范文
I approached his desk, my heart heavy with curiosity and concern. “Whose hand is it, Lucas?” I asked softly. “It's yours, Miss White,” he whispered, looking away shyly. His words hit me like a wave, washing over me with an unexpected depth of emotion. In that moment, memories flooded back—— times when I had taken his hand to guide him through a lesson, or to comfort him when he seemed lost and alone. It turned out that Lucas was most thankful for MY hand, the hand that had guided him, comforted him, and shown him that he wasn't alone. His simple yet powerful gesture of gratitude brought tears to my eyes.
The next day, I made sure to stay close to Lucas, lending a hand whenever possible. During story time, I let him turn the pages as I read. When he slipped his hand into mine,I gave it a gentle squeeze. His eyes met mine, and for the first time, I saw not sadness, but happiness. Gradually, his movements seemed less hesitant, his posture a little less tense. During recess, he made his first attempt to join the other children.Watching him tentatively interact with his classmates, I felt a swell of warmth in my chest. Thanksgiving Day came and went, but Lucas's drawing remained pinned to the wall, a silent testament to the impact of a teacher's hand.
听力部分录音稿
(Text 1)
W: Good evening, sir. Here is the menu. Would you like to order now?
M: Yes, but I'm in a rush. Can I be served and out of here in half an hour?
(Text 2)
W: Look, Bill. There's no way we can paint the whole house ourselves. I think we should have a professional do it.
M: But Natalie, if we do it, we can save a lot of money. I'd rather spend the money on new furniture.
(Text 3)
W: So, tell me, sir, when did you notice the problem with your arm? I will examine it later.
M: I was having dinner at a restaurant with my wife last night. I suddenly felt a sharp pain.
(Text 4)
W: Excuse me, sir. My baggage is badly damaged.
M: I am sorry to hear that. You have to fill out a paper form.
W: Where can I get it?
M: Here you are.
(Text 5)
M: Our research project involves testing on new laboratory materials.
W: Well, we must get permission first.
M:I see. Do you know which department we should present the proposal to for review?
(Text6)
M: Hello, Grace. What are you going to do tomorrow?
W: Nothing special. I'm planning to visit a Chinese painting exhibition at the gallery. Why do you ask?
M: Well, my uncle will take me to Disneyland tomorrow. Since you told me last year you really looked forward to a fascinating trip there, I wonder if you want to go.
W: I’ d love to, but I can't afford such a trip.
M: Don't worry about the money. My uncle will pay for it.
W: That's great. I' ll go.
(Text 7)
M: Thanks for taking the time to come, Rita. We’d like to know more about your work experience.
W: Alright. The subject I was teaching at the art college was classical painting. The class focused on French artists from the 18th century. I had three classes. Half of the time I was teaching theory, and the other half I helped them practice drawing. There were two semesters in a year, three exams for one semester, plus one final test at the end of the year.
M: Were there any foreign teachers?
W: Yes, there was one teacher called Lily from Sweden, and she taught Russian art. Besides her, there were only ten full-time teachers altogether, plus three part-time ones who only worked in the first semester.
(Text8)
W: What's that you' re looking at, James?
M: I’m on Q-Post. It’s a social media platform. People share short posts, photos, and videos.
W: I’ve never heard of it. What's different about it?
M: It focuses on quick updates. Posts can only be 200 characters long.
W: Can anyone post anything?
M: Not quite. Q-Post has rules. People can't post harmful content. If someone breaks the rules, their post gets removed. If they do it often, their account might be blocked.
W: How do people find posts they like?
M: They follow users or search for topics. Q-Post suggests posts too.
W: Do people talk to each other there?
M: Yes, but only in the comments.
W: Do posts stay there forever?
M: No. Some platforms keep posts for a year and even forever, but Q-Post removes them in 30 days.
W: Sounds interesting.
(Text9)
W: Hi Mark! What brings you to Hangzhou?I thought you were still in London!
M: Hi Li Na! I'm here for a three-week study tour on Asian cultures. China is my first stop, and I really hope to understand Chinese culture better.
W: That's wonderful! Do you have anything specific in mind to try?
M: Yes, I’ve always been curious about Chinese calligraphy. It looks so beautiful. Is it hard to learn?
W: It takes practice, but it's very meaningful. My grandfather is actually a calligraphy teacher. How about visiting him at home this Saturday morning? He would love to show you.
M: That's so kind! Speaking of traditions, I've read a lot about the Spring Festival—like the family reunions and making dumplings.
W: You' re well-prepared! It's coming up next month. If you' re still here, you could join my family. We make dumplings and watch TV together to celebrate.
M: I'd be honored! That's exactly the kind of real, warm family experience I was hoping for.
(Text 10)
Today I'd like to introduce you to one of the most remarkable composers of our time: TanDun.
Tan Dun is a true pioneer in blending Eastern and Western musical traditions. Tan started out as a musician for the Peking Opera. However, he fell in love with Western classical music and began writing classical Western operas that show a strong touch of Chinese music. Like his operas, the scores for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero use Chinese musical instruments and styles in a Western classical music score. The music follows all the rules of most film scores——its purpose is to tell you how to feel about the action in the film and to help tell the story. However, perhaps because of his classical music background, his scores can stand alone as works of art without needing a film to support them. His most famous achievement came in 2001 when he won the Academy Award for Best Original Score, becoming the first Chinese composer to win an Oscar.
In short, what I admire most about Tan Dun is his belief that music can come from anywhere and that East and West can speak the same musical language.

While doing the research, I traveled to three of the world’s most honored cultures—the Maya, Inuit and Hadzabe, and describe what I found in my new book—Hunt, Gather, Parent.(在过去的四年里,我一直很想知道这些父母是如何培养孩子的这种乐于助人的精神的?

Feel like a family day trip outside London? Here are some of the best choices.
Harry Potter Studio
The Harry Potter Studio tour is one of the easiest day trips from London. Just read the directions on the website where you buy tickets and follow the crowds from the train to the bus. It is a unique experience. A walk through the studio allows families to appreciate every little detail that was put into the production of the Harry Potter movies from the costumes to the sets. Visitors can view the Potions Classroom, board the Hogwarts’ Express, and walk through the Dursley’s house.
Leeds Castle
Leeds Castle is one of the most beautiful castles in the UK. It is surrounded by a river and gardens, making it a relaxing and peaceful place. Leeds Castle is open for self-guided tours, and there are kid-friendly shows. Leeds Castle has a wonderfully-designed maze (迷宫), which has a surprise at the center that will appeal to all ages, not just children looking for a place to play. Leeds Castle also has a big playground, one part of which is set aside for small kids while the other inspires teenagers in an old game of hide-and-seek.
Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle is used by the current British royal family. This makes it the longest-occupied palace in Europe. Afraid that your young children might feel dull? Don’t worry. There is a kids’ audio tour available as well as an activity that features crafts (手工艺), coloring and dress-up for little ones. And in the summer months, parents will be happy to know that there is a place to get an ice cream for their kids centrally located in the castle complex (建筑群).

Beatrice De Lavalette developed a passion for horse-riding when she turned 3. However, in the spring of 2016, 17-year- old De Lavalette was waiting for a flight when she got hit by a bombing at Brussels airport. Along with serious burns, De Lavalette lost both legs below the knee. Yet she said if it weren’t for the event, she wouldn’t be the person to join in the Paralympic Games (残奥会)in Tokyo.
Getting back in the saddle(马鞍) was no easy work because of her injuries. However, five months after the bombing, thanks to her courage, determination and further treatment and training—that’s exactly where she was. “I had no muscle, I was just skin and bones, so being back on the saddle with no sense of balance was really uncomfortable. But with time, I was able to build up the muscle and work on my balance,” she said.
Unsurprisingly, De Lavalette was depressed as she tried to come to make peace with her injuries. She got lots of help and encouragement from her family, friends and the doctors, but she still couldn’t pick herself up. She cried a lot in the hospital until an unexpected visitor, her beloved horse, DeeDee, turned things around for her. “DeeDee saved my life,” Beatrice said. Adjusting to her disabled body was, in many ways, like having to learn to ride all over again. And the Paralympics offered a perfect chance to show her hard-earned skills.“I can’t change what happened, but I can still achieve my dream. As I have said many times, I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. What else is there to say? There are no ‘What ifs’. I have a new life in front of me,” Beatrice said, “What’s important is that I’m alive and I feel that I will do something great with my life.” We’d say that she already has.
24.What happened to Beatrice when she was 17?
A.She picked up horse-riding skills. B.She survived a plane crash accident.
C.She was badly hurt in a bomb attack. D.She took part in the Tokyo Paralympics
25.What played a key role in helping Beatrice back to riding?
A.The affection from her parents. B.The company of her horse DeeDee.
C.The medical care given by physicians. D.The encouragement offered by her friends.
26.What was Beatrice’s difficulty in training?
A.Loss of balance. B.Lack of friendship.
C.Great physical pains. D.Continuous depression.
27.What can we learn from Beatrice’s words in the last paragraph?
A.Time can cure all wounds. B.Constant efforts bring rewards.
C.One’s mind-set matters greatly. D.Failure is the mother of success.

Sauerkraut (酸菜) has long been a bit player in the American diet, just serving as a side topping on the sandwich. But its time in the spotlight may be here. An increasing number of nutrition scientists and food companies want us to eat more fermented (发酵的) foods like yogurt, kimchi(泡菜) and sauerkraut.
A growing body of scientific research is finding that fermented foods benefit health. When researchers at Stanford put people on a diet rich in a variety of fermented foods, they found their microbiomes (微生物组) became more diverse and that some signs of harmful reactions in the body decreased. Maria Marco, a professor at the University of California, found in the lab that sauerkraut contains more compounds(化合物) that protect the lining of the gut (肠道) than raw cabbage does. This could help explain why fermented vegetables may help reduce such harmful reactions. The fermentation process can also change the nutritional content of food by, for example, increasing the amount of some vitamins. Nutrition scientists say it can make nutrients easier for the body to absorb as well.
Growing concern about gut health and desire for less-processed products are driving consumers’ interest, said Stephanie Mattucci, principal strategist at market research firm Mintel. More companies are embracing fermentation, in which beneficial microbes are used to change food and drinks. To deal with the strong flavor of many fermented foods, some companies are even creating milder versions to win over more people. According to NielsenIQ, sales of fermented foods and ingredients reached $61.17 billion in the 52 weeks ending Oct. 4, up about 27% from the comparable period four years ago.
“But there’s still a lot that scientists need to learn about fermented foods,”said Dalia Perelman, a nutrition researcher and registered dietitian at Stanford.“We’re trying to figure out if some are better for you than others, if there is a best type of fermentation and what exactly it is about these foods that makes people healthy.”
28.What role did sauerkraut traditionally play in the American diet?
A.A formal food. B.A trendy choice.
C.A useless product. D.A secondary addition.
29.How does the author show the benefits of fermented foods in paragraph 2?
A.By listing data. B.By doing a survey.
C.By presenting findings. D.By providing examples.
30.What can we learn from paragraph 3?
A.The market sales double annually.
B.Milder versions are more nutritious.
C.Fermented foods are becoming popular.
D.Consumers are interested in processed food.
31.What can be inferred from Dalia Perelman’s words?
A.Much research needs a further study.
B.The best version has been developed.
C.All fermented foods offer equal health benefits.
D.Reasons for health benefits have been clarified.

In recent years, scientists have found a surprising phenomenon: In many cultures around the world, parents don’t struggle to raise helpful, kind kids. From ages 2 to 18, kids want to help their families. They wake up in the morning, voluntarily do the dishes, hop off their bikes to help their dad carry groceries into the house and when somebody hands them a cake, they share it with a younger sister or brother before taking a bite themselves. You can find these charitable kids among farmers, hunters and fishermen,
During the past four years, I’ve been interested in learning what are these parents doing to nurture such helpfulness in their kids? While doing the research, I traveled to three of the world’s most honored cultures — the Maya, Inuit and Hadzabe, and describe what I found in my new book—Hunt, Gather, Parent.
Supported by psychologists, my research result shows that parents raising helpful children welcome young children and babies into family chores and work—even if the child will make a bit of a mess or slow down the work, just opposite to many of American parents. What they say is that, “I know they are not going to do a good job, but to create more work for me.” In fact, turning down help from kids can have a bad influence, destroying their desire to help and possibly stop their desire to take care of their families.
“Given request at an early age, the children would start to act on what’s needed, and then the less likely parents need to be telling them what to do later,” Lew-Levy, a psychologist in Harvard University, says “You can pull back on the teaching, and kids just do it on their own.” But how does a parent let a young baby help with a task they can’t actually do yet—especially a task that may be too dangerous for them? You can find specific instructions in the following chapter.
32.What does the underlined word “charitable” mean in paragraph 1?
A.Selfish. B.Dependent. C.Helpful. D.Curious.
33.Which of the following best describes the parents raising helpful children?
A.Tolerant and strict. B.Influential and risky.
C.Open-minded and considerate. D.Hard-working and adventurous.
34.What do Lew-Levy’s words mean?
A.Kids just act on what their parents tell them to do.
B.Parents should permit kids to do whatever they want.
C.Parents seldom give directions to kids in their early years.
D.Kids tend to act of their own will if given requests at a young age.
35.Which is the best title for the text?
A.How to Be Kind Parents?
B.The Helpful Kids in Some Cultures.
C.How can We Parent Caring Children?
D.The Growing Experiences of Helpful Children.

Mentally strong people don’t wander through life aimlessly. They’re guided by deeply held beliefs—whether rooted in personal values, spirituality, or a commitment to truth and growth. 40

Thanksgiving Day was just around the corner, and as a first-grade teacher. I was excited to give my class a heartfelt assignment(作业): draw a picture of something they were grateful for. I expected to see drawings of turkeys and pumpkin pies, symbols of the holiday they might enjoy.
Most of the children did draw exactly that — scenes of feasts and family gatherings. Bright colors filled their pages, showing smiling families around dinner tables laden with food. But among this festive atmosphere, there was Lucas, a quiet and sad boy who often stayed by my side while others played at recess(大课间).
Lucas was different from the other children. His eyes, always filled with a sadness I could only guess at, seemed to carry the weight of the world. I often found him standing close to me during recess, his small hand sometimes slipping into mine as we watched the other children play. “Take my hand, Lucas, we' ll go outside,” I'd say gently, and he'd follow, his trust obvious in his grip(紧握).
When it was Lucas's turn to share his drawing, he held up his paper, showing a big hand. Just a hand, with nothing else around it. The simplicity of it stirred the imagination of his classmates. Whose hand could it be?
One child guessed it was the hand of a farmer, explaining that farmers raise turkeys and provide food. Another suggested it was the hand of a police officer, symbolizing protection and care. The discussion went on and on, each child offering a different interpretation (解读).
As the children moved on to other assignments, the image of the hand remained in my mind. I couldn't help but feel there was something more to Lucas's drawing, something deeper and more personal.
