Passage 3
Could you imagine wearing the same pair of shoes for a whole year without washing them? A company in the Netherlands has made a pair of shoes that never smell bad. The secret is a special material inside the shoe that kills bacteria with the help of sunlight.
The material is called “sun-activated foam”. When ultraviolet light from the sun hits the foam, it produces a small amount of oxygen that kills the bacteria causing bad smells. The more sunlight the shoes get, the cleaner they become. “You just need to leave them in the sun for a few hours,” said the designer.
The company got the idea from a kind of paint used in hospitals. That paint can clean itself under light. After years of testing, scientists finally made the material soft enough to put inside shoes. Each pair now costs about 150 euros, which is more expensive than normal shoes, but the company says they last much longer.
Some people wonder if the shoes will still work on cloudy days. The answer is yes—any light, even from a window, can start the cleaning process, though sunlight works best. The company hopes that in the future, the same material can be used in clothes, sofas and even hospital beds.

话题2 航天与航空(共3篇)
Passage 1
(26年青岛中考真题)
Space Traveller’s Training Book
As you know, a straight line is the shortest distance (距离) between two points, and you should always watch where you are going. However, once a spacecraft leaves Earth, many rules about travelling may stop working.
Now forget all that. Let’s begin our training!1. To Go Faster, Go Farther
To get from point a to b, a spacecraft doesn’t always travel straight in space. That
—1—
is because of the strong force of huge objects around it. The force pulls it into a curved orbit (弯曲的轨道). In theory, a spacecraft could fly straight all the time, but this would require too much fuel (燃料) to offset (抵消) the force. Luckily, there is a better way. By following a long curved orbit, a spacecraft can use the force to reach the destination.
Although the trip is longer, the spacecraft uses less fuel and arrives sooner.
2. To Go Forward, Look Backward
This sounds really strange On Earth, we
—2—
usually travel by watching the road ahead. We change our speed or direction according to how close we are to the final position. But in space, it is just the opposite. Most spacecraft never “see” where they’re going or where they will arrive. For example, a spacecraft doesn’t see the Moon or other planets getting close. How does it know whether to go forward or not? A spacecraft can tell its position by knowing the distance it has travelled from
—3—
where it started. The starting point is usually Earth.
3. ▲
We can use a signal (信号) travelling at light-speed to check the speed. A spacecraft sends a signal to Earth. By timing how long the signal takes to travel from the spacecraft to Earth and then go back to the spacecraft, we can work out the speed.
Your training is complete. Good luck!
—4—
1.What can we know about a spacecraft from Part 1 “To Go Faster, Go Farther”?
A.It goes a shorter way to arrive sooner. B.The force from Earth decides its orbit.
C.Flying in curved orbit is a better way. D.It uses less fuel to fly straight in space.
2.What does the underlined word “destination” mean?
A.Something that provides more fuel. B.A place where someone is going.
C.Something that people hope to achieve. D.A road that people take to reach a place.
3.Why does a spacecraft look backward when travelling in space?
A.To know how far it has travelled. B.To remember the way it has flown.
C.To find out where other planets are. D.To take a look at our beautiful Earth.
4.Which can be put in ▲ ?
A.To Return to Earth, Send a Signal B.To Check Speed, Time a Signal
C.To Know Speed, Go Back to Earth D.To Go Faster, Move at Light-speed
5.What’s the purpose of the training book?
A.To show different parts in a spacecraft. B.To remind people of the danger in space.
C.To introduce basic facts about space travel. D.To describe key steps in designing a spacecraft.
【答案】1.C 2.B 3.A 4.B 5.C

Passage 2
① On a clear night, if you look up at the sky for about 10 minutes, you may see a small point of light moving slowly among the stars. That is not a star—it is probably a satellite circling the Earth. Today, more than 9,000 man-made satellites are flying above our heads.
② Satellites are easy to understand. People send orders from the ground to the satellite. Solar panels on the satellite turn sunlight into electricity. By using this electricity, the satellite can talk to the Earth, take photos, or show us the weather from far away.
③ Satellites can finish hard and useful jobs in a fast and safe way.
④ After a big flood, satellites can fly over the clouds to find which villages are in danger. Driving there by car may take many hours, but a satellite gives the information within just a few minutes.
⑤ For farmers, satellites can show where the ground is too dry or where bugs are eating the crops. At night, satellites with special cameras can easily find a forest fire in the dark.
⑥ Satellites also help everyday life. For example, when you use a map on your phone to find the way to school, that map is made better by satellites. They also help coaches see where their players run during a football game.
⑦ In a word, satellites have been widely used in communication, weather forecasting, farming, rescue and more, with new uses on the way.
⑧ As satellites are cheaper, smaller and more helpful than before, they have become an important driving force for the growth of the space economy. Besides big groups like CNSA and ESA, more small companies have appeared. At the end of 2025, there were about 10,000 registered satellites around the world. The satellite industry is believed to be full of opportunities.
31.What is the purpose of Paragraph 1?
A.To tell a story. B.To lead into the subject.
C.To compare two stars. D.To introduce a festival.
32.How do satellites get electricity?
A.From the wind. B.From solar panels.
C.From the ground directly. D.From burning fuel.
33.What does the underlined word “rescue” in Paragraph 7 mean?
A.救援 B.训练 C.比赛 D.建造
34. Which shows the structure?
A.①/②/③④⑤/⑥⑦/⑧ B.①/②③④⑤/⑥/⑦⑧
C.①②/③④⑤⑥/⑦/⑧ D.①/②/③④⑤⑥/⑦/⑧
35.What can we infer from the passage?
A.Satellites are only for fun. B.Satellites make space economy grow.
C.Satellites are hard for common people to use. D.Satellites can only take photos.
【答案】 1.B 2.B 3.A 4.D 5.B

Passage 3
As Earth’s neighbor, Mars has a similar environment to Earth. For years, humans have been exploring the Red Planet and hope to live on it one day.
On July 23,2020, China launched its first Mars probe (探测器). It is called Tianwen-1. The name comes from the poem Tianwen. Qu Yuan, a famous poet of the Warring States Period wrote it. The probe landed on the surface of Mars on May 15, 2021. China is the second country in the world to make it. It was a great success.
________ As we know, Mars is very far from Earth. Every 26 months, Mars is closest to Earth. This is the best time to launch a Mars probe. Doing this can save energy, time and money. If we don’t launch the probe in 2020, we’ll have to wait another two years.
A probe has to fly a very long way before landing on Mars. Because the signal from Earth is weak, the lander has to land by itself. “Each step had only one chance. If there was any mistake, the landing would fail,” Geng Yan, an official from the China National Space Administration said.
The Mars probe has three parts—the orbiter (轨道飞行器), the lander and the rover. Within a week after the landing, the Mars rover, Zhurong, will begin working. Zhurong is named after the god of fire in ancient Chinese stories. It is the sixth rover on Mars, following five others launched by the United States. If everything goes well, Zhurong will work for at least three months and carry out scientific studies on Mars like taking pictures and videos of Mars, finding out if there is any water or ice under the surface of Mars and checking the temperature or climate on it.
“A larger probe will set off for the planet sometime around 2030 to take samples and return them to Earth,” a CNSA official said.
1.What can we learn from Paragraph 2?
A.Qu Yuan named Chinese first Mars probe Tianwen-1.
B.Tianwen was a famous poet of the Warring States Period.
C.Tianwen-1 flew for about 10 months before landing on Mars.

Passage 2
CLASSICAL ERA
The term “classical” is often used to tell the difference between serious music and popular music. The symphony (交响乐) developed in this period. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, there were two of the most famous composers.
Mozart was a talented composer and performed all over Europe at the age of six. He wrote the famous opera The Magic Flute. The German composer Beethoven was completely deaf for the last 10 years of his life but he continued to compose some of the greatest music in the world. Symphony No. 9 is one of them. His late works moved toward the Romantic movement.
ROMANTIC MOVEMENT
From about 1820, composers started using new harmonies (和声) and forms to create music full of different emotions. Composers cared more about creating dramas, painting pictures in sound, or telling stories.
The Russian composer Tchaikovsky was unhappy in his personal life, which brought great emotional depth to his music. He wrote many well-known works, including the famous Overture 1812.
MODERN MUSIC
In the 20th century, there were great changes in serious music. The music composed by Stravinsky was difficult for people to understand. Stravinsky’s The Firebird caused a sensation at its first performance in Paris in 1910. It was a big success. The music was so different and powerful that it made the young composer famous across Europe. The German Stockhausen challenged listeners’ ideas about music. In Zyklus, for example, he let the drummer start playing from any page of the music, and then play it in their own order.

Passage 2
Have you ever looked up at a huge, bright full moon and felt a sense of magic? In China, that feeling is at the heart of the Mid-Autumn Festival, a time for family reunion and giving thanks for the harvest. For over 3,000 years, families have gathered under the moonlight, sharing stories while enjoying sweet mooncakes and fragrant osmanthus tea (桂花茶).
But is this ancient tradition still important in our modern world? Absolutely! While the core (核心的) value of family love remains unchanged, technology has given it a new life. Imagine a grandmother in a village, smiling as she sees her grandson in a faraway city on a video call—it’s a digital reunion under the same moon. Creative e-greetings and mooncakes delivered by apps are now common, proving that the spirit of care can travel through screens.
What’s even more exciting is a renewed interest in the festival among the youth. Beyond the delicious food, they are exploring the deeper beauty of the festival. Some organize poetry gatherings in parks, writing verses (诗歌) under the silver moonlight. Others dress in beautiful Hanfu, taking photos that look like ancient paintings come to life. This isn’t about rejecting (拒绝) the modern world; it’s about blending (混合) the old with the new to create something even more meaningful and exciting.
So, the Mid-Autumn Festival is far from being an old tradition of the past. It is a lively, living tradition. It teaches us a beautiful lesson: the ways we celebrate may evolve (演变), but the warm human feelings of love, gratitude (感激), and hope are what truly light up the night, brighter than the moon itself.

A.It has replaced the need for family reunions.
B.It provides new tools to show love and connect with families.
C.It makes traditional mooncakes less popular.

3.The underlined word “lively” in the last paragraph is closest in meaning to “________”.
A.old and forgotten B.full of life and energy
C.strict and serious D.simple and easy
4.What does the example of young people writing poetry and wearing Hanfu show?
A.They are not interested in modern technology.
B.They are creating new ways to connect with traditional culture.
C.They prefer ancient lifestyles to modern ones.
D.They think the traditional ways of celebrating are boring.
5.What is the “beautiful lesson” that the festival teaches us according to the passage?

Dragon Boat Festival, one of the most important traditional festivals in China, falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month every year.
The festival honors the poet of the Warring States Period who said, “When all the world in mud has sunk, Alone I’m clean; When all the people are drunk, Sober I’m seen.” He drowned himself in the Miluo River because of the corruption (腐败) of the Chu government. The local people, knowing him to be a good man, decided to throw food into the river to feed the fishes to prevent them from eating his body. They also used dragon boats with drums to scare them away.
As a symbol of traditional Chinese culture, the dragon boat race is known as a traditional custom of the festival. Boats used in the race look like Chinese dragons. The winning team is said to bring luck and happiness to the people of their village.
Zongzi is a must-eat food. Made of sticky rice and wrapped in reed (芦苇) or bamboo leaves, it comes in various shapes and fillings. People in northern China use red jujubes (枣), while southerners prefer beans, meat, or egg yolk (蛋黄).
Besides, parents dress their children with perfume pouches. These small bags, sewn from colorful silk, are filled with special medicines. Hung around the neck or on clothes, they’re believed to keep evil spirits away.

Passage 1
Life in modern cities has more in common with that in ancient Rome than you might think. Fried chicken is a kind of popular fast food today, because it cooks fast in hot oil. It’s great for people who want meat without waiting. A study found ancient Romans did something similar. They often fried thrushes (small songbirds) and sold them on the streets.
Pollentia is an ancient city on the island of Mallorca. Not long ago, scientists found something exciting on the island—a fast food stall from Roman times. Near the food stall is a 4-metre-deep waste pit (垃圾坑). Inside the pit, scientists found animal bones and other waste. One of the most surprising findings is the bones of thrushes. This shows that they were part of the Roman menu. Alejandro Valenzuela, the leader of the study, says the findings show how Romans used seasonal foods for quick meals.
After studying the bird bones, scientists found there were many thrush skulls and breastbones (头骨和胸骨), but not many leg and wing bones. This suggests people cooked and ate the parts with more meat and threw the remains into the pit. Historical records also show that some people caught birds and sold them to vendors. The vendors then cooked and sold them in stalls.
Besides thrushes, the pit had bones from chickens and rabbits too. This shows the Roman menu was diverse, not just birds. So, ancient Romans were a lot like us — they loved quick, tasty meals too!
1.How does the writer start the passage?
A.By giving some examples.
B.By telling a historical story.
C.By explaining the meaning of “fast food”.
D.By comparing modern fast food with ancient Roman food.
2.What did scientists find in the waste pit?
A.Ancient menus. B.Tools for frying food.
C.Recipes for Roman dishes. D.Bones of thrushes and other animals.
3.Why were there not many thrush leg and wing bones in the pit?
A.People sold them. B.People ate those parts.

1.What is the special material inside the shoes used for?
A.Making the shoes lighter. B.Killing bacteria and bad smells.
C.Keeping the feet warm. D.Changing the colour of shoes.

Passage 3
A team of people work together to row a dragon boat. When the race starts, rowers move in harmony, following the rapid drumbeats, aiming for the finish line.
Many poets have also depicted (描绘) this festival custom in their verses. The famous poet Su Shi once wrote “The red jade army are lightly wrapped with colored threads, and the small runes hang on the green cloud servant girls.”

A.People sold them. B.People ate those parts.
C.They broke down quickly. D.People used them for medicine.
4.What does the underlined word “them” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A.Bones. B.Birds. C.Records. D.Scientists.

B.Ancient Romans lived in cities similar to modern ones.
C.Thrushes were the most popular food in ancient Rome.
