写作 第一节 参考范文
Dear Tom,
Knowing that you have a keen interest in Chinese traditional handicrafts but failed to sign up for the coming activity for some reasons, I feel terribly sorry for that. Don’t worry, I’ve already got you registered.
The activity will offer us a precious chance to get close to folk art. Under the guidance of local craftsmen, participants will learn to make paper-cuttings and knot-works, experiencing the charm of traditional culture first-hand.
It will take place in the school art hall next Friday afternoon. Please remember to gather at the school gate at 13:30, from where we will walk to the hall together. Don’t forget to bring your notebook if you want to take some notes.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节 参考范文
Looking at the photos and videos they had taken, Chloe and Nora came up with an idea to spread their efforts. They sorted out those heartbreaking shots of injured sea creatures and polluted shore, editing them into a thought-provoking short documentary. Apart from releasing it on popular social platforms, they also gave speeches in the local community, calling on residents to shoulder the responsibility of ocean protection. Their sincere appeal struck a chord with the public. Moved by their commitment, local fishermen promised to recycle worn-out fishing nets instead of casting them into the sea. Numerous volunteers flooded in, participating in regular beach clean-ups and helping hand out leaflets to raise visitors’ environmental awareness.
Six months went by, and remarkable changes swept across the coastline. Heaps of plastic waste had vanished completely. The golden sands lay neat and tidy, crystal-clear waves gently lapped the shore. Seabirds glided gracefully over the sparkling water, and occasionally lively sea turtles dragged themselves onto the beach to enjoy sunshine. Informative boards stood along the coast, reminding every visitor to guard the ocean ecosystem. Gazing at the vibrant and peaceful scene, Chloe and Nora felt an immense sense of achievement. It dawned on them that collective power could work wonders, and even ordinary teenagers were capable of bringing about positive transformations to the world.

A Warrior of Code on Army Day
As China marks Army Day on August 1, the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee has awarded Wang the national title of “Role Model of the Times”. Wang Ji, a researcher and a doctoral supervisor at the College of Computer Science and Technology of the National University of Defense Technology. While many service members defend the nation’s borders, he pursues his quiet mission behind countless lines of digital code.
Wang is widely acknowledged as a pioneer in China’s high-confidence software sector. Under his leadership, the team built a complete theoretical framework and technical system for this field. His work safeguards the safety and stability of core software employed in major national equipment systems, with many innovative research achievements reaching internationally advanced levels.
More than a decade ago, his life took an unexpected turn. A severe illness led to the amputation (截肢) of both legs. In the years that followed, he suffered from kidney failure and now requires regular dialysis (透析). Yet no hardship could weaken his resolve. Moving around in a wheelchair, he stays optimistic and persistent. “As long as my mind is clear and my hands can still move, I can keep working,” Wang often shares with colleagues and students. He never slows down his scientific pursuits. Up to now, he has guided over 120 postgraduate students, cultivating a team of competent professionals in high-confidence software development.
Wang Ji is regarded as an outstanding representative of military educators and science and technology workers in the new era. A. It offers new cures for serious rare diseases.
B. It sets up new rules for higher education management.

Why does a heatwave often feel as if a huge lid is pressing down on cities? In recent years, long-lasting and extremely-hot heatwaves have repeatedly swept across North America, Europe and parts of Asia including China. Authorities in these areas constantly release heat warnings, with record-high temperatures remaining for days or even weeks. Such abnormal extreme heat is largely caused by a powerful atmospheric phenomenon known as the heat dome, a major driver of extreme summer weather across the globe.
Readers often mix up heat domes and heatwaves, so telling the two terms apart is essential. In plain terms, a heat dome is a stable high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere, comparable to a tight lid placed on a boiling pot, trapping hot air right above the ground. A heatwave, by contrast, describes the period of unusual high temperatures people experience directly. Major long-lived heatwaves are mostly brought on by heat domes, whereas mild heatwaves can develop from other weather conditions.
Heat domes form through a consistent sequence of events. First, a high-pressure belt takes shape high up in the atmosphere. It pushes air masses toward the ground, and compression (压缩) of sinking air naturally boosts local air temperatures. Meanwhile, this steady high-pressure system prevents cloud and rain formation, leaving skies cloud-free. Unfiltered sunlight continuously heats the planet’s surface. Eventually, slow-moving and still jet streams keep the high-pressure system fixed over one area, creating a self-sustaining damaging heating cycle.
Heat domes do real harm to natural surroundings and human well-being. Trapped hot air combined with high humidity prevents sweat evaporation (蒸发), the body’s main cooling method. Overnight temperatures barely see any decline, greatly raising the chances of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. In addition, sustained extreme heat dries up soil, raising wildfire risks and leading to reduced crop harvests. Scientific studies prove that human-caused global warming makes heat domes more frequent, stronger and longer-lasting than in previous decades.
28. What can we know from the first two paragraphs?
A. Mild heatwaves are just from heat domes.
B. Heat domes can cause long-lasting heatwaves.
C. Heat warnings are seldom issued during heatwaves.
D. Heatwaves occur merely in North America and Europe.
29. What is the correct order of how a heat dome comes into being?
① No clouds form and sunlight heats the earth’s surface.
② Sinking air is compressed and local temperature rises.
③ Jet streams keep the high-pressure system in one place.
④ A strong high-pressure ridge forms high in the atmosphere.
A. ④②①③. B. ②④①③. C. ④②③①. D. ①④②③.
30. What result may heat domes bring about?
A. Reduced crop quality. B. Higher risk of heatstroke.
C. Fewer wildfire possibilities. D. No drop of night temperatures.
31. What is the best title for the text?
A. Heat Warnings: Reminders Issued during Extreme Heat
B. Heatwaves: A Global Climate Disaster Destroying Crops
C. Global Warming: The Root of All Severe Natural Disasters
D. Heat Dome: An Atmospheric Phenomenon behind Extreme Heat

Nowadays, pictures and videos of all sorts of animals frequently go viral online. People are touched by the apparent joy, friendship and playfulness shown by these animals. Unfortunately, the initial enthusiasm for these posts is often squashed when some people rightly note that the animal’s reaction is not joy or pleasure, but fear, anger or pain.
We often get such cases wrong because we understand the emotional meaning of many behaviors automatically and unconsciously. This is one form of anthropomorphism (拟人化): interpreting animals in the way we interpret other human beings. The traditional view holds that anthropomorphism is mainly a mistake caused by over-estimating animals’ intelligence. In recent decades, many authors have pushed back against this attitude to anthropomorphism, arguing animals are a lot like us and many “anthropomorphic” claims about animals are actually true.
Instead of getting caught in a black-and-white debate, however, I want a more complicated, informed discussion of competing ideas. Once we accept that animals do have emotions, we can acknowledge that the mistake of anthropomorphism is not seeing emotion where there is none — but seeing the wrong emotion.
Human perceptual, emotional and cognitive capacities help us understand one another socially. They generally work well for human interaction, yet things can become confusing when we use them to understand animals.
A much-studied example is the “grin” of primates (灵长类动物). It turns out that the animal is not happy. Its exact signal meaning differs from species to species, but it usually shows something close to fear or anxiety, often displayed by a weak individual in a tense social situation. This is actually anthropomorphism: you explain an animal’s behavior exactly as you would explain a human’s behavior. This type of anthropomorphism is a cognitive bias (认知偏差), which comes from quick shortcuts in our thought process, mostly without our awareness.
We ought to approach anthropomorphism from the perspective of bias. Traditionally, people’s assumptions about when and how humans anthropomorphize were so fixed that its psychological cause seemed hardly worth investigating. Still, different points of view can be found. For example, zoologists Jesus Rivas and Gordon Burghardt, although they support anthropomorphic understanding of animals, point out that it can be tricky: “Anthropomorphism comes in many forms and can catch you off guard!” Recognizing its various forms is progress, yet evidence-based research is urgently needed to explore its hidden psychological mechanisms.
32. What does the underlined word “squashed” in paragraph 1 probably mean?
A. Wakened. B. Reduced. C. Misguided. D. Underestimated.
33. What can we learn about anthropomorphism?
A. It turns animals’ negative emotions into positive ones.
B. It fails to recognize the high intelligence of animal species.
C. It arises when we apply human ways of understanding to animals.
D. It helps people take shortcuts in observing animal behavior.
34. Why does the author quote Jesus Rivas and Gordon Burghardt?
A. To confirm the value of anthropomorphism.
B. To warn us against the limits of animal research.
C. To show the complex nature of anthropomorphism.
D. To inspire us to view anthropomorphism positively.
35. What is the author’s purpose of writing the text?
A. To analyze a worrying social tendency.
B. To judge whether a theory is believable.
C. To find out where a social phenomenon comes from.
D. To put forward a new angle for studying a problem.

There are a lot of strategies for visiting a museum and avoiding “museum tiredness”. A well planned trip can save your energy and make your tour more rewarding. 36
Regardless of a museum’s size, you’ll get tired quickly if you try to look closely at every object displayed. Likewise, most museums flood visitors with background information about the exhibits. So don’t try to read every single word on display. 37 “Tombstone” labels, short and concise, deliver basic facts including the artist’s name, origin and production date. There may also be registration numbers recording when the piece entered the collection, as well as credit lines acknowledging donors. Besides tombstone labels, object labels accompany most exhibits. 38 The writing standards of museum labels have long caused heated arguments among art historians and museum practitioners over balance between accuracy and readability.
39 You can pick up a floor plan there or turn to staff for recommendations of must-see pieces in permanent collections or temporary shows. Plenty of institutions offer guided tours, audio guides or mobile applications to direct visitors to those highlights.
Some visitors choose to limit their stay to one or two hours to prevent tiredness. 40 Apart from benches scattered across exhibition halls, the majority of museums feature cafes, gift shops, sculpture courts and gardens, all available for you to pause and recharge yourself.
A. You will come across two major varieties of labels.
B. Stopping by the information desk is a worthwhile move.
C. Even well selected highlights may fail to match your taste.
D. Such labels are designed to reveal hidden details of artworks.
E. Making regular breaks part of your schedule is equally advisable.
F. The following practical tips will greatly improve your museum experience.
G. It is strongly recommended that you pay multiple short visits to local museums.

注意:
In a coastal community near Brighton, a disheartening issue had been troubling local residents for years. Once golden sands were littered with plastic bags and broken bottles. Dirty foam drifted on the shallow water. From time to time, passers-by spotted seabirds trapped in plastic ropes, struggling desperately to free their wings. Occasionally, weak sea turtles would be seen crawling onto shore, suffering from swallowing plastic waste. The once-picturesque shoreline was spoiled by piles of plastic waste that kept building up day by day. Many wildlife-lovers grew upset at the terrible scene, yet few took practical action. It was in this situation that two young students, Chloe and Nora, decided to take matters into their own hands.
Chloe and Nora were classmates and best friends from Brighton High School, both passionate about environmental preservation and deeply concerned about the coastal marine-pollution crisis. Witnessing more injured sea creatures washed up on the beach, they knew they could not stand by any longer. Determined to bring about a change, they undertook a mission that would soon catch the whole community’s attention.
Their journey began with thorough research and planning. To carry out their work more efficiently, the two girls decided to split up. Chloe searched online for marine-protection projects and contacted local marine biologists, who told them plastic ropes and abandoned fishing nets posed the greatest threat to sea wildlife. Nora talked with beach-goers and fishermen to gather first-hand information. To her surprise, fishermen admitted they often threw worn-out nets into the sea, while some visitors had little awareness of ocean pollution. Armed with this knowledge, they worked hard to form a comprehensive protection plan, sharing it with local residents to seek their advice in the meantime. And Chloe and Nora recorded the whole process with their camera for future reference.
