Although it is easy to operate, students should not step onto it without reading the safety label first. The machine should be used only after basic instruction. If you feel faint, dizzy or in pain during exercise, stop at once and tell the teacher or fitness room staff. ★Treadmill Quick Guide STAGE WHAT TO DO Before starting Stand on the two top steps located on each side of the running belt. Safety check Attach the emergency-stop clip to clothing. Starting Tap Quick Start and wait. During exercise Use handrails for support and balance. Stopping Press STOP to stop the running belt. After use Remove the emergency-stop key if asked. ★Treadmill Safety Information ★Key Reminders Before and After Use The emergency-stop key is especially important. Before starting, attach the emergency-stop clip firmly to your clothing. Make sure the clip engages enough clothing so it does not fall off. The line should be free of knots and long enough for you to work out comfortably with the key in place. If you move too far back, the key can be pulled out of the console (控制台) and the treadmill will stop. After exercise, students should leave the treadmill clean and safe for the next user. Wait until the belt has completely stopped, step onto the side steps, and wipe the console or handrails if necessary. The rule is simple: use the treadmill not only to train your body, but also to practise safe and responsible use of shared equipment. 21. What is the main purpose of the text? A. A user who leaves knots in the line. B Miniatures (微缩模型) of the television and film sets that you love are so detailed that you think you are looking at photos of Monica’s living room from Friends, the comic store from The Big Bang Theory, or Flourish and Blotts bookshop from Harry Potter. They are the creations of Los Angeles artist Bridget McCarty whose attention to detail is absolutely amazing. McCarty has not only recreated the sets, according to My Modern Met, she has also included tiny items (小物品) of what made the sets memorable. The miniatures are so detailed that it can take up to a month to complete one. McCarty was inspired by the miniatures her grandmother collected. As a child, she was never allowed to touch those fine items, which made her even more attracted to them. McCarty began making miniatures as a hobby while she was studying animation (动画) in school but she soon started going to exhibitions and set up a small online shop. People were so fascinated by her work that it became a full-time job when she was 22. “Other artists bought my pieces and that motivated me to keep it up,” said McCarty. McCarty makes them from what she described as “anything you can imagine”. “When I go to the craft store, watch my favorite TV shows and movies, and visit theme parks or other places, my mind will be blown by ideas,” she said. The miniature sets are doll-sized rooms that are made from wooden boxes and are dimensionally 50 cm or less. The scale (比例) is perfect even to the food being cooked in a kitchen and the tiny bag of chips being poured into an equally tiny bowl. “Though each work takes a lot of time and energy, I love having a finished piece and knowing I used my best skills to create it,” she said. “It can really take you away to another world and inspire many more people.” 24. Why are the television and film sets mentioned in paragraph 1? A. To show how amazing McCarty’s creations are. B. To prove the popularity of McCarty’s art pieces. C. To highlight the significance of art appreciation. D. To illustrate the procedure of creating miniatures. 25. What caused McCarty to fall in love with miniatures? A. Her college major. B. Her grandmother’s collections. C. Other artists’ recognition. D. Frequent visits to exhibitions. 26. What does McCarty do to create her work? A. Complete each piece within a few days. B. Take up many roles in the film industry. C. Draw inspiration from daily experiences. D. Copy designs from other miniature artists. 27. What does McCarty think of creating miniatures? A. Useless but relaxing. B. Effortless and inspiring. C. Challenging but meaningful. D. Time-consuming and uninteresting. C According to NASA, wildfires have doubled worldwide because of climate change. Throughout the globe, governments and environmentalists have been trying to find ways to curb the fires. One particular national park in Spain has found a solution that has been keeping it fire-free for over ten years: donkeys (驴). Since 2014, the Firefighting Donkey Battalion made up of 18 donkeys has been preventing wildfires in Doñana National Park in Doñana, Spain. The mission of these donkeys is simple: to eat the dry brush that usually causes and strengthens wildfires. The donkeys spend up to seven hours a day grazing (吃草) and clearing a 130 by 50 feet area of dried grass, scrub, and other vegetation (植被). While humans can do this type of dry brush clearing, using donkeys for this work is arguably more effective. Donkeys are able to quietly walk in areas that vehicles can’t reach. In exchange for finishing the meal, the donkeys get lots of water and rest. No money or other supplies needed. The donkeys’ bodies are also built for this kind of environmental work, too. Their stomachs can eat dry grass repeatedly without issues. These daily grazings slowly but surely remove possible sources of fires. Having donkeys or other animals graze in such areas was once more common in agriculture before modern farming. Some argue that the mechanization of farming and urbanization have reduced the number of grazing animals. This in turn leads to more vegetation growth, which creates dry spots where more wildfires can occur. This method has been so successful that other areas of Spain have adopted it. In 2020, Tivissa started the Burros Bomberos project with three donkeys, and now they have 40 donkeys grazing and clearing nearly 400 hectares of land. The Andrea Association in Allariz uses a team of donkeys to clear and maintain nearly 1,000 hectares of a biosphere reserve. According to the GPS used to monitor the donkeys’ activity, the group of grazers travel 19 kilometers per day to feed. 28. What does the underlined word “curb” in paragraph 1 probably mean? A. Forecast. B. Survive. C. Monitor. D. Control. 29. What are the 18 donkeys expected to do? A. Figure out signs of wildfires. B. Remove possible sources of fires. C. Eat fresh grass in several parks. D. Help firefighters put out wildfires. 30. What does paragraph 3 focus on concerning donkeys? A. Their advantages. B. Their responsibilities. C. Their survival strategies. D. Their incredible achievements. 31. What can be known about the method? A. It is widely accepted. B. It is limited to farmland. C. It threatens donkeys’ lives. D. It was uncommon in the past. D There are relatively few snow leopards (雪豹) in the world for a long time, and this situation increases their risk of extinction in a changing environment, according to a new Stanford-led study, which found that snow leopards developed low genetic diversity from having a small and stable population over a long period of time. The estimated population of less than 8,000 is highly specialized to their habitat in the mountainous regions of 12 Asian countries, including Russia, Afghanistan, Nepal, and China. Previous to this research, not much was known about snow leopard genetics. Only four had ever been fully sequenced (测序). This study brings that number to 41, including 35 wild snow leopards and six from zoos around the world. Achieving that number required years of work and researchers and wildlife officials from 11 countries all contributed snow leopard blood and tissue samples for analysis at Stanford. Katie Solari, a research scientist in biology in Stanford working with Stanford biologist Dmitri Petrov and co-workers, found evidence that snow leopards not only had low genetic diversity, but also a significantly lower “homozygous load” — meaning that when leopards get genes from each parent, there’re fewer instances of them having copies of potentially harmful mutations (突变). This suggests that over time, snow leopards had a periodic clearing of bad mutations in their population: If a negative characteristic surfaced, those individuals died before reproducing or their children were less successful. This clearing allowed the snow leopard population to remain relatively healthy even at their small numbers. While snow leopards have been adaptive as a small population, that doesn’t mean they’ll stand future challenges. “Because their habitat is so uninhabitable, human population growth didn’t really affect snow leopards very much,” said Petrov. “However, the climate changes, which affects everyone and everything, even in such remote areas.” This knowledge will inform conservation efforts for snow leopards, considered a keystone species in their region. They primarily hunt mountain ungulates like the blue sheep of Tibet and smaller mammals, including the pika. “The loss of the leopards would indicate the decline of the whole ecosystem,” Petrov said. 32. What did the recent study reveal about snow leopards? A. Their reproduction rate is declining. B. They are losing their natural habitat. C. Their population is temporarily stable. D. They possess limited genetic variation. 33. What challenge did researchers face in their study? A. The little exposure to snow leopards. B. The complicated process of sequencing. C. Difficulty in obtaining enough samples. D. Opposition from wildlife organizations. 34. What might be the biggest future threat to snow leopards? A. Loss of genetic diversity. B. Worsening global warming. C. Increasing human activities. D. Competition for food resources. 35. What does the author intend to illustrate by mentioning snow leopards’ diet? A. Their ecological significance. B. Their unwelcoming habitats. C. Their rich food sources. D. Their unique way of life. Trying new things and taking on challenges can make your brain sharper. ____36____. Here are four more benefits of being an adventure seeker. You will adapt to change more easily. ____37____. They enjoy engaging with unfamiliar things, are naturally curious about the world, and creatively adapt to change instead of being fearful of it. ____38____. Participating in an adventurous physical activity can lead to higher levels of what experts call self-efficacy, or a belief in your abilities. Other types of adventure — running for public office, doing improv (即兴表演) at your local comedy club, or taking virtual singing lessons — build your confidence, too. The more you push past your comfort zone and feel proud of yourself for doing so, the more confident you’ll become. You will feel more content with life. Adventurous people tend to have stronger feelings of satisfaction about how they’re living their lives. “____39____,” says Frank Farley, a professor at Temple University. “That is because participating in something challenging is associated with pleasure — even when the activity itself is difficult, completing it brings joy.” You will feel a sense of flow. When you’re in the zone, meaning highly focused and engaged, everything else except what you’re concentrating on falls away, and a general sense of well-being takes over. This feel-good state is known as the flow, and research shows that participants in adventure sports are able to achieve it. If your brain is in the flow state, rhythmic spikes of dopamine, which is associated with engagement and pleasure, are likely to occur. ____40____. A. You will gain more confidence B. They always have a sense of happiness C. You will step out of your comfort zone D. And that’s just one of the many things adventure does for you E. It was the first Easter we had ever spent away from home. Being an anxious and sensitive six-year-old, I had asked my mom several times if the Easter Bunny would be able to find us. She assured me there would be eggs. On Easter morning, we found the Easter Bunny had left eggs on the hotel’s main lawn (草地) for all the kids. As I joined the other kids, I found they were much bigger than me. The hotel staff member in charge of the hunt explained the rules — only kids could pick up the eggs and adults could just provide help or encouragement. My heart raced as I watched the other kids get into a pose to start. When the staff member yelled (大叫) “GO!”, the other kids ran from tree to tree looking for the plastic Easter eggs filled with candy. I ran to the closest tree but found nothing. My dad waved me on encouragingly as my mom walked behind me. When I looked across the lawn and saw others holding up eggs, I knew my chances were becoming slimmer. Just then, my mom pointed to a small tree. “Look! There’s one!” A shiny blue egg was resting on the ground against the base. I looked up at her with excitement. But instead of smiling back, she was staring to the left, at a bigger kid. My mom said to me, “Run after me!” I had never seen my petite (娇小的) mom run before. She had been born with weak knees and had worn special shoes to correct a foot problem. To be honest, I sometimes felt embarrassed for my mom’s “strange” figure. I still remembered the school fair where other kids pointed at her and whispered. From then on, I always begged her to stay behind me in crowded places. She never complained — she would just smile and take a step back. Desiring to get the egg, I followed my mom’s advice. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I held up the shiny blue egg and smiled at my mom. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 随州市行知高中2026-2027学年高二第一学期9月月考 英语试题 考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段对话。 How will the girl go to school today? After all, it’s your hotel that made the mistake, so you should find a solution. W: Well, I’m not sure, sir. I’ll have a word with my manager. Okay, sir, my manager says that is fine. M: Great, thank you. And can I get an extra bed if we need one? W: Yes, of course. Could you please show me your ID card? M: Sure, here it is. W: Okay, here’s your key card. 17. What is the speaker doing? A. Reporting a study. B. Giving a lecture. C. Chairing a meeting. 18. What is one of the reasons for companies’ refusing remote working? A. They will increase operating costs. B. They have heard disadvantages of it. C. They worry employees will work less hard. 19. What does the speaker say about his company? A. 50% of the employees work from home all week. B. All employees work from home one day a week. C. Receptionists don’t work from home. 20. What is the speaker’s attitude towards remote working? A. Positive. B. Negative. C. Unconcerned. B 18. C 19. C 20. M: Hello, my name’s David Watts. Today I’m going to talk about remote working in the future. Companies are unwilling to accept this for a variety of reasons because it’s not what they’re used to because they’re afraid their employees will be lazy if they’re not in the office, because they just don’t see the benefits in allowing their employees to work from home. But those companies that have accepted remote working, and I mean gladly accepted. Have seen it for what it is, an excellent opportunity to develop. At my company, about 50% of our full-time permanent employees now work from home at least three days a week, and the other 50% work from home one day a week, with the exception of departments such as finance, HR and reception. And you know what that means? It means we can rent a smaller space and lower our monthly overhead costs. It means our employees who have children no longer need to quit their job to take care of them. They can stay at home with their kids, look after them and at the same time respond to phone calls and emails. It means that our employees are happy because they save money and time and avoid the stress of traveling to work. And we are happy because they are doing their job better as a result of their flexibility. A Safe Use of the School Fitness Room Treadmill The school fitness room has introduced a new treadmill (跑步机) for students. 24. A 25. B 26. C 27. 根据第二段“The mission of these donkeys is simple: to eat the dry brush that usually causes and strengthens wildfires. (这些驴的任务很简单:吃掉通常引发和加剧野火的干燥灌木)”以及第三段“These daily grazings slowly but surely remove possible sources of fires. 根据第三段“While humans can do this type of dry brush clearing, using donkeys for this work is arguably more effective. 根据最后一段“This method has been so successful that other areas of Spain have adopted it. D 33. C 34. B 35. My parents and I were on vacation at a Florida hotel. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Desiring to get the egg, I followed my mom’s advice. I chased her as fast as I could. Watching her from behind, I noticed her running was awkward — her knees bent oddly and her steps were uneven. Yet she never slowed down — neither did I. She reached the tree first, turned around, and waved her arms wildly. “Over here! Quick,” she shouted, standing right in front of the egg. I ran harder, my heart pounding. When I finally got there, I bent down and picked up the shiny blue egg before the other kid arrived. I held up the shiny blue egg and smiled at my mom. She was out of breath, her face red, but her eyes were full of joy and pride. I suddenly remembered all the times I had felt ashamed of her petite figure. But at that time, I saw her differently. She had run, for the first time, for me — with her weak knees — so that I would not leave empty-handed and disappointed. From that day on, I never felt ashamed of my mom again. Her love made her the greatest person in my world. 词汇激活 行为类 ①追赶:chase/run after/catch up with ②慢下来:slow down/slack sb.’s pace 情绪类 ①高兴:joy/delight ②失望的:disappointed/despondent 【点睛】【高分句型1】When I finally got there, I bent down and picked up the shiny blue egg before the other kid arrived. Companies are unwilling to accept this for a variety of reasons because it's not what they're used to because they are afraid their employees will be lazy if they're not in the office, because they just don't see the benefits in allowing their employees to work from home. But those companies that have accepted remote working and I mean, gladly accepted have seen IT for what IT is an excEllent opportunity to develop at my company. About fifty percent of our full time, permanent employees now work from home at least three days a week, and the other fifty percent work from home one day a week, with the exception of departments such as finance, H, R, and reception. And you know what that means? That means we can rent a smaller space and lower our monthly overhead costs. IT means our employees who have children no longer need to quit their jobs to take care of them. They can stay at home with their kids, look after them and at the same time respond to phone calls and emails. IT means that our employees are happy because they save money in time and avoid the stress of travelling to work, and we are happy because they are doing their job Better as a result of their flexibility.
