Curiosity (好奇心) is very useful in our everyday life. Many great inventions may never come true if people don’t have this wonderful ability. Albert Einstein once said, “I have no special talents (天赋). I am just very curious.”
Curiosity can bring new discoveries. It encourages people to explore and discover new things. Benjamin Franklin is a great example. He showed great interest in electricity (电力) and had a deep curiosity about its nature. He did a lot to understand it. For example, he flew a kite in a heavy storm. His curiosity finally helped him to invent the lightning rod, which can protect buildings from lightning.
Curiosity can also make people brave enough to try new things. Just look at Wan Hu, a man in the Ming Dynasty, who was quite curious about the unknown space. He wanted to fly into the sky so much that he invented a “flying chair”. He made forty-seven rockets () himself and put them on his flying chair. Unluckily, he lost his life while testing his invention. Although his try didn’t succeed, his curiosity gave future explorers ideas. People learned from his example, and created safer ways to explore space. A mountain on the moon was named Wan Hu so that people won’t forget the great pioneer in space travel.
Curiosity also drives people to their goals. Zhang Heng, a famous Chinese scientist and inventor, was curious about the world: How did everything in the world move? He spent years studying the sky and the earth. Finally, he drew China’s first star map, and invented the world’s first earthquake detector. His curiosity still affects (影响) modern scientists today.
Just as Jacques Cousteau said, “What is a scientist after all? It’s a curious man looking through a keyhole, the keyhole of nature, trying to know what’s going on.” Curiosity is the key. It opens one door after another for us to discover a new world.
21.What can we learn about Benjamin Franklin from the article?
A.He flew kites just for fun on rainy days.
B.He studied the sky and the earth all his life.
C.He invented the first star map in the world.

A.He flew into space with his flying chair.
B.He found many new things on the moon.
C.He created the safest way to travel to space.
D.People hoped to remember him as a space travel pioneer.
23.Which of the following is TRUE according to the article?
A.Scientists are the keyhole of nature.
B.Zhang Heng invented the first earthquake detector.
C.All great inventions come from dangerous adventures.
D.Einstein was curious and also had many special talents.
24.Whose invention process (过程) is dangerous?
A.Albert Einstein’s. B.Benjamin Franklin’s. C.Wan Hu’s. D.Zhang Heng’s.
25.What does the article mainly talk about?

China sent off its youngest-ever team for its space station on October 26, 2023. It is part of the country’s plan to put astronauts on the moon before 2030.
The China Manned Space Agency said the average age of the three-member team is the youngest since the launch of the space station construction mission. Their average age is 38. The three astronauts are Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie and Jiang Xinlin. They replaced the team that had been on the station for five months. The new team performed experiments in space medicine, space technology and other areas during their stay. And they helped to place and do possible repairs to equipment (设备) inside and outside the station.
In 2022, the Chinese government built its own space station after it was not permitted to join the International Space Station. The Americans worried that the Chinese space programme was under the control of the People’s Liberation Army.
China’s first manned space mission in 2003 made it the third country after the former Soviet Union and the USA to put a person into space using its own resources.
Although the American space programme is believed to be ahead of China at this time, China made some important steps. They include bringing back samples (样本) from the moon’s surface for the first time and landing a vehicle on the less explored far side of the moon. We all enjoy music, but have you ever wondered what happens inside your brain and body when you listen to your favourite song? Science can help us understand the powerful effects of music.
Music influences your brain. Scientists have found that listening to music releases (释放) a chemical called dopamine in the brain. Dopamine is often called the “feel-good” chemical because it makes you feel happy and rewarded. This is the same chemical that is released when you eat your favourite food or win a game.
Music can change your physical state. Have you noticed your foot tapping to a beat? This is because music can influence your heart and breath. Fast music with a strong beat can make your heart beat faster and increase your energy levels, which is why it’s perfect for exercise. On the other hand, slow and quiet music with a simple melody (旋律) can help slow down your heart rate and relax your muscles, reducing feelings of stress.
A French researcher, Dr Alfred A.Tomatis, proposed (提出) the “Mozart Effect”, which suggests that listening to classical music might temporarily (暂时地) improve your ability to focus and solve difficult problems. While it won’t make you smarter, many students find that listening to some music while studying helps them focus better and block out noises that distract them.
In conclusion, music is not just an art; it’s also a science. It can chemically improve your happiness, physically change your body’s rhythms, and sharpen your mental focus. The next time you press play, remember that there’s a lot of interesting science working to create those wonderful feelings.
31.What is dopamine?
A.It’s the name of a kind of good feeling.

32.What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
A.Fast music with a strong beat is suitable for sports.
B.Listening to some music is good for people’s hearts.
C.Whether the music is fast or slow depends on the beats.
D.Music that is soft and quiet is more welcomed by people.
33.According to the “Mozart Effect”, in which situation can classical music help you?
A.You need to focus on your homework. B.You feel sad and need to be cheered up.
C.You are doing exercise and need energy. D.You want to relax and fall asleep quickly.
34.What does the underlined word “distract” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A.Develop one’s interest. B.Change one’s mind.
C.Draw one’s attention away. D.Influence one’s health condition.
35.Which is the structure of the passage?

①Have you read Harry Potter? Fans of the Harry Potter books will know Quidditch (魁地奇), the magical sport where players fly around on broomsticks (扫帚柄). But do you know that the game is in the real world, too?
②It’s called quadball (魁地球/四球), and it first began back in 2005, when American college students decided to create their own, real-life version of Quidditch. More and more people started playing the game, with countries all over the world making their own teams.
③The rules of quadball are very similar to those of Quidditch. Although players don’t fly in the sky on broomsticks like in the books, they must play with a “broomstick”—usually a wooden stick—between their legs at all times.
④And like Quidditch, there are four forms of players on a quadball team. The Chasers (追球手) try to score goals by throwing volleyballs through the opposite team’s hoops (球门环), and the Keepers try to stop goals from being scored. The Beaters throw balls at other players. If a player is hit, he has to drop any ball he is carrying and run back to his own hoop. And the Seeker (找球手), which was the position that Harry Potter played in the books, has to find the Golden Snitch (金色飞贼). In the books, the Snitch was a small, gold ball that flew around the field. But in quadball, the Snitch is a person—the Flag Runner, a fair player who runs around the field with a flag tied to his back. If a Seeker catches the Flag Runner’s flag, his team gets 30 points and the game ends.
⑤Quadball is an exciting sport to watch and even more exciting to play. In 2012, the world’s first Quadball World Cup was held. However, after its name change, quadball seemed to lose its magic and fall into trouble. Because of various reasons, it failed to successfully enter the Quadball World Cup to be held in 2024. People have a great love for the world full of magic, so there are still countless people who hope this sport can develop better.

第三节 阅读填空(共10小题;每小题1.5分,满分15分)
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
When I was a little boy, I often looked up at the bright starry sky and dreamed of travelling beyond Earth. I was 66 (deep) attracted by the secret universe.
My first dream was to be 67 astronaut. Few people knew how hard the journey would be. My parents worried that the training for space‑travellers was really difficult.
Still, I never gave up my dream. I kept reading books about planets and the space station in my free time. At 16, I took part in a city‑level space camp. There I experienced real astronauts’ daily training. I learnt that taikonauts must stay calm both in strong shaking and a 68 (weight) environment. Once I nearly gave up after a long‑time anti‑gravity practice. 69 the words from a space hero encouraged me 70 (move) on. Years passed. I kept making my body strong and studied space‑science knowledge every day. I knew every small step would bring me closer 71 space.
Last summer, I got the chance to visit the national space centre. When I saw the real spaceship, my eyes 72 (fill) with tears. The guide told us human beings 73 (send) many machines to explore Mars so far. More young people are drawn into space research.
Now I understand exploring the universe is never a lonely journey. We young dreamers are carrying the future of space 74 (explore). I will not waste any chance to improve 75 (I). Even if I cannot fly into space one day, my love for the outer world will never fade away.
【答案】66.deeply 67.an 68.weightless 69.But 70.to move 71.to 72.were filled 73.have sent 74.exploration 75.myself
encourage sb to do sth意为“鼓励某人做某事”,所以此处用动词不定式to move。
71.句意:我知道每一小步都将让我离太空更近。bring sb close to...
句中时间状语“so far”(到目前为止)是现在完成时的标志,结构为“have/has + 过去分词”,主语“human beings”是复数,所以用have sent。

The USA,meanwhile, aims to put astronauts back on the moon’s surface.
In addition to their moon programmes, the two countries have also independently (独立地) sent vehicles on Mars. And China plans to land a spacecraft on an asteroid (小行星).

B.It’s a chemical that makes people feel happy.
C.It’s the rhythm of a piece of beautiful music.
D.It’s a kind of machine used by the scientists.
A. B. C. D.
D
36.Why did the writer mention Quidditch in Harry Potter in the first paragraph?
A.To give an example. B.To make a comparison.
C.To tell people the truth. D.To catch people’s attention.
37.Which paragraph shows the development of quadball?
A.Paragraph 2. B.Paragraph 3.

A.There aren’t many fans in quadball. B.There isn’t a Snitch in quadball.
C.People don’t fly in the sky in quadball. D.People don’t use a broomstick in quadball.
39.What can we learn about quadball from Paragraph 4?
A.The Beaters can only throw balls at the Keepers.
B.The Seeker must fly around in the sky on broomsticks.
C.The Flag Runner should run around the field with a flag.
D.The Chasers need to throw basketballs through the hoops.
40.Who will most probably be interested in this passage?

Researchers have uncovered the oldest known hand-held wooden tools, giving scientists a new way to understand early humans nearly half a million years ago. An international team found the artifacts at Marathousa 1 in Greece, where wet conditions helped wood 51 . The two objects, dated to about 430,000 years ago, were not random sticks. Microscopic study showed marks from chopping and carving, which 52 that people had deliberately shaped them.
The discovery matters because wood usually 53 long before archaeologists can study it. Stone tools survive more easily, so they often give an incomplete 54 of ancient technology. One object, made from alder, may have been used for digging near the lakeshore or stripping bark. Another smaller piece of willow or poplar also showed signs of human 55 .
The site tells a wider story. Stone tools and animal remains suggest early humans used the area for butchering prey near an ancient lake. A larger wood fragment had grooves, but researchers concluded they were made by a large carnivore, possibly a bear, rather than by people. That detail 56 a dangerous environment in which humans and predators may have competed for 57 .
For scientists, the find pushes back evidence of hand-held wooden tool use by at least 40,000 years. It also shows that early humans were not limited to stone. They selected plants, shaped materials and solved practical problems with 58 . Because such evidence is rare, researchers had to 59 each mark carefully.

第一节 阅读理解(共20小题;每小题2分,满分40分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

24.Whose invention process (过程) is dangerous?
A.Albert Einstein’s. B.Benjamin Franklin’s. C.Wan Hu’s. D.Zhang Heng’s.
25.What does the article mainly talk about?
A.The unknown space. B.The importance of hard working.

The USA,meanwhile, aims to put astronauts back on the moon’s surface.
In addition to their moon programmes, the two countries have also independently (独立地) sent vehicles on Mars. And China plans to land a spacecraft on an asteroid (小行星).

B.It’s a chemical that makes people feel happy.
C.It’s the rhythm of a piece of beautiful music.
D.It’s a kind of machine used by the scientists.
A. B. C. D.
D
C.Paragraph 4. D.Paragraph 5.
38.What is the difference between quadball and Quidditch?
A.There aren’t many fans in quadball. B.There isn’t a Snitch in quadball.
C.People don’t fly in the sky in quadball. D.People don’t use a broomstick in quadball.
39.What can we learn about quadball from Paragraph 4?
A.The Beaters can only throw balls at the Keepers.
B.The Seeker must fly around in the sky on broomsticks.
C.The Flag Runner should run around the field with a flag.
D.The Chasers need to throw basketballs through the hoops.
40.Who will most probably be interested in this passage?
A.Technology fans. B.Sports lovers.
C.History researchers. D.Book sellers.
