Do you have a long list of hobbies that light you up but find it hard to balance (平衡) them all? You're not alone! The real challenge isn't having too many hobbies, but how you manage them. In this passage, we'll share how to enjoy all your hobbies without tiring yourself.
Focus on what you enjoy now. It's not easy to follow every hobby at the same time. The key is to focus on the hobbies that can bring you the most energy right now. For example, this month you're excited about photography, but next month, you might want to try cooking. By switching hobbies based on what excites you, you'll stay interested and avoid feeling tired.
Set a flexible schedule(灵活的时间表).A flexible schedule helps you stay organized without pressure. You can create time blocks, such as one evening for drawing and another for guitar practice. If one hobby catches your attention more than the other, feel free to give it more time.
Why not get creative and combine your hobbies when possible? For example, if you love being outdoors and photography, take your camera with you when you go out. By doing this, you can enjoy the best of both worlds while keeping things fresh and exciting.

When it comes to house fires, many people believe that cooking is the biggest cause. However, in fact, electrical malfunctions(电气故障)have topped the list in China. Electricity runs through every room in our houses,so there are many ways an electrical fire could start. Follow these safety tips to protect your house from electrical fires.
The best way to avoid electrical fires is to have your house's wires (电线) checked regularly. Usually, this should be done every 3 to 5 years. But don't wait if you notice signs like lights that flicker (闪烁) or make strange noises, or outlets(插座)that feel warmer than usual to touch. If you see any of these problems, call an electrician right away for a safety check.
If your house is old and has trouble running your appliances(家电),it might be time to upgrade(升级)the electrical system(系统). Calling an electrician to change the main electrical box or wires in the house can cost some money, but it will save more money and energy over time - and, more importantly, keep your family safe.
Make sure GFCI and AFCI outlets work well. GFCI outlets are usually put in wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens. They keep you safe by turning off the power if something like water gets into a hairdryer or the dryer has an electrical problem. AFCI outlets help avoid fires by cutting off power if they find dangerous signs or wiring problems inside walls. If these outlets stop working, you could be at risk of a fire.
Keep a fire extinguisher nearby. Water should never be used in an electrical fire, as this could make the situation worse. Instead, use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. If possible, turn off the appliance causing the electrical fire to stop the fire from growing.
( )42. According to the passage, what is the most common cause of house fires in China?
A. Cooking. B. Heating equipment. C.Electrical malfunctions.
( )43. What is the benefit(好处) of upgrading the electrical system?
①It helps the family stay safe. ②It allows people to use fewer outlets.
③ It saves money in the long run ④It saves energy over time.
A.①②③ B.①③④ C.②③④
( )44. How do GFCI and AFCI outlets help avoid fires?
A. By cutting off power in time during electrical malfunctions.
B. By turning off appliances to stop fires from growing.
C. By checking smoke and turning off power.
( )45. Which shows the right structure of the passage? (①=Para. 1 ; ②=Para. 2;...)
A. ①-②③④-⑤ B.①-②③-④⑤ C.①-②③④⑤

More and more people around the world are having trouble in seeing things far away.46. In 1971, only about one in four Americans had this eye problem. Now, almost half of Americans need glasses to see far away. By the year 2050, doctors think half of all people in the world might have this problem! Why is this happening? 47. But eye doctors have found something surprising. The biggest reason might be that we don't spend enough time outside in the sunlight.
When we go outside, natural sunlight helps our eyes grow in a healthy way. 48. which helps our eyeballs grow the right shape. If our eyes don't get enough natural light when we are young, they might grow too long, making it hard to see far away.
49. When we look at bright screens in dark rooms, it might be too much for our eyes. The strong difference between light and dark can make children's eyes grow in an unhealthy way.
So what can we do? The answer is simple: spend more time playing and walking outside! Your eyes will thank you, 50.
A. Using screens is still part of the problem too.
B. Many people think it's because we use phones and computers too much.
C. and you should stop using screens completely to protect your eyes.

The Time-eating Monster
Do you know a monster around us? It's not big or scary, but it's dangerous. This monster can be games, social media or TV shows. You may ask, "It is so much fun. So why do you say it's a monster?"
At first, people think, “I just have a little fun.” They turn on the computer and start a game. But soon the monster takes over. It starts to eat away their time, minute by minute. But they just sit there and look at the screen without noticing it at all.
People often get lost in the monster's world when they play games or watch TV for a long time. They feel tired, because their necks hurt and their eyes are dry. They also feel bored because they miss good times with their family and friends. They are deaf to the real world.
Remember, too much fun can make one a bored person! The time - eating monster is always there. But we can keep away from it by balancing screen time with outdoor sports.
So, stand up and leave the screens! We can go outside to do sports. Run in the fresh air. Play basketball in the park with friends. We can go hiking with our family, too. There are many other interesting things to do. The choice is ours.
