Nowadays, teenagers’ growth and pocket‑money management draw lots of social attention. Many teenagers are full of creativity. However, quite a few teenagers do not have good habits in dealing with pocket money.
Some teenagers from wealthy families spend money without thinking. They buy expensive laptops or other fancy things just because their classmates have them. They seldom make a budget and hardly realise the real value of money.
Educators give some useful advice for teenagers. First, make a clear budget for your pocket money every month. Second, form good saving habits. You can put part of your money in your piggy bank or your own account. Third, try to tell wants from needs. Do not buy things just because they are on sale.

China stops food delivery (递送) wars
China’s government is stepping in to control fierce (激烈的) competition between three big food delivery companies: JD.com, Meituan and Ele.me. These companies are fighting for more customers by offering huge discounts and special benefits, causing problems in the market.
The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), China’s top market regulator, recently held a meeting with these companies. They warned them to follow laws about fair competition, online business, and food safety. The government wants to protect customers, restaurants, and delivery workers.
The competition started in February 2025 when JD.com entered the food delivery market. To attract workers, JD promised full-time riders social insurance and housing funds. Currently, Meituan and Ele. me control 98% of the market together. To fight back, Meituan said it would also pay social insurance for riders, while Ele.me launched a “Billion-Yuan Subsidy” program with big discounts.
The companies even copied each other’s services. Meituan created a new “Flash Sale” platform, and Alibaba’s Ele. me expanded its one-hour delivery service nationwide. Sometimes, the competition turned ugly. JD.com accused (控告) Meituan of forcing riders to reject JD’s orders, making some riders lose 16-25% of their income. Meituan denied (否认) this.
China’s tech companies often use price wars and subsidies (补贴) to beat competitors. The government has fined big companies like Alibaba and Meituan in recent years to keep the market fair. Experts say heavy discounts work when a market is growing, but now they might harm the industry. Customers might only care about low prices, and restaurants could lower food quality to save money.
A government department focused on social issues also joined the meeting, showing concern for over 10 million delivery riders. “Price wars hurt everyone,” said Zhang Yi, a market analyst. “Companies should focus on better food and service instead of burning money.”
13. Why did China’s government hold a meeting with JD.com, Meituan, and Ele.me?
A. To help them make more money.
B. To stop unfair competition in food delivery.
C. To create new delivery services.
D. To increase food prices.
14. The phrase “price wars” in the article most likely means ________.
A. governments setting price limits
B. companies fighting by lowering prices
C. restaurants selling expensive food
D. customers refusing to pay high prices
15. What does Zhang Yi, the market analyst, think about price wars?
A. They are necessary for market growth.
B. They benefit both companies and customers.
C. They harm the industry in the long term.
D. They should be supported by the government
16. What is the main purpose of the article?
A. To explain how food delivery companies make money.
B. To compare the working conditions of delivery riders.
C. To advertise new services from JD, Meituan and Ele.me.
D. To describe the government’s action against unhealthy competition in food delivery.

四、阅读与表达(共4小题,41~43小题,每小题2分,44小题4分;满分10分)
阅读短文,然后根据内容回答问题。
When it comes to mobile payments in China, the QR code (二维码) is the king. However, Alipay, a payment app, introduced a new paying method called “Tap (碰一下)!”. It lets users pay by simply tapping their phones on a small machine. This magic trick uses a technology called NFC, or Near Field Communication.
NFC uses magnetic fields (磁场) to let devices (设备) “talk” to each other. When two phones or a phone and a payment machine are placed very close, they create a tiny magnetic field. This field helps them share data safely and quickly, almost like sharing secrets that only they can hear.
Sony and Philips first developed NFC in 2002, but it didn’t become popular until Apple Pay started in 2014. Now, NFC is everywhere! You can use it to open apartment doors, share photos between phones, or even check your pet’s ID card by tapping your phone. If your pet gets lost, scanning (扫描) the card helps others return it safely.
NFC is faster and safer than using QR codes. While QR codes need you to scan a square box, NFC just requires a tap. It uses strong secret codes to protect your money. What’s more, since NFC only works when devices are centimetres apart, thieves can’t steal your information from far away.
Experts say QR codes and NFC won’t take the place of each other. They’re like best friends helping in different situations. For example, at a parking lot, QR codes are more convenient because you can scan them from farther away. But at stores, NFC’s quick tap saves more time.
So next time you see someone tap his or her phone to pay, you’ll know—it’s NFC magic, making life easier and safer!
41. How does the paying method “Tap” let users pay?
________________________________________________________________________
42. What helps two devices share data safely and quickly?
________________________________________________________________________
43. Why is NFC considered safer than QR codes for payments?
________________________________________________________________________
44. Do you prefer to use NFC or QR codes to pay? Why?
________________________________________________________________________
【答案】41. By simply tapping their phones on a small machine.
42. A tiny magnetic field.
43. Because NFC uses strong secret codes to protect your money and it only works when devices are centimetres apart.
44. I prefer NFC. Because it saves my time.
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了NFC“碰一下”支付技术,讲解它的工作原理、发展历史、优点,并且对比了NFC和二维码支付各自的适用场景。
【41题详解】

【42题详解】
根据文章第2段“When two phones or a phone and a payment machine are placed very close, they create a tiny magnetic field. This field helps them share data safely and quickly, almost like sharing secrets that only they can hear.”可知,当两部手机或者手机和支付设备靠近时,会产生一个微小磁场,这个磁场帮助设备安全快速地传输数据,提取对应信息整理得到答案。
【43题详解】
根据文章第4段“It uses strong secret codes to protect your money. What’s more, since NFC only works when devices are centimetres apart, thieves can’t steal your information from far away.”可知,NFC使用高强度密码保护资金。此外,它仅在设备相距几厘米时生效,小偷无法远距离窃取信息,整合两点原因得到答案。
【44题详解】

Nowadays, teenagers’ growth and pocket‑money management draw lots of social attention. Many teenagers are full of creativity.

42. What helps two devices share data safely and quickly?
