At a summer camp in a Southern California suburb, the grandmas were in charge. Every week, they taught a group of 8-to-14-year- olds life skills like how to cook and sew (缝制). “Loneliness is something that seniors are challenged with, and they love having younger people around them,” said Zainab Hussain, a program manager at Olive Community Services, a nonprofit that hosted the camp to bring teens and elderly adults together.
In the camp, a small room was filled with energy as the kids chatted and chewed on snacks. Some grandmas were around and watched, content to just be around the youngsters.
Haqiqah Abdul Rahim, one of the grandmas serving as the instructor for sewing, said many kids don’t learn these skills at school, so they’re filling in a gap. She stood in front of the room at the start of the activity, holding up various tools and explaining what they were. Rahim also didn’t get to spend a lot of time with her grandchildren because they didn’t live close. “It is heartwarming to be able to interact with those who love being around you,” Rahim said.
The summer camp was held in partnership with the Golden Connections Club, started by14-year-old high school student Leena Albinali. She lived with her grandma but realized other students didn't have the same opportunity to spend as much time with their grandparents. She also learned about ageism (年龄歧视) and other challenges faced by senior adults in one of her classes.
“They treat us like we’re their grandchildren,” Albinali said.“ We share what we know about artificial intelligence and its impact on our lives, and the elders share their life stories and advice. One of the most important things they’ve shared with me is to live in the moment, something that’s taken on new meaning for me — The people we have right now are not going to be with us forever.”
24.What is the purpose of the summer camp?
A.To teach kids life skills. B.To help seniors fight loneliness.
C.To connect generations. D.To educate kids to respect seniors.
25.How does Rahim find her job of teaching sewing in the camp?
A.It makes up for the lessons at school.
B.It offers career options to kids in future.
C.It inspires kids’ interest in her profession.
D.It reminds her to contact her grandchildren.
26.What inspired Albinali to set up Golden Connections Club?
A.Her school’s support. B.Her own experience.
C.Seniors’ common voice. D.Ageism her grandma got.
27.What message does Albinali want to convey in the last paragraph?
A.The shared challenges facing generations.
B.The curiosity of seniors about technology.
C.The wisdom of the seniors’ life experience.
D.The enriching exchange across generations.

If you are trying to lose weight, climbing stairs as a regular exercise might be for you. Stairs are available in many places. And research shows stair-climbing is more effective than walking on level ground. “Overall, it is a fact that stair-climbing gets you fit faster and consumes more calories,” said Lauri van Houten, vice president of the International Skyrunning Federation. The organization oversees a number of activities that involve climbing.
“How many calories will I burn is the question everyone wants to know,” van Houten said. “Here’s the good news: The overall energy expenditure of the exercise depends on your weight. Therefore, the more you weigh, the more you burn,” she said.
Studies indicate that going up stairs consumes approximately 20 times more calories compared to walking on flat ground. Additionally, descending stairs burns roughly five times as many calories on account of the work from your muscles to decelerate your body movement. That might be all you need to know if you are trying to lose weight. Dr. Alberto Minetti of Italy’s University of Milan has done a large amount of research on human movement — including stair — climbing. It is an exercise everyone can do and does not cost money, he said.
Minetti did the math to explain why going up stairs is so effective for burning calories in a short amount of time. “To move 1 kilogram of body mass over one horizontal meter, you expend 0.5 calories,” he said. But, he added, “If you move 1 kilogram of body mass vertically on stairs, it’s 10 calories. So it’s 20 times the calories moving vertically rather than horizontally.” Trained as a doctor, Minetti has spent his career as a researcher. He suggested that older people and beginner stair climbers watch their speed. Minetti does his own stair-climbing at his home in Milan. He said he often takes a few deep breaths before going up the many stairs. In a scientific study, Minetti makes the point that using your arms in stair-climbing adds extra power. Handrails offer safety, too.
The study notes that handrails are available along most stairs in very tall buildings. Using them increases “the muscle mass involved...” by getting the arms involved, the study shows. “They are relatively small muscles in the arms, but better than nothing,” Minetti said. If stair-climbing were an Olympic sport, Australian Suzy Walsham would own gold medals. Walsham told the Associated Press that stair-climbing is a good form of exercise for many kinds of people.
28.What can we learn from the first two paragraphs?
A.Stair-climbing contributes to climbers’ health.
B.Stair-climbing is harmful to the climbers’ skeleton.
C.Stair-climbing is the most effective way to lose weight.
D.Stair-climbing needs high-standard equipment for exercise.
29.Why does going down stairs burn more calories than walking on the ground?
A.Because it is an exercise everyone can do.
B.Because you are heavier while going down stairs.
C.Because your muscles have to work to slow the body.
D.Because the overall energy expenditure of exercise depends on your weight.
30.Which of the following statements does Menetti agree with?
A.It is unnecessary to warm up before climbing.
B.Using handrails may avoid the potential danger.
C.Experienced stair-climbers can pay no attention to their speed.
D.You will expend more calories to move horizontally than vertically.
31.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Calorie Burning Facts B.A Sure Way to Burn Calories
C.Suggestions on Climbing Stairs D.Weight Loss Through Exercise

In June 2025, entertainment giants Disney and Universal Studios took legal action against Midjourney, an AI image tool, for breaking copyright laws. The legal case claims Midjourney used thousands of protected characters from Star Wars, superhero films and Pixar films to train its AI without permission. “This is not inspiration; it is mechanical copying,” the complaint states, noting that AI output directly competes with official products.
This case marks a significant increase in AI copyright conflicts. Before, most court cases involved individual artists, but now large companies with large creative works have joined the battle. Disney and Universal seek payment and a court order to remove their protected works from Midjourney’s training data. Experts say the claim could reach hundreds of millions of dollars.
Notably, this controversy also highlights a key technical challenge: current AI systems struggle to tell the difference between legitimate reference and unauthorized copying. A 2025 study by MIT researchers shows that vision-language models — systems that process both images and text — have serious difficulties understanding negation. For example, when tested with phrases like “a person is running” versus “a person is not running,” these models often fail to recognize the difference.
Lead author Dr. Mert Yuksekgonul explained: “These models treat ‘not’ as unimportant noise, often ignoring it.” This problem affects content regulation. When users ask for images with negative limits — such as “a superhero not wearing a red cape” or “a cartoon mouse not looking like Mickey” — AI often creates exactly what it should avoid. Safety blockers based on negative instructions are thus ineffective.
Midjourney defends itself by comparing AI training to human learning. However, Disney and Universal say this comparison fails: human artists change their influences through creativity, while AI mechanically piece existing elements together.
Legal experts say the case will test “fair use” rules in the AI era. Columbia Law School professor Jane Ginsburg commented: “If the court sees AI training as creative change, it protects the industry. If not allowed use of protected content is seen as breaking the law, many AI models must be completely redesigned.” The trial starts in early 2026 and may take years to conclude. Meanwhile, a class-action lawsuit (集体诉讼) launched by thousands of artists against Midjourney in 2023 continues in California courts.
32.What is the purpose of mentioning the case in Paragraph 1?
A.To support traditional filmmaking.
B.To introduce legal progress in AI copyright.
C.To compare different methods of filmmaking.
D.To criticize the quality of AI-generated films.
33.What does “negation” mean in Paragraph 3?
A.Expressing a negative meaning. B.Creating images with negative content.
C.Rejecting what users ask for. D.Lowering the quality of images.
34.What can we infer from the MIT study?
A.AI can easily recognize Disney characters.
B.AI has a better understanding of negation.
C.AI safety protections may fail to work effectively.
D.AI does not need copyright protection.
35.What’s Ginsburg’s attitude to the lawsuit?
A.Confident Disney will win. B.Cautious about its result.
C.Against AI technology. D.Unconcerned about the case.
The teenage years are marked by intense changes — physical, social, emotional, and developmental — that can be difficult to deal with at times. 36 As you grow older, conflicts with family often increase, mainly due to the desire for more independence. Peer (同龄人) pressure also plays a major role, as teenagers are more likely to be influenced by friends while testing boundaries and seeking autonomy.
Conflicts during this time can also arise from the intensity of your emotions and your evolving ability to think abstractly. As you work on forming your individual identity, you may become more focused on the world around you, trying to make sense of your own feelings and form opinions on various issues. 37 As your outlook changes, these struggles may make it more difficult to navigate relationships with family and cope with peer pressure.
While conflicts are a natural part of this stage of life, there are ways to manage and resolve them productively. 38 By expressing your thoughts and feelings clearly, you can prevent misunderstandings and build mutual respect. Equally important is active listening — understanding others’ outlook can help you find common ground and reach a resolution.
39 Staying calm allows you to think more clearly and avoid worsening emotions. Techniques such as deep breathing or temporarily stepping away from the situation can help manage intense feelings. Additionally, turning to trusted adults or peers who have faced similar challenges can help you gain practical strategies for managing emotions.
While conflicts are a normal part of growing up, they can also be opportunities for personal development and self-discovery. 40
A.Emotional regulation is also essential.
B.The most effective strategy is communication.
C.These conflicts are caused by misunderstandings.
D.With so much going on, it’s no surprise conflicts often arise.
E.This process can lead to internal and external struggles as you grow.
F.Take it positively, and you can resolve conflicts and boost your growth.
G.Recognizing the signs helps you become more aware next time a conflict emerges.

It was a cool autumn morning when the school announced the annual sports day. For most students, it was a day of excitement and joy, but for me, it was just another event I wanted to avoid. I had always been the type to shy away from group activities, preferring the company of my books and thoughts.
Our class monitor, Sarah, noticed my unwillingness. She was the very image of enthusiasm and leadership, always trying to bring the class together. One day, she approached me during lunch. “Why don’t you join us for the relay race? It’ll be fun,” she said with a warm smile. I hesitated, but her persistence was hard to ignore.
The next day, Sarah organized a practice session. I unwillingly joined, feeling out of place among my more athletic classmates. As we ran, I tripped and fell, scraping (擦伤) my knee. Embarrassed, I wanted to quit, but Sarah was there in an instant, offering a hand and words of encouragement. “It’s okay, we’re a team,” she said. At this time, other fellow classmates came to encourage me. Their kindness made me feel less alone.
As the days went by, I found myself looking forward to the practices. The care and support among my classmates was infectious. I began to see the value of teamwork and the joy of shared experiences. My initial unwillingness melted away, replaced by a newfound sense of belonging.
The anticipation for the sports day filled me with excitement. I dream of the cheers, the applauding crowd, and the thrill of competition. Training hard, I longed to showcase my skills, push my limits, share and feel the joy of victory. This event was more than a game; it means a lot for me. I could not wait to be part of it!

At a summer camp in a Southern California suburb, the grandmas were in charge.Every week,
they taught a group of 8-to-14-year-olds life skills like how to cook and sew ()"Loneliness is
something that seniors are challenged with, and they love having younger people around them,"said
Zainab Hussain,a program manager at Olive Community Services,a nonprofit that hosted the camp to
bring teens and elderly adults together.
In the camp,a small room was filled with energy as the kids chatted and chewed on snacks. Some
grandmas were around and watched, content to just be around the youngsters.
Haqigah Abdul Rahim, one of the grandmas serving as the instructor for sewing, said many kids
don't learn these skills at school,so they're filling in a gap.She stood in front of the room at the start of
the activity, holding up various tools and explaining what they were.Rahim also didn't get to spend a lot
of time with her grandchildren because they didn't live close."It is heartwarming to be able to interact
with those who love being around you,"Rahim said.
The summer camp was held in partnership with the Golden Connections Club, started
by14-year-old high school student Leena Albinali. She lived with her grandma but realized other
students didn't have the same opportunity to spend as much time with their grandparents. She also
learned about ageism(年龄歧视)and other challenges faced by senior adults in one of her classes.
"They treat us like we're their grandchildren,"Albinali said."We share what we know about
artificial intelligence and its impact on our lives, and the elders share their life stories and advice. One of
the most important things they've shared with me is to live in the moment, something that's taken on
new meaning for me-The people we have right now are not going to be with us forever."

C.It inspires kids'interest in her profession.
D.It reminds her to contact her grandchildren.
26.What inspired Albinali to set up Golden Connections Club?
A.Her school's support.
B.Her own experience.
C.Seniors'common voice.
D.Ageism her grandma got.
27.What message does Albinali want to convey in the last paragraph?

If you are trying to lose weight, climbing stairs as a regular exercise might be for you.Stairs are
available in many places. And research shows stair-climbing is more effective than walking on level

ground."Overall,it is a fact that stair-climbing gets you fit faster and consumes more calories,"said
Lauri van Houten, vice president of the International Skyrunning Federation. The organization oversees
a number of activities that involve climbing.
"How many calories will I burn is the question everyone wants to know,"van Houten said.
"Here's the good news:The overall energy expenditure of the exercise depends on your weight.
Therefore, the more you weigh, the more you burn,"she said.
Studies indicate that going up stairs consumes approximately 20 times more calories compared to
walking on flat ground.Additionally, descending stairs burns roughly five times as many calories on
account of the work from your muscles to decelerate your body movement. That might be all you need
to know if you are trying to lose weight.Dr.Alberto Minetti of Italy's University of Milan has done a
large amount of research on human movement-including stair-climbing.It is an exercise everyone
can do and does not cost money,he said.
Minetti did the math to explain why going up stairs is so effective for burning calories in a short
amount of time."To move 1 kilogram of body mass over one horizontal meter, you expend 0.5 calories,"
he said.But,he added,"If you move 1 kilogram of body mass vertically on stairs,it's 10 calories.So it's
20 times the calories moving vertically rather than horizontally."Trained as a doctor,Minetti has spent
his career as a researcher. He suggested that older people and beginner stair climbers watch their speed.
Minetti does his own stair-climbing at his home in Milan. He said he often takes a few deep breaths
before going up the many stairs. In a scientific study,Minetti makes the point that using your arms in
stair-climbing adds extra power.Handrails offer safety,too.
The study notes that handrails are available along most stairs in very tall buildings.Using them
increases "the muscle mass involved..."by getting the arms involved, the study shows."They are
relatively small muscles in the arms, but better than nothing,"Minetti said.If stair-climbing were an
Olympic sport,Australian Suzy Walsham would own gold medals.Walsham told the Associated Press
that stair-climbing is a good form of exercise for many kinds of people.
28.What can we learn from the first two paragraphs?
A.Stair-climbing contributes to climbers'health.
B.Stair-climbing is harmful to the climbers'skeleton.
A.Calorie Burning Facts
B.A Sure Way to Burn Calories
C.Suggestions on Climbing Stairs
D.Weight Loss Through Exercise

In June 2025,entertainment giants Disney and Universal Studios took legal action against
Midjourney,an AI image tool, for breaking copyright laws. The legal case claims Midjourney used
thousands of protected characters from Star Wars, superhero films and Pixar films to train its AI without
permission."This is not inspiration;it is mechanical copying,"the complaint states, noting that AI
output directly competes with official products.
This case marks a significant increase in AI copyright conflicts. Before, most court cases involved
individual artists, but now large companies with large creative works have joined the battle.Disney and
Universal seek payment and a court order to remove their protected works from Midjourney's training
data.Experts say the claim could reach hundreds of millions of dollars.
Notably, this controversy also highlights a key technical challenge:current AI systems struggle to
tell the difference between legitimate reference and unauthorized copying.A 2025 study by MIT
researchers shows that vision-language models-systems that process both images and text-have
serious difficulties understanding negation. For example, when tested with phrases like "a person is
running"versus"a person is not running,"these models often fail to recognize the difference.
Lead author Dr.Mert Yuksekgonul explained:"These models treat not'as unimportant noise,
often ignoring it."This problem affects content regulation. When users ask for images with negative
limits一such as“a superhero not wearing a red cape'”or“a cartoon mouse not looking like Mickey'”
AI often creates exactly what it should avoid.Safety blockers based on negative instructions are thus
ineffective.
Midjourney defends itself by comparing AI training to human learning. However,Disney and
Universal say this comparison fails:human artists change their influences through creativity, while AI
mechanically piece existing elements together.
Legal experts say the case will test"fair use"rules in the AI era.Columbia Law School professor
Jane Ginsburg commented:"If the court sees AI training as creative change,it protects the industry. If
not allowed use of protected content is seen as breaking the law, many AI models must be completely
redesigned."The trial starts in early 2026 and may take years to conclude.Meanwhile,a class-action
lawsuit (launched by thousands of artists against Midjourney in 2023 continues in California
courts
32.What is the purpose of mentioning the case in Paragraph 1?
A.To support traditional filmmaking.
B.To introduce legal progress in AI copyright.
C.To compare different methods of filmmaking.
D.To criticize the quality of AI-generated films.
33.What does "negation"mean in Paragraph 3?
A.Expressing a negative meaning
B.Creating images with negative content.
C.Rejecting what users ask for.
D.Lowering the quality ofimages.
34.What can we infer from the MIT study?
A.AI can easily recognize Disney characters.
B.AI has a better understanding of negation.
C.AI safety protections may fail to work effectively
D.AI does not need copyright protection.
35.What's Ginsburg's attitude to the lawsuit?
A.Confident Disney will win.
B.Cautious about its result.
C.Against AI technology.
D.Unconcemned about the case.

plays a major role,as teenagers are more likely to be influenced by friends while testing boundaries and
seeking autonomy.
Conflicts during this time can also arise from the intensity of your emotions and your evolving
ability to think abstractly. As you work on forming your individual identity, you may become more
focused on the world around you, trying to make sense of your own feelings and form opinions on
various issues.
37
As your outlook changes, these struggles may make it more difficult to
navigate relationships with family and cope with peer pressure.
While conflicts are a natural part of this stage of life, there are ways to manage and resolve them
productively.
38
By expressing your thoughts and feelings clearly, you can prevent
misunderstandings and build mutual respect.Equally important is active listening -understanding
others'outlook can help you find common ground and reach a resolution.
39
Staying calm allows you to think more clearly and avoid worsening emotions.
Techniques such as deep breathing or temporarily stepping away from the situation can help manage
intense feelings.Additionally, turning to trusted adults or peers who have faced similar challenges can
help you gain practical strategies for managing emotions.
While conflicts are a normal part of growing up,they can also be opportunities for personal
development and self-discovery.40
A.Emotional regulation is also essential
B.The most effective strategy is communication
C.These conflicts are caused by misunderstandings.
D.With so much going on,it's no surprise conflicts often arise.
E.This process can lead to intemal and external struggles as you grow.
F.Take it positively, and you can resolve conflicts and boost your growth.
G.Recognizing the signs helps you become more aware next time a conflict emerges.

been the type to shy away from group activities, preferring the company ofmy books and thoughts
Our class monitor,Sarah, noticed my unwillingness. She was the very image of enthusiasm and
leadership, always trying to bring the class together. One day,she approached me during lunch."Why
don't you join us for the relay race? It'll be fun,"she said with a warm smile.I hesitated, but her
persistence was hard to ignore.
The next day,Sarah organized a practice session.I unwillingly joined, feeling out of place among
my more athletic classmates. As we ran,I tripped and fell, scraping (my knee.Embarrassed,I
wanted to quit, but Sarah was there in an instant, offering a hand and words of encouragement."It's
okay,we're a team,"she said.At this time,other fellow classmates came to encourage me.Their

As the days went by,I found myself looking forward to the practices. The care and support among
my classmates was infectious.I began to see the value of teamwork and the joy of shared experiences.
My initial unwillingness melted away, replaced by a newfound sense of belonging.
The anticipation for the sports day filled me with excitement.I dream of the cheers, the

M: In southeastern Massachusetts, there aren’t many institutions like an art museum.
W: Yes, so different high-tech devices are employed to both show and introduce exhibits from other countries. As an art museum in the city center, it’s important for us to be a platform for cultural conversations.

W: No. Some museums also do that. So we have been working hard to make our museum stand out with its distinctive character. 25. 根据第三段“Haqiqah Abdul Rahim, one of the grandmas serving as the instructor for sewing, said many kids don’t learn these skills at school, so they’re filling in a gap.(哈基卡・阿卜杜勒・拉希姆是担任缝纫指导老师的奶奶之一,她说很多孩子在学校里学不到这些技能,因此她们正在填补这一空白。)” 故选A项。
根据第四段“She lived with her grandma but realized other students didn’t have the same opportunity to spend as much time with their grandparents. She also learned about ageism (年龄歧视) and other challenges faced by senior adults in one of her classes.(她和奶奶住在一起,但意识到其他学生没有同样多的机会陪伴祖父母。她还在一门课上了解到年龄歧视和老年人面临的其他挑战。)”可知,阿尔比纳利的个人经历(与奶奶同住、了解到其他学生和老年人的困境)促使她成立俱乐部。故选B项。

【详解】28.推理判断题。 由文章第一段中““Overall, it is a fact that stair-climbing gets you fit faster and consumes more calories,” said Lauri van Houten, vice president of the International Skyrunning Federation. (“总的来说,楼梯攀爬让你更快变健康并消耗更多卡路里,这是一个事实,”国际天空跑步联合会的副主席劳里·范·豪滕说。该组织监督许多涉及攀爬的活动。)”可知,楼梯攀爬有助于更快地提高体能并消耗更多卡路里,爬楼梯有助于攀爬者的健康。故选A。
根据第三段中的“Studies indicate that going up stairs consumes approximately 20 times more calories compared to walking on flat ground. Additionally, descending stairs burns roughly five times as many calories on account of the work from your muscles to decelerate your body movement. (研究表明,与在平地上行走相比,爬楼梯消耗的卡路里大约多20倍。此外,下楼梯燃烧的卡路里大约是原来的五倍,因为你的肌肉减慢了你的身体运动。)”可知,下楼梯时,因为肌肉需要工作以减缓身体的运动,因此消耗更多的卡路里。故选C。
30.推理判断题。由文章第四段中“He suggested that older people and beginner stair climbers watch their speed. Minetti does his own stair-climbing at his home in Milan. He said he often takes a few deep breaths before going up the many stairs. In a scientific study, Minetti makes the point that using your arms in stair-climbing adds extra power. Handrails offer safety, too. (他建议老年人和刚开始爬楼梯的人注意速度。米内蒂在米兰的家中自己爬楼梯。他说他经常在上很多楼梯之前深呼吸几下。在一项科学研究中,米内蒂指出,在爬楼梯时使用手臂可以增加额外的力量。扶手也提供了安全保障。)”可知,米内蒂认为老年人和初学者开始爬楼梯时要注意速度,并且使用扶手可以增加安全性。故选B。
31.主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是由文章第一段中“If you are trying to lose weight, climbing stairs as a regular exercise might be for you. Stairs are available in many places. And research shows stair-climbing is more effective than walking on level ground. “Overall, it is a fact that stair-climbing gets you fit faster and consumes more calories,” said Lauri van Houten, vice president of the International Skyrunning Federation.

根据第四段“When users ask for images with negative limits — such as “a superhero not wearing a red cape” or “a cartoon mouse not looking like Mickey” — AI often creates exactly what it should avoid. Safety blockers based on negative instructions are thus ineffective.Safety blockers based on negative instructions are thus ineffective.(当用户提出带有否定限制的绘图要求时 —— 如“不穿红色披风的超级英雄”“外形不像米老鼠的卡通老鼠”,人工智能往往会生成明令禁止的内容。因此,依托否定指令设置的安全防护机制形同虚设。因此,基于负面指令设置的安全防护屏障是无效的。)”可推断出,人工智能安全保护可能无法有效发挥作用。
35.推理判断题。根据最后一段“Columbia Law School professor Jane Ginsburg commented: “If the court sees AI training as creative change, it protects the industry. If not allowed use of protected content is seen as breaking the law, many AI models must be completely redesigned.”(哥伦比亚法学院教授简・金斯伯格评价:“如果法院认定AI训练属于创造性改编,整个AI行业将受到保护;若判定擅自使用版权内容属于违法行为,大量AI模型将不得不彻底重新研发。”)”

Dear Ben,
I’m sorry to learn about your current trouble regarding the use of AI tools for your assignment. I can fully relate to your situation as I once faced similar temptations to manage heavy academic workloads. However, AI should never replace our own intellectual efforts.
As a scientist once said, “Our intelligence is what makes us human, and AI is an extension of that quality.” While AI can assist in certain areas, over reliance on it undermines the essence of learning and compromise academic integrity. Therefore, I suggest you improve your work without solely depending on AI tools and have an open conversation with your teacher, clarifying your intentions and demonstrating your commitment to genuine learning.
Learning is not just about completing tasks but also about the process of acquiring knowledge. Wish you all the best.
Yours,
Li Hua

The day I looked forward to came eventually. The air buzzed with cheers as our relay team stepped onto the track. I was seized by tension and unease, my palms sweating constantly. Sarah patted me on my shoulders, giving me encouragement with an inspiring look. A sense of determination crowding in, I raised my head confidently. When the whistle blew, I dashed like an arrow. But my competitors ran rather fast. My teammates’ shouts urged me forward. What made me frustrated was that I didn’t catch up with them. I was the last one to hand over the baton.
Our opponent winning narrowly, I blamed our failure on myself. “If I’d run faster, we could have won.” I murmured, burying my head, with tears of guilt rolling down my checks. Approaching me. Sara said firmly, “We all gave our best!” The team gathered around, echoing her words. So warm was I that I felt incredibly comforted. Later, we shared snacks under a tree, encouraging each other to do it better next year. We were overwhelmed with joy, broad smiles lighting up our faces. It was then that I realized victory wasn’t just about medals; it was the courage to try and the bonds we’d built. Sports Day had taught me to cherish both.
