第一节 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中,选出最佳选项。(共10小题;每小题2分,满分20分)

A

A few years ago a group of young people from abroad studying in China were asked: "Which new inventions in China do you like most?" Their answer became famous on the internet: high-speed trains, mobile payment, shared bikes and online shopping.

High-speed trains carry millions of people every day and are now running in more and more countries. Mobile payment has made cash almost unnecessary — even a street seller has a QR code. Shared bikes are parked at every corner and can be unlocked with a phone in a second. Online shopping brings almost anything to your door in a day or two.

What is interesting is that none of these four was invented in China. They were all invented somewhere else, but they were developed, made cheaper and used best here. As one student said, "China did not invent them, but China made them work for everyone."

That is also part of the power of ideas: an idea becomes truly powerful when ordinary people can use it every day.

( )26. Who gave the answer about the "new four inventions"?

A. Chinese scientists. B. Young people from abroad studying in China. C. Street sellers. D. Train drivers.

( )27. Which of the following is NOT among the four?

A. High-speed trains. B. Mobile payment. C. Shared bikes. D. Paper-making.

( )28. How can a shared bike be unlocked?

A. With a key. B. With a card. C. With a phone. D. With a ticket.

( )29. What is interesting about the four inventions?

( )30. What does the writer want to tell us?

A. China has invented everything. B. Young people should study abroad. C. An idea becomes powerful when ordinary people can use it every day. D. Cash is better than mobile payment.

Louis Braille was born in France in 1809. When he was three, he hurt his eye with a tool in his father's workshop, and by the age of five he could see nothing. Books for blind people at that time were made of raised letters that were very slow to read.

At school Louis was quick and eager to learn. In 1821 a soldier visited the school and showed the children a "night writing" code: raised dots (凸起的点) that soldiers could read with their fingers in the dark. Louis thought the idea was wonderful but too complex.

For three years, while he was still a student, Louis worked on his own code. He made each letter out of six dots, and in 1829, at the age of twenty, he published his system. With it a blind person could read as fast as a sighted person, and could even write music and maths.

Sadly, the system was not used in French schools until many years after his death in 1852. Today, however, Braille is used by blind readers in almost every country and language. A boy who could not see gave the world a new way to read.

( )31. When did Louis Braille become blind?

A. At birth. B. By the age of five. C. At the age of twenty. D. In 1829.

( )32. What was wrong with books for blind people at that time?

A. They were made of raised letters that were slow to read. B. They were too cheap. C. They had no pictures. D. They were in English.

( )33. What did Louis learn from the soldier?

A. How to ride a horse. B. A "night writing" code of raised dots. C. How to print books. D. A new language.

( )34. What does the underlined word "complex" mean in Paragraph 2?page number 1
