W: Hey, Sam. This is Anne speaking. I just found out I have a meeting that runs a bit late, so I won’t be able to make it to Royal Curry Cafe by 7:00 p.m. But I’m free the whole Saturday. We can dine together tomorrow if you like.
M: Oh, I’ve planned to go to the British Museum tomorrow. Can we move it to 8:00 p.m. today?
W: 8:00 p.m. is OK. But my meeting may not end until 7:30 p.m., and Royal Curry Cafe is far from my office. Could we meet at Saffron House instead?
M: Sure. Let’s meet there in 3 hours.
W: Perfect.
听第7段材料,回答第8至10题。(Text 7)
W: John, do you have any plans after work today?
M: Well, it’ll be the Lantern Festival tomorrow, so I’ll drop by the supermarket near our company to buy yuanxiao.
W: I remember you bought a bag of that last weekend online.
M: Yes, but that bag of yuanxiao has already been eaten up by my daughter. She has eaten yuanxiao every morning in the past few days. She has a sweet tooth and loves yuanxiao filled with strawberry jam. This time, I’ll get some with peanut butter for my wife and blueberry jam for myself.
W: You know, I’ve been in China for half a year or so, but I’ve never had yuanxiao. Is it really that good? I heard it can be boiled, fried or steamed — each way gives it a different flavor.
M: Yep! But we eat yuanxiao not just because it’s delicious. The round shape of yuanxiao symbolizes family togetherness. We believe that eating yuanxiao may bring the family harmony, happiness and luck in the new year.
听第8段材料,回答第11至13题。(Text 8)
W: David, have you picked a school club yet?
M: I’m considering two, actually. One is the Art Club — they meet every Friday after school. The best part is you don’t even need to be good at drawing; they totally welcome beginners!
W: Sounds chill. What’s the other one?
M: The Photography Club. You learn how to take creative shots and edit them, plus it kind of changes the way you see things.
W: How about the costs?
M: Art Club is free, but for Photography you’d need your own camera, so that’s an extra expense.
W: Got it. Both sound like they encourage creativity, though.
M: Yeah, but since I’m new to clubs, I’ll go with Art this term. Maybe I’ll try photography next semester!
W: That makes sense! I’ll go with you, too.
听第9段材料,回答第14至16题。(Text 9)
W: Good afternoon! How may I help you?
M: Good afternoon. I’m Donald Megill. I booked a single room for tonight. Here’s my ID card.
W: Just a second, sir. Let me check. I’m sorry, Mr. Megill. There’s no record of a reservation under your name for today. But I see that you’ve booked a room for tomorrow night, which is July 8th.
M: Oh, really? That’s strange. I’m sure I booked the room for tonight. Here is the order page.
W: Okay. I guess there was a system error when your booking request was processed. We’ve had similar issues before... Whatever the case might be, I sincerely apologize for the mistake, Mr. Megill.
M: That’s too bad. Is there anything you can do to help me get a room for tonight?
W: Yes. Would you like to stay in a double room? Our single rooms are fully booked for tonight. We can give you a 20% discount on the room rate.
M: Alright.
W: Well, here is your room card and ID card. And you can have breakfast in the dining room on the third floor with your room card.
M: OK. By the way, I want a morning call tomorrow.
W: What time would you like to set?
M: 7:00 a.m.
W: No problem.
听第10段材料,回答第17至20题。(Text 10)
W: Do you like listening to music, dear listeners? If so, you should listen to today’s program carefully. In fact, you don’t just listen to music with your ears. The areas of your brain responsible for emotions and memory also become active while you’re listening to music. We all know music can bring back our memories and make us feel sad or happy, but we wonder whether it could also change the emotional content of existing memories. Some scientists developed a three-day experiment to test whether music might introduce new emotional elements into the original memory. On the first day, participants memorized a series of short stories. The next day, they recalled these stories while listening to either positive music or negative music. And the scientists recorded their brain activity with a machine, which measured brain activity by detecting changes in blood flow. On the final day, participants recalled the stories again, this time without any music. Surprisingly, the results showed that when participants listened to emotionally charged music while recalling the stories, they were more likely to include new emotional elements in the stories that matched the mood of the music. For example, the stories recalled with positive music in the background were later remembered as being more positive, even when the music was no longer playing.

I'm considering to actually one is the art club they meet every friday after school. The best part is you don't even need to be good at drawing. They totally welcome. Beginners sounds chill. What's the other one? The photography club. You learn how to take creative shots and added them, plus IT kind of changes the way you see things. How about the costs? Art club is free, but for photography, you'd need your own camera so that an extra expense got IT. Both sounds like they encourage creativity though. Yeah but since two clubs, i'll go with art this term. Maybe i'll try photography next semester. That makes sense. I'll go with you too. David, have you picked a school club yet? In fact, you don't just listen to music with your ears. The areas of your brain responsible for emotions and memory also become active while you're listening to music. We all know music can bring back our memories and make us feel sad or happy, but we wonder whether IT could also change the emotional content of existing memories. Some scientists developed a three day experiment to test whether music might introduce new emotional elements into the original memory. On the first day, participants memorized a series of short stories. The next day, they recalled these stories while listening to either positive music or negative music. And the scientist recorded their brain activity with a machine, which measured brain activity by detecting changes in blood flow. On the final day, participants recalled the stories again, this time without any music. Surprisingly, the results showed that when participants listened to emotionally charged music while recalling the stories, they were more likely to include new emotional elements in the stories that matched the mood of the music. For example, the stories recalled with positive music in the background were later remembered as being more positive even when the music was no longer playing. Do you like listening to music?
