Huawei’s New Computer with HarmonyOS
On May 8, 2025, Huawei showed its first computer that runs on HarmonyOS in Shenzhen. This is a big and important moment for China’s technology. It shows that China can make its own high-tech products. More than 10,000 engineers and 20 research groups worked for five years to make this computer. Now, it can compete with popular operating systems (操作系统) like Windows and macOS in the world.
The HarmonyOS PC uses HarmonyOS 5. This is an operating system that China made all by itself. It works very fast, keeps your information safe, and helps different devices (设备) connect easily. For example, there is an AI helper named “Xiaoyi”. You can tell it what to do with your voice. It can help you make slides (幻灯片) for a class report or quickly tell you what happened in a meeting. Also, you can use this system to control many Huawei devices at the same time without any trouble.
Keeping your data (数据) safe is a big thing for this computer. The HarmonyOS PC has a special “brain” that China developed on its own. It also uses strong encryption (芯片级加密) in the chip to protect your information. There is a “super privacy mode”. You can press a button, and it will stop the camera and microphone from working.
Huawei wants to build a strong and long-lasting system for this computer. So, it works with universities to teach students how to make apps for HarmonyOS. Huawei also changed over 300 apps so they can work on the HarmonyOS PC. Now, 7.2 million people who make apps have joined, and they wrote 110 million lines of code. This makes a great place for new ideas in the future.
There are still hard things to deal with. Other old-time operating systems are very popular, and it’s not easy to beat them. But the HarmonyOS PC shows that China is moving from using other countries technology to making its own great inventions. Huawei’s CEO said, “HarmonyOS is not just an operating system. It’s the start of a smart life.”
56. What can we know about the HarmonyOS 5 from the passage?
A. It is slow but very safe for users.
B. It can only be used on Huawei computers.
C. It allows users to control different Huawei devices easily.
D. It is a system that was made with the help of foreign countries.
57. Why did Huawei work with universities?
A. To sell more HarmonyOS computers to students.
B. To train developers to create apps for HarmonyOS.
C. To borrow money from universities for research.
D. To ask university students to test the new computer.
58. Why is the “super privacy mode” important?
A. It makes the computer run faster. B. It helps users control different devices at once.
C. It can protect personal information. D. It teaches users how to write code for new apps.
59. What can we infer (推断) from Huawei’s CEO’s words?
A. HarmonyOS will only be used on computers, not other devices.
B. Huawei wants to sell HarmonyOS to other countries as a foundation.
C. The CEO thinks making an operating system is very easy.
D. Huawei plans to use HarmonyOS to create more smart products in the future.

Ⅵ.任务型阅读。(65-66 小题,每小题2分;67-68小题,每小题3分;共10分)
On April 10th, 2025, China raised the tariffs (关税) on some goods from the United States. This policy has drawn a lot of attention. But why did China do this, and how will it affect our daily lives?
In recent years, the U.S. has kept raising tariffs on many Chinese products (产品). This is unfair and has caused big problems for Chinese businesses. China wants to solve trade problems by talking, but the U.S. always refuses. China has to raise tariffs on U.S. goods to protect its own interests (利益).
This tariff increase will have different effects on our lives. For shoppers, the prices of some US-made products will go up. Take fruits like American cherries for example. They may become more expensive. Also, American-made cars sold in China may cost more. People who want to buy these products will have to think twice or choose others.
What’s more, for Chinese workers, those in factories that sold a lot of products to the US will have a hard time. They may get fewer orders, so some workers may lose their jobs. But on the bright side, it might also give a push to native industries (行业). More people may start to buy products made in China, which can help local businesses grow and create new jobs.
In short, China’s decision to raise tariffs on U.S. goods is necessary. Even though there will be some difficulties in the short term, it can help China’s economy (经济) become stronger and better in the future.

Do you always try to please others even when you feel tired or unhappy? If so, you may be a people-pleaser. People-pleasers are kind and helpful, but they often put others before themselves. Over time, this can cause stress and tiredness, and even make them lose themselves. So it is necessary to stop people-pleasing others.
Some people-pleasers have started to make changes. Anna used to help others even when she felt tired, but now she says “I’m not comfortable doing that today.” Tom no longer answers personal questions, but says “I don’t want to talk about that right now.” At first they worried about upsetting others, but most people understood. By expressing their true feelings, they feel less pressure and live more easily. What they do is called setting boundaries (设立边界). It means being honest and respectful about your likes and dislikes. That makes you more likely to speak and behave in ways that are true to your feelings. Many studies show that clear boundaries can bring a sense of safety and make others treat you with respect.
However, some worry that setting boundaries will push friends away. To explore this idea, researchers interviewed people of different ages. Most people like friendships in which both sides can speak out their needs, instead of one always pleasing the other. They said this led to fewer arguments and helped them understand each other better.
Setting boundaries takes time and practice. Your body often tells you when something doesn’t feel right. When you feel uncomfortable, your heart may race and your breathing may slow down. So, the more you listen to it, the easier it is to set healthy boundaries. It is also important to leave some time for yourself. You can do what makes you calm and happy, even when life is busy. After all, only when you care for yourself well can you truly care for others.
People-pleasers are kind to everyone but themselves, which can lead to problems. Luckily, 74. ________________. It means being clear about what you like and dislike. And setting boundaries 75. ________________ and more respected. However, some show their worries. In fact, 76.__________________. You can gradually set healthy boundaries by listening to your body. 77.__________________________ is the first step to truly caring for others.
