A
The wheel is a great invention of all time. It changed international trade a lot. A number of new means of transport appeared because of it, for instance, the steam locomotive. In the central part of old cities, many narrow paths were not fit for big vehicles. Although people could pull or attach things to carts, travelling for long distances was hard in the old days.
Now we have different transport techniques. We do not wholly depend on petrol‑powered cars. We can avoid many traffic jams by choosing different ways to go out. Personally, some people still like going on foot. They notice that walking brings them lots of health benefits. Some scientists’ predictions say future transport will use smaller amounts of petrol.

In October, 2025, Zhejiang became the first province in China to have spring and autumn breaks for all primary and middle schools. These are short breaks, different from the long summer and winter holidays. The spring break is usually in late April near the May Day holiday. The autumn break is often in late September near National Day, or in mid-to-late November together with a weekend.

In July 2026, Anthropic, the company behind the AI assistant Claude, announced (宣告) a major plan to enter K-12 education. Claude will be used in over 1,000 schools across the United States as a learning assistant for students and a planning tool for teachers.
Claude is different from other AI tools because it is designed to be more careful and smarter. It tries to give accurate (精准的) answers and avoids giving biased (有偏见的) information. When it is not sure about something, it will say so instead of making up an answer. This makes it more trustworthy for educational use.
In classrooms, Claude will help students with many tasks. It can explain difficult concepts (概念) in simple language, check homework for mistakes, and create practice questions for different subjects. For teachers, Claude can help write lesson plans, create tests and track student progress.
Not everyone is happy about AI entering schools. Some parents worry that students will become lazy and stop thinking for themselves. Others are concerned about data privacy (隐私)—Claude will collect information about students’ learning habits.
Anthropic says it takes privacy seriously. “We will not share any student data with third parties,” the company promised. They also said that Claude is designed to help, not replace, human teachers.
The debate (辩论) about AI in education is likely to continue. But one thing is clear. Digital technology is changing the way we learn, and schools need to prepare students for a digital future.
22.What makes Claude different from other AI tools?
A.It is free to use. B.It is faster.
C.It is more careful and smarter. D.It can speak more languages.
23.What can Claude do for teachers?

C.Write lesson plans and create tests. D.Drive students to school.
24.What did Anthropic promise about student data?
A.They will sell it to other companies.
B.They will not share it with third parties.
C.They will delete it every month.
D.They will publish it online.

① In 1991, researchers at the University of Cambridge shared a coffee machine. Some worked several floors away. They would walk to the coffee room, only to discover that the pot was empty. Two researchers, Quentin Stafford-Fraser and Paul Jardetzky, decided to solve this small but annoying problem.
② They pointed a camera at the pot and used computer programs to send pictures to screens inside the laboratory. The pictures were small, black and white, and updated about three times a minute. Their quality was poor, but they answered the important question: Was there any coffee? People could check before leaving their desks.
③ In 1993, other members of the team connected the system to the World Wide Web. Now people outside the laboratory could see the pot too. At a time when many web pages showed only still information, the changing picture offered a little window into a real place. People around the world became interested in a coffee pot they would never use.
④ The camera was switched off in 2001 when the laboratory moved. It had begun as a way to avoid wasted walks, rather than a plan for a world-famous invention. Its story is a reminder that new uses for technology can grow from ordinary needs. The problem did not have to be large for the idea to travel far.

“到达”用reach表达,是动词;look forward to doing sth.

I was weak at English grammar. My score was always the 66 (low) in my class and my writing was full of mistakes (错误). To make a change, I made a study plan 67 (improve) my English.
I started 68 learning the basic grammar rules. I knew that I always made mistakes 69 I never really understood the rules. Focusing on grammar was a little bit 70 (bore) at first, but it made a huge difference. I 71 (search) online to watch videos about English grammar. Besides, my friends and teachers suggested that practising more is of great 72 (important). I worked and practised even harder after they provided the advice.
My English got better and better. One of the turning points for me was when I began keeping grammar notes.Whenever I made 73 mistake, I would write it down along with the correct usage. In fact, to make 74 (few) mistakes in any subject, we need to find what we're not good at and face it 75 (brave) like this. Every mistake is a chance to learn something new.

lowest 67.
to improve 68.
by 69.
because 70.

16.What invention changed international trade greatly according to the text?
A.3D printer.
B.Wheel.
C.Crewed spacecraft.

A.Narrow paths in old cities are perfect for big vehicles.
B.People can avoid traffic jams by choosing different ways of transport.

During the 2025 summer holiday, Zhejiang did a survey (调查) and asked 100,000 parents and 25,000 teachers about the new breaks. Here are the results: 89.2% of the parents liked the idea; 95% of the parents and 99% of the teachers agreed they were good for learning. Zhou Yuchao, a parent of two primary schoolchildren from Hangzhou, travelled to Beijing with his family during the autumn break. They enjoyed a five-day trip. “The autumn break is really great,” he says. In the past, the family didn’t think about visiting places like the Palace Museum during holidays because of the large group of tourists. “There are fewer tourists. It greatly improves our family travel experience,” Zhou says. “And it costs (花费) less money.” Jiang Yiyi, a teacher at Beijing Sport University, thinks spring and autumn are the best seasons for educational (与教育有关的) trips. She says, “Combining (结合) study with travel helps students learn outside the classroom and understand things better.”
19.What did most parents and teachers think about the spring and autumn breaks according to the survey?
A.They were good for students. B.They made holidays too long.
C.They caused problems for schools. D.They made the school life too busy.
20.Why didn’t Zhou’s family visit the Palace Museum during holidays in the past?

①Combining study with travel is helpful to students.

A.Replace them completely. B.Cook meals for students.
C.Write lesson plans and create tests. D.Drive students to school.
24.What did Anthropic promise about student data?
A.They will sell it to other companies.
B.They will not share it with third parties.
C.They will delete it every month.
D.They will publish it online.
25.What is the author’s attitude towards AI in education?
A.Completely against it. B.Completely supportive (支持的).
C.Objective (客观的) and balanced. D.Not mentioned.

“Be yourself.” You may often hear people say this to you, but you’re not really sure what it means. In fact, being yourself means being true to yourself. There’s no need for you to try to be someone else. You shouldn’t worry about what others think of you.
Get to know yourself. You have to learn who you are, what matters to you and what you believe in.
Please yourself! Doing things to please others is nice, but it shouldn’t be your first priority. If you always want others pleased, you will forget about yourself and what you really want. So, if you find yourself doing this, ask yourself why. Don’t always go along with the crowd.
This is important because nobody can love you as much as you can love yourself. Loving yourself means loving everything in you, your voice, your looks and even your mistakes. Remember, you don’t have to be the same as anyone else.
A.To be yourself, you have to learn about yourself.
B.Then, what can you do to be yourself?
C.But stop to ask yourself if this is right for you.
D.Learn to love yourself.
E.We should listen to others’ advice all the time.
