The disability was a greatest impediment to music when, in fifth grade, he said his music teacher wanted all the students to learn to play the recorder (竖笛). Instead of giving up, Anantawan and his parents decided to find him a different instrument to explore his musical talent. “My family chose the violin because they thought it was the most beautiful instrument,” Anantawan said. They contacted the Toronto-area hospital near the family, asking them to create an adaptive cast (石膏) on his arm that would allow the then 10-year-old to hold the bow. A group of engineers worked alongside Anantawan to build a special device. With it, Anantawan could use the bow and use his shoulder to make the sound. “From the very first note that I was playing, I was really attracted to the sound and the connection of my body to the instrument and being able to express my imagination,” he said. Although Anantawan is grateful for the technology that allows him and others with disabilities to find access to music, he said the most important part of access is that teachers, supporters and those who encourage young learners or musicians by telling them they can do anything are able to accept diversity. Anantawan is working to provide that space for others. As an associate professor at the Berklee College of Music, Anantawan founded the Music Inclusion Ensemble, a group of students with disabilities that provide accommodations for musicians according to their needs. Anantawan hopes to inspire people without being defined only by the challenges they face as a result of their disability. 21. What does the underlined word “impediment” mean in paragraph 1? A. Possibility. B. Barrier. C. Achievement. D. Regret. 22. Why did Anantawan’s family get in touch with the hospital? A. To find a man-made hand for him. B. To inspire him to learn to play the recorder. C. To put forward suggestions on adapting a violin. D. To add something extra to assist his right arm. 23. What does Anantawan think is the key to the disabled’s access to music? A. Inclusive atmosphere. B. Fair competitions. C. Enough resources. D. Lasting cooperation. 24. What is the last paragraph mainly about? A. Why Anantawan becomes active. B. Who Anantawan plays music with. C. How Anantawan lives in his free time. D. What Anantawan contributes his time to. B Before 2024, there was barely a whisper about it. Now the concept of “food noise” seems to be everywhere on social media; a quick TikTok search, for instance, finds that videos related to “food noise” attracted millions of views as of this summer. Aiming at naming the experience of thinking about food, longing for food, planning our next meal and so on, “food noise” describes some of the most basic human drives: hunger, appetite, longing. But now these are being seen as problems, rather than features. We should resist this definition. To call something noise is to go beyond describing it: It’s to prove the claim that simply loving food, letting food occupy our thoughts and responding to our hunger is problematic. However, some people don’t accept it. The pleasure we take from food is an important human good. Food connects us to ourselves, and with each other, and there is real harm in teaching people to view the pleasure they take as a problem. Famed English food writer Nigella Lawson earlier this year wrote in a post that she “ couldn’t stomach the silence of life without food noise.” One commenter responded in agreement: “I believe it is called ‘food music.’” Some people who identify with the term “food noise” experience genuinely intense food thoughts, as well as engaging in harmful behaviors such as bingeing But according to experts, these problems are often rooted in restriction. In other words, food noise is what may happen when you’re not eating enough to satisfy your appetite, often under the pressures of diet culture. And for any of us, the joy and pleasure and comfort of food should not be discounted. We need to eat to live, of course, but it goes beyond that; to live to eat has long given many of us meaning and community as well as sustenance (营养). Food noise should not be treated as a problem. Rather, we might call it “food music,” and dance to it. 25. What can we learn about food noise from the first paragraph? A. It was quite popular before 2024. B. It carries negative meanings. C. It has many supporters as a fashion. D. It was invented by social media users. 26. What is the purpose of mentioning Nigella Lawson’s words in Paragraph 3? A. To show food pleasure is a valuable part of human life. B. To prove “food noise”should be seen as a problem. C. To explain how diet culture influences people’ s eating habits. D. To warn readers of the harm of thinking too much about food. 27. Why do people experience food noise according to experts? A. They had a larger appetite before. B. They try to stay away from diet culture. C. They avoid reasonable thoughts on food. D. They intentionally eat less than necessary. 28. What does the author think of food noise? A. It should be accepted with joy. B. It hardly gives meaning to our lives. C. It can help us handle food problems. D. It may contribute to building communities. C When did you last sit down for a meal without any distractions(分心)? Many of us multitask during meals, checking social media, watching TV, or even working. According to a study led by Stephen Lee Murphy, PhD, of Ghent University, this habit of distracted eating could lead to overconsumption. The study investigates “hedonic(享乐的) consumption”, where we buy and use products for the pleasure they bring rather than necessity. “On any given day, a person may take great pleasure from one or more of these activities, yet people often consume more hedonic goods than they want or than is good for them,” said Murphy. To understand how distraction affects our enjoyment, researchers conducted an experiment with 122 participants, mostly young adults. Participants were asked to eat their lunch under two different conditions: no distraction, and high distraction. After their meal, they reported their level of enjoyment, satisfaction, and desire for more satisfaction. The results were telling. Participants who ate while distracted reported lower enjoyment and satisfaction, leading to increased snacking later in the day and a heightened desire for further satisfaction. Murphy called this effect “hedonic compensation”. When we are distracted, we experience less enjoyment from our activities, which drives us to seek more consumption to make up for the shortfall. “Overconsumption often results from a lack of self- control.” Murphy explained. “However, our findings suggest overconsumption may also often be driven by the simple human desire to reach a certain level of enjoyment from an activity. When distraction gets in the way, it’s likely we may try to make up for it by consuming more.” In a world where distractions are unavoidable, learning to be present and fully engaged in our pleasurable activities might be the key to enjoying them more and consuming less. So, next time you sit down for a meal, put away your phone, turn off the TV, and enjoy each bite. Your mind and body will thank you. 29. According to Murphy, what is the problem with “hedonic consumption”? A. It reduces enjoyment. B. It’s a waste of time. C. People do too much of it. D. People know little about it. 30. Which of the following shows the result of the experiment? A. No distraction, no satisfaction. B. High distraction, less satisfaction. C. Less distraction, less satisfaction. D. High distraction, more satisfaction. 31. What does the author recommend to reduce hedonic overconsumption? A. Trying to have more self-control. B. Avoiding eating pleasurable foods. C. Focusing fully on consumption experiences. D. Reducing the amount of food consumed. 32. What is the main topic discussed in the text? A. How overconsumption does harm to health. B. How distracted eating leads to overconsumption. C. How we can increase enjoyment while eating. D. How we can consume less food during the meal. Music is often called the universal language of mankind. I said no without thinking. I did not love writing. My family came from Brazil, so English was only my second language. Writing was so difficult and painful for me that my teacher had allowed me to present my paper on the sinking of the Titanic by acting out a play, where I played all the parts. No one laughed harder than he did. So, why did he suddenly force me to do something at which I was sure to fail? His reply: “Because I love your stories. If you’re willing to apply yourself, I think you have a good shot at this.” Encouraged by his words, I agreed to give it a try. I chose Paul Revere’s horse as my subject. Paul Revere was a silversmith (银匠) in Boston who rode a horse at night on April 18, 1775 to Lexington to warn people that British soldiers were coming. My story would come straight from the horse’s mouth. Not a brilliant idea, but funny; and unlikely to be anyone else’s choice. What did the horse think, as he sped through the night? Did he get tired? Have doubts? Did he want to quit? I sympathized immediately. I got tired. I had doubts. I wanted to quit. But, like Revere’s horse, I kept going. I worked hard. I checked my spelling. I asked my older sister to correct my grammar. I checked out a half dozen books on Paul Revere from the library. I even read a few of them. When I handed in the essay to my teacher, he read it, laughed out loud, and said, “Great. Now, write it again.” I wrote it again, and again and again. When I finally finished it, the thought of winning had given way to the enjoyment of writing. If I didn’t win, I wouldn’t care. A few weeks later, when I almost forgot the contest, there came the news. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I went to my teacher’s office after the award presentation. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 周南中学2025级高二阶段考试英语试卷 分量:150分 时量:120分钟 命题人:周南中学命题三组 审题人:周南中学命题三组 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面 5 段录音。 What is the man trying to do? W: Yes, but that’s not the main reason to do it. It helps stop things from being thrown away, and it’s satisfying to know someone else can use them. M: Great. Do you have any tips for getting started? W: Sure. You need to be honest about things and give clear information. You don’t have to be a professional seller or photographer. 13. Why is Jake unsure about attending the festival at first? A. He is too busy. B. Apart from the regular stage performances, there are special extra shows. They cost $15 each, separate from the basic ticket. I’m planning to watch two on Saturday. C. Quiet corners to watch birds. 20. Where do people create pocket forests? A. On building rooftops. B. Inside their own houses. C. In space between buildings. A 18. B 19. A 20. Many people now grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers in small spaces in their homes, and new technology is making it easier than ever. It is cheap and fun to do. One example is the SmartGrow system. This indoor garden uses special sensors to monitor light, water, and plant food levels automatically. People can control it through a smartphone app, so even busy people in cities can grow fresh food without spending hours taking care of plants. Another trend is community rooftop gardens. These shared spaces allow people to grow fruit and vegetables together and exchange tips. Rooftop gardens also create green areas in parts of the city that are usually very crowded. What a treat! The third model is the pocket forest. Residents plant flowers in unused corners between buildings. These tiny green spaces can improve the neighborhood’s appearance, support insects and birds, and give local people a peaceful place to relax. It’s remarkable how these ideas are changing the way we grow, share, and enjoy food. A Anantawan was born without most of his right forearm. B 22. D 23. A 24. 根据第一段“Anantawan was born without most of his right forearm. The disability was a greatest impediment to music when, in fifth grade, he said his music teacher wanted all the students to learn to play the recorder (竖笛). (Anantawan生来就没有大部分的右前臂。当Anantawan在五年级时,他说他的音乐老师要求所有学生学习演奏竖笛,那时他的残疾成为了学习音乐的最大障碍。)”可知,在五年级时,音乐老师希望所有学生都学会吹竖笛,但残疾却成了他学习音乐的障碍。impediment意为“障碍,阻碍”。A. 根据第二段中“They contacted the Toronto-area hospital near the family, asking them to create an adaptive cast (石膏) on his arm that would allow the then 10-year-old to hold the bow. (他们联系了家庭附近的一家多伦多地区的医院,请求医院为他的手臂制作一个适应性的石膏模型,这样这位当时10岁的小男孩就能握住琴弓了。)”可知,他们联系了位于家附近的医院,希望医院能帮助他的手臂握住琴弓。故选D。 【23题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“Although Anantawan is grateful for the technology that allows him and others with disabilities to find access to music, he said the most important part of access is that teachers, supporters and those who encourage young learners or musicians by telling them they can do anything are able to accept diversity. (虽然Anantawan对那些使他和其他残疾人士能够接触到音乐的技术感到非常感谢,但他认为最重要的是,教师、支持者以及那些鼓励年轻人或音乐家的人能够接受多样性,通过告诉他们可以做任何事情来支持他们的成长和发展。)”可知,Anantawan认为残疾人接触音乐的关键在于包容的氛围。故选A。 通读最后一段,尤其是本段第一句“Anantawan is working to provide that space for others. (Anantawan正在努力为其他人提供这样的空间。)”可知,本段主要概述Anantawan花时间做的事。故选D。 B Before 2024, there was barely a whisper about it. B 26. A 27. D 28. 根据第一段中的“Aiming at naming the experience of thinking about food, longing for food, planning our next meal and so on, “food noise” describes some of the most basic human drives: hunger, appetite, longing. But now these are being seen as problems, rather than features.(“食物噪音”用来描述想着食物、渴望食物、规划下一餐等体验,描述饥饿、食欲、渴望这些人类最基本的本能。但如今这些被看作是问题,而不是正常特质。)”可知,食物噪音带有负面含义。 【26题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中的 “The pleasure we take from food is an important human good. Food connects us to ourselves, and with each other, and there is real harm in teaching people to view the pleasure they take as a problem. Famed English food writer Nigella Lawson earlier this year wrote in a post that she “couldn’t stomach the silence of life without food noise.”(我们从食物中获得的愉悦是人类珍贵的美好体验。食物连接我们自身与他人,教导人们把这份愉悦当成问题会带来实实在在的伤害。英国知名美食作家Nigella Lawson今年早些时候在帖子写道,她“无法忍受没有食物噪音的寂静生活”。)”作者引用这句话,是为了说明食物带来的愉悦是人类生活宝贵的一部分。 【27题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中的“But according to experts, these problems are often rooted in restriction. In other words, food noise is what may happen when you’re not eating enough to satisfy your appetite, often under the pressures of diet culture.(但专家表示,这些问题往往源于饮食限制。换句话说,“食物噪音”产生的原因是你吃得不足以满足食欲,这通常来自节食文化带来的压力。)”可知,人们产生这种现象,是刻意吃得少于身体所需。 【28题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段中的“And for any of us, the joy and pleasure and comfort of food should not be discounted. We need to eat to live, of course, but it goes beyond that; to live to eat has long given many of us meaning and community as well as sustenance (营养). Food noise should not be treated as a problem. Rather, we might call it “food music,” and dance to it.(而对于我们任何人来说,食物带来的愉悦、享受与慰藉都不应被低估。诚然,我们为生存而进食,但进食的意义不止于此;长久以来,为品尝美食而活,除了获取营养,还为我们许多人赋予生命意义,让我们获得归属感。食物相关的种种声音不该被视作麻烦。相反,我们不妨称之为“食物乐章”,随之起舞。)”可知,作者认为我们应该欣然接纳它。 C When did you last sit down for a meal without any distractions(分心)? C 30. B 31. C 32. 根据第2段中“On any given day, a person may take great pleasure from one or more of these activities, yet people often consume more hedonic goods than they want or than is good for them(在任何一天,一个人可能会从一项或多项这类活动中获得极大的乐趣,但人们往往消费的享乐型商品超出了自己的需求或对自己有益的程度)”可知,穆菲认为享乐型消费的问题是人们过度进行了这种消费。 根据第3段中“Participants were asked to eat their lunch under two different conditions: no distraction, and high distraction. After their meal, they reported their level of enjoyment, satisfaction, and desire for more satisfaction. The results were telling. Participants who ate while distracted reported lower enjoyment and satisfaction(参与者被要求在两种不同条件下吃午餐:无干扰和高干扰。餐后,他们报告了自己的愉悦感、满足感以及对更多满足感的渴望程度。结果很明显,分心进食的参与者报告的愉悦感和满足感更低)”可知,实验结果是高干扰会带来更低的满足感。故选B。 【31题详解】 细节理解题。根据第6段中“In a world where distractions are unavoidable, learning to be present and fully engaged in our pleasurable activities might be the key to enjoying them more and consuming less(在一个干扰不可避免的世界里,学会活在当下,全身心投入到能带来愉悦感的活动中,或许是更多享受、更少消费的关键)”可知,作者建议要全身心投入消费体验。 根据第1段中“According to a study led by Stephen Lee Murphy, PhD, of Ghent University, this habit of distracted eating could lead to overconsumption(根特大学的斯蒂芬·李·穆菲博士主导的一项研究表明,这种分心进食的习惯可能会导致过度消费)”以及全文围绕分心进食与过度消费的关联展开分析可知,本文的主题是分心进食如何导致过度消费。 Music is often called the universal language of mankind. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 A few weeks later, when I almost forgot the contest, there came the news. I was informed that I won the first prize in the writing contest and that there would be an award presentation in two days. I was so happy to hear the news that I immediately shared it with my teacher. “I knew you’d win! I am proud of you. You made it!” he said excitedly. Then came the big day. When I was invited to the stage to receive the award, I expressed my thanks to my teacher. I said, “It’s you who make me fall in love with writing, my social studies teacher. Without your recognition and guidance, I couldn’t have written this article. Again thank you very much!” I went to my teacher’s office after the award presentation. My teacher was waiting for me. Holding my hands, he said “Congratulations! You are a good writer, so keep writing.” “You know I didn’t like writing before, but now I am crazy about it! I will try my best to create good works.” I said seriously. Since then, I have written many good works and now I am a famous writer. I owe my success to my social teacher who is a beacon in my life on the road to writing. 词汇激活 行为类 ①告知:inform/tell ②成功做到:make it/succeed ③表达:express/convey 情绪类 ①高兴的:happy/glad ②激动地:excitedly/with excitement 【点睛】[高分句型1] I was informed that I won the first prize in the writing contest and that there would be an award presentation in two days.
