Before paper, people had a hard time carrying heavy bamboo books, and they wished for a lighter material. Cai Lun, a great inventor, was curious about everything around him. He spent years studying how to make paper from bark and old cloth. Finally he created a cheap way to make paper, and people made it out of simple materials. The new paper was able to carry words far and wide, so it changed the world. It improved education and spread knowledge. This invention shows that great things come from hard work.
