六、阅读理解

Dreams are powerful. They give us direction, purpose and hope. Without dreams, life would be like a ship without a sail, drifting aimlessly. Throughout history, many great people have achieved extraordinary things because they never gave up on their dreams.

One such person is Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb. Edison failed over a thousand times before he succeeded. But he didn’t see these failures as defeats. Instead, he said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” His perseverance and positive attitude eventually paid off, and his invention changed the world.

Another example is J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series. Before she became famous, she was a single mother living on welfare. Her manuscript was rejected by 12 publishers. But she believed in her story and kept trying. Today, she is one of the most successful authors in history.
