are important to life on Earth. They take in and store CO2,support animals, hold soil
in place, manage water cycles (),and provide people with resources such as wood, food,
and cooling shade during hot weather. However, forests around the world are facing a great
change.New research shows that many forest ecosystems are becoming more similar, losing
biodiversity(生物多样性),and growing weaker..
By examining more than 31,000 tree species across the world, scientists were able to map
how forests are likely to change in the coming decades ()Their job focused on changes in
species makeup,.long-term stability(稳定性),and how forests play a role as ecosystems.
The study found the number of fast-growing tree species is becoming increasingly large.
At the same time,slower-growing trees face a growing risk of disappearance.Jens-Christian
Svenning,a senior writer of the study, points especially to the danger faced by:trees that live
only in certain small.areas of the world.According to Svenning, these trees often have thick
leaves, heavy wood, and long lives, and they are especially common in rainforests.
If climate change continues at present levels, forests are likely to prefer fast-growing trees.
"Although they can grow well in a short time, they are more easily hurt by drought
),storms, and other unusual weather events. This makes forests less effective at storing CO2
over the long term,"says Svenning.
According to the researchers, human actions are the main force behind these changes in
forests.Human-driven climate change,deforestation(),and the world's trade in tree species
all play a role.Fast-growing trees are often actively promoted (because they produce
wood quickly. But they are often weaker and easier to get sick.So the management of forests
needs to change.

B.The importance of trees to human life.
C.The danger faced by fast-growing trees.
D.The ways to improve forest management.

Over the past ten years,China has achieved excellent development, and its high-speed
railway system stands out as a clear example. On December 26,2025,the Xi'an-Yan'an
high-speed railway started services. The opening of this line has brought China's high-speed
railway mileage (to over 50,000 kilometers. This means China's operating high-speed
railway mileage is more than twice the total length of all other countries in the world.
Today, the high-speed railway network covers 97%of Chinese cities with a population of

500 kilometers takes only one to two hours, and a 1,000-kilometer journey takes about four
hours. An average of 16 million passengers take high-speed trains every day. This is a far cry
from the past, when buying train tickets during busy seasons was a headache and the average
train speed was only 60 kilometers per hour.

tourism and local industries.For example,since the Hangzhou-Changsha high-speed railway
opened in 2014,the number of tourists to Jiangxi has increased greatiy.

At Shanghai Hongkou Library, there is a guestbook where readers can write their thoughts.
Some people say the air conditioning is too cold.Others mention noisy children in the reading
room. Some talk about the water quality or lack of toilet paper.
What's special is that every message gets a reply from the library staff ().A blogger
shared this online, and the video quickly got thousands of likes and comments.
People love it because the library listens. It shows that good public service isn't just about
money or big plans-it's about caring about people. The library moved the guestbook from the
front desk to a quiet corner. In this way, readers can write freely without feeling watched.
The staff check the book regularly. When someone writes a message, they send it to the
right department and write back.
Some ideas are used right away. For example,a reader suggested adding chairs in the
eating area,and the library did it.When they can't do something,they explain why.For
example,they won't add a microwave because it's not safe.
This simple guestbook shows the warmth of the city.It proves that what really matters is
whether people feel seen and heard.
