Do Colors Really Exist?
Our eyes give us a colorful world. We see red flowers, green trees and blue sky every day. But one interesting question: Are colors really in things around us?
In fact, things do not have colors inside them. Sunlight has many different kinds of light. When sunlight hits an apple, the apple takes in most light and sends back only one kind of light. This light goes into our eyes.
Our eyes get the light and send messages to our brain. Our brain tells us the apple is “red”. The apple is not red itself. It only sends back that light.
There is no color without light. If you are in a dark room, you can see no colors. Different animals have different eyes. A cat may not see bright colors as we do.
Colors are from our eyes and brain. Things themselves do not have colors.
( ) 46. What does the apple do when sunlight hits it?
A. It takes in all light. B. It sends back one light.
C. It becomes red itself. D. It sends eye messages.
( ) 47. What makes us feel the color red?
A. The apple. B. Our eyes. C. Our brain. D. Sunlight.
( ) 48. Why can’t we see colors in a dark room?
A. There is no light. B. Our eyes stop working.
C. Colors go away. D. Dark rooms hurt our eyes.
( ) 49. What do we know about cats?
A. Cats see more colors than us. B. Cats’ eyes are like ours.
C. Cats may not see bright colors. D. Cats’ brains get no light messages.
( ) 50. According to the text, when the light changes, the colour we see will ______.
A. change B. stay the same C. disappear D. go back

①Hello, boys and girls! Do you like to make new friends at school? Yes? Here’s some of my advice.
②First, don’t be shy! Try to talk to all of your classmates. Smile and say, “Hello! What’s your name?” If you didn’t hear the name clearly, try, “Sorry, can you repeat that for me, please?” Then give your name and say, “Nice to meet you!” It’s really as simple as that! It’s important to get people’s names right. If you get them wrong, they might feel sad!
③Second, ask questions! Ask about school, sport, music, and more! As you listen, think of more questions to ask. So when your classmate stops talking, you can jump in and ask another question! But remember, you have to be a good listener before you can ask good questions.
④Last, don’t forget to share! Tell your classmates something interesting about yourself. Then your new friends can get to know you too! Soon enough, you’ll be the best of friends!
⑤I hope you find my advice helpful! Now go make some new friends!

Don’t Share Everything at Once
Many people like to share their life on the Internet. But if we put our life stories online too fast, we don’t think much about our own feelings. We only think about what other people will say.
We want to share our happy weekends. When we do something well, we want to tell everyone. Even bad days become stories for others to read.
This does not mean (意味着) we should not use the Internet. We don’t need to hide (隐藏) all important things in our life. We like to make friends and get good words from others.
But sometimes we should keep some stories for ourselves first. Before we show them to others, we can enjoy them by ourselves.
We don’t need other people to watch every part of our life. Sometimes we can keep our stories for some time. We can live first, and then decide (决定) to share later.
