When Clara took her five-year-old daughter Lila to a school interview this September, she hoped to see her laugh and play with other kids. Instead, Lila just sat alone in a corner, picking at her clothes and never looking up when a teacher talked to her. The teacher suggested that Lila might struggle with socializing. Clara felt worried — she’d never noticed this before — and left the school with a heavy heart.
As a nurse, Clara made a hard decision: she quit her job to fully focus on her daughter. She read many books and watched online videos to learn about kids who have trouble fitting in. “People like my daughter love repeating their behavior to calm themselves. Lila likes arranging her toys in a straight line over and over again. If she’s not troubling anyone, I let her be,” Clara says.
Despite her efforts, some neighbors often judged her parenting (育儿). Clara faced unkind words, but she stayed patient. She kept a small notebook to record what upset or pleased Lila — loud noises scared her, but soft music made her smile. She also encouraged Lila to join activities like painting and planting flowers.
Clara gave up the idea of “fixing” Lila. “I didn’t push her to talk more or play with others. I just wanted her to feel comfortable and grow in her own way,” she says. Today, Lila is more confident — she can say simple greetings, help water the flowers at home, and even share her paintings with the teacher.
Clara and her friend started a small group called “Little Stars Shine Too”. They shared Lila’s stories online to help other parents. Clara also wrote a guidebook to support parents of children with special needs. For her, the key is acceptance. “When you stop trying to fit your child into a box, you open the door to a new world,” she says.
24.What caused Clara to leave the school with a heavy heart?
A.Her regret at Lila’s performance. B.Her knowing about Lila’s condition.
C.Her poor preparations for the interview. D.Her failure to meet Lila’s headteacher.
25.What’s a feature of people like Lila according to Clara?
A.They are skilled at playing with toys. B.They are interested in specific activities.
C.They keep calm by repeating the same action. D.They need special attention from their families.
26.How does Clara help her daughter Lila?
A.By taking part in different activities. B.By creating a supportive environment.
C.By working together with her neighbors. D.By reflecting on daily mistakes regularly.
27.Who is the text probably written for?
A.Parents. B.Teachers. C.Nurses. D.Students.
【答案】24.B 25.C 26.B 27.A
根据第一段“The teacher suggested that Lila might struggle with socializing. Clara felt worried — she’d never noticed this before — and left the school with a heavy heart.(老师认为Lila可能在社交方面存在困难。Clara感到担忧——她以前从未注意到这一点——于是带着沉重的心情离开了学校)”可知,Clara的沉重心情源于首次意识到女儿的情况。
25.细节理解题。根据第二段“People like my daughter love repeating their behavior to calm themselves.(像我女儿这样的人喜欢重复自己的行为来让自己平静下来)”可知,根据Clara的说法,像Lila这样的人会通过重复行为来保持平静。
根据第三段“Clara faced unkind words, but she stayed patient. She kept a small notebook to record what upset or pleased Lila — loud noises scared her, but soft music made her smile. She also encouraged Lila to join activities like painting and planting flowers.(Clara面对不友善的言论依然保持耐心。她备有一个小笔记本,记录让Lila不安或开心的事情——响亮的声音让她害怕,而轻柔的音乐却让她微笑。她还鼓励Lila参加绘画和种花等活动)”和第四段“I didn’t push her to talk more or play with others. I just wanted her to feel comfortable and grow in her own way(我没有强迫她多说话或和别人玩。我只是想让她感觉舒服,以她自己的方式成长)”可知,Clara通过观察需求、提供包容性活动和不强求改变,让Lila按自己的方式成长,这些表明Clara的核心方法是创造支持性的环境。
27.推理判断题。通读全文,尤其是最后一段“They shared Lila’s stories online to help other parents. Clara also wrote a guidebook to support parents of children with special needs. For her, the key is acceptance.(他们在线分享了Lila的故事,以帮助其他家长。Clara还编写了一本指南,为有特殊需求孩子的父母提供支持。对她而言,关键在于接纳)”可知,文章讲述母亲Clara发现女儿Lila存在社交困难后,通过观察、接纳和创造包容环境帮助她成长,并呼吁其他家长理解特殊需求儿童。由此可知,文章的目标读者可能是父母。
C
When we come to the important “protectors” of nature, we often think of big animals like tigers or elephants, because they are strong and powerful. As we learn more about animals, however, we’re surprised to find that sometimes a much smaller animal can also play a far bigger role in nature and our lives: bees.
Bees are not just for making sweet honey. They have a job vital to almost all plant life: helping plants reproduce. When bees land on a flower to drink nectar — a sweet liquid produced by flowers, pollen (花粉) sticks to their legs. As they fly to the next flower, this pollen falls off, letting plants make seeds and fruits. This process, called pollination, is essential. It helps grow over 70% of the fruits and vegetables we eat, like apples, tomatoes and carrots. Without bees, many favorite foods would disappear from stores, and some crops for farm animals would be hard to grow.
However, bees are now in great danger, with their numbers falling fast. Climate changes make temperatures shift unexpectedly, causing flowers to bloom (绽放) too early or too late. Bees wake up from winter sleep but can’t find enough nectar, going hungry and dying. Also, farmers use chemicals that will stick to flowers to kill harmful insects. When bees collect nectar, the chemicals poison them, killing entire hives (蜂巢). Every year, bee numbers drop sharply, worrying scientists around the world as it threatens our food supply.
To save bees, people take small community actions. Many farmers grow extra flower beds around fields for bees. Some families keep small beehives in gardens to give bees safe homes. Schools teach students to protect these insects, letting kids plant flower pots in classrooms to attract bees.
Bees may be small — no bigger than your finger nails — but they’re crucial to our food supply and the environment. They keep plants growing, which clean the air and shelter other animals. With more people caring and helping, we can keep these little helpers supporting our planet.
28.Why are tigers and elephants mentioned in paragraph 1?
A.To compare different animals.
B.To lead into the topic about bees.
C.To show the importance of tigers and elephants.
D.To present people’s understanding of the nature.
29.What role do bees play in helping flowers reproduce?
A.They produce sweet liquid to feed flowers.
B.They help flowers spread seeds and fruits.
C.They protect flowers from harmful insects.
D.They transport pollen among flowers for pollination.
30.What’s paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.The reasons why bees are in danger.
B.How climate change affects flowers.
C.The ways that farmers protect crops.
D.What scientists worldwide worry about.
31.What does the author intend to express through the text?
A.Many hands make light work.
B.Actions speak louder than words.
C.A friend in need is a friend indeed.
D.Little things can make a big difference.

根据第一段中的“When we come to the important “protectors” of nature, we often think of big animals like tigers or elephants, because they are strong and powerful. As we learn more about animals, however, we’re surprised to find that sometimes a much smaller animal can also play a far bigger role in nature and our lives: bees.(当谈到自然界重要的“守护者”时,我们常常会想到老虎、大象等大型动物,因为它们强壮有力。然而,随着我们对动物了解的加深,我们惊讶地发现,有时一种体型小得多的动物也能在自然界和我们的生活中发挥大得多的作用:蜜蜂。)”可知,作者先以老虎、大象这些人们熟知的大型“自然守护者”为切入点,再通过转折引出本文核心说明对象——蜜蜂,其目的是自然过渡并引出主题。
29.细节理解题。根据第二段中的“When bees land on a flower to drink nectar — a sweet liquid produced by flowers, pollen (花粉) sticks to their legs. As they fly to the next flower, this pollen falls off, letting plants make seeds and fruits. This process, called pollination, is essential.(当蜜蜂落在花朵上吸食花蜜——花朵产生的一种甜味液体时,花粉会粘在它们的腿上。当它们飞到另一朵花上时,花粉会脱落,让植物结出种子和果实。这个过程被称为授粉,至关重要。)”可知,蜜蜂通过在不同花朵间飞行,将粘在腿上的花粉带到其他花朵上,完成授粉过程,从而帮助植物繁殖。
30.主旨大意题。根据第三段中的“However, bees are now in great danger, with their numbers falling fast. Every year, bee numbers drop sharply, worrying scientists around the world as it threatens our food supply.(然而,蜜蜂现在正处于极大的危险之中,它们的数量正在迅速减少。
根据第一段中的“When we come to the important “protectors” of nature, we often think of big animals like tigers or elephants, because they are strong and powerful. As we learn more about animals, however, we’re surprised to find that sometimes a much smaller animal can also play a far bigger role in nature and our lives: bees.(当谈到自然界重要的“守护者”时,我们常常会想到老虎、大象等大型动物,因为它们强壮有力。然而,随着我们对动物了解的加深,我们惊讶地发现,有时一种体型小得多的动物也能在自然界和我们的生活中发挥大得多的作用:蜜蜂。)”和最后一段中的“Bees may be small — no bigger than your finger nails — but they’re crucial to our food supply and the environment. They keep plants growing, which clean the air and shelter other animals.(蜜蜂可能很小——不比你的指甲大——但它们对我们的食物供应和环境至关重要。它们让植物持续生长,而植物能净化空气、为其他动物提供栖息之所。)”可知,作者全程围绕“蜜蜂体型微小但作用关键”这一核心展开,通过具体事例传递出“微小事物也能产生重大影响”的核心观点。

Read Across America (RAA) is a day held annually on March 2nd that encourages children in every community to read and also encourages parents and teachers to celebrate the joy of reading. It’s a holiday that has been celebrated since 1998 and falls on the same day as children’s book author Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
This holiday dates back to May of 1997. This is when a small group of people at the National Education Association (NEA) came up with the idea to create a day of the year that celebrates reading among children. They reasoned that since many school football programs could get children engaged in the sport through pep rallies (鼓舞士气的集会), then why couldn’t the same thing be done for reading? So they decided to turn to a Read Across America program that was officially launched on March 2, 1998, and ever since it has continued to grow in size. Today, more than 50 national nonprofit and association sponsors and more than 3.3 million NEA members support the effort every year.
This holiday is celebrated in many ways. All over the country, libraries, schools and community centers hold special Read Across America events that promote reading in their communities. Teachers also develop special events on this day to encourage their students to read. The NEA also sponsors reading round tables and has an online store that allows people to buy everything they need for their RAA celebrations. This includes Dr. Seuss hats, RAA bookmarks, special RAA flash drives and even RAA mugs.
While recommended student reading lists vary from community to community, there are some books that always seem to pop up. Below is a partial list of some of the books read by elementary, middle school and high school students.
32.What inspired NEA to come up with RAA?
A.Millions of NEA members’ support. B.School football programs’ practice.
C.The NEA members’ love for reading. D.American local official’s encouragement.
33.The underlined word “sponsors” in Paragraph 2 most probably means ______.
A.supporters. B.participants. C.volunteers. D.visitors.
34.How do people celebrate Read Across America according to the text?
A.The NEA only holds reading round tables for local community members.
B.Schools organize football matches to get students interested in reading.
C.Teachers mainly sell various RAA products to their students at school.
D.Different public places hold activities and people can buy themed goods online.
35.What may be talked about following the last paragraph?
A.The promising future of RAA. B.The awards given to the children.
C.Student reading list recommended. D.Parents and teachers’ praise for the program.
【答案】32.B 33.A 34.D 35.C
根据第二段“They reasoned that since many school football programs could get children engaged in the sport through pep rallies (鼓舞士气的集会), then why couldn’t the same thing be done for reading? (他们的理由是,既然许多学校的足球项目可以通过动员集会让孩子们参与到这项运动中来,那么为什么不能对阅读做同样的事情呢?)”可知,NEA是受到学校足球项目活动形式的启发,想出创办RAA这个活动。
33.词句猜测题。根据第二段“Today, more than 50 national nonprofit and association sponsors and more than 3.3 million NEA members support the effort every year. (如今,每年有50多个全国性非营利组织及协会sponsors ,还有330多万NEA成员为此项活动提供支持。)”可知,and连接并列对象,“support (支持)”提示sponsors是提供支持的组织,与A选项supporters (支持者)意义相近。
34.细节理解题。根据第三段“All over the country, libraries, schools and community centers hold special Read Across America events (全国各地的图书馆、学校以及社区中心都会举办特别的全美阅读日活动)”及“The NEA also sponsors reading round tables and has an online store that allows people to buy everything they need for their RAA celebrations. (NEA还主办阅读圆桌会,并且设有网上商店,人们可以在上面购买举办RAA庆祝活动所需的全部物品。)”可知,各地不同公共场所举办活动,人们还可以在线购买主题商品。
35.推理判断题。根据最后一段“Below is a partial list of some of the books read by elementary, middle school and high school students. (以下是小学、初中和高中学生阅读的部分书籍清单。)”可知,本段引出学生推荐阅读书单,下文很可能介绍推荐给学生的阅读书目。

The Power of a Personal Journal
Keeping a daily journal is one of the most powerful and beneficial habits you can develop. It is more than just a record of your life; it is a tool for self-expression, reflection, and personal growth. 36 For many successful writers and thinkers, it’s their first step into daily writing discipline.
A key benefit of keeping a journal is better self-understanding. Writing down your thoughts and feelings forces you to clarify them. 37 This process gives you new insights into your values and life goals, creating a space for honest self-conversation.
38 The more you write, the better you express ideas clearly. You can experiment with new vocabulary, different sentence structures, and various writing styles without the pressure of being graded. It’s a private playground for your words.
To get started, you don’t need a fancy notebook or special pens. 39 Consistency matters most — spend 10-15 minutes daily. You can write about your day, things you’re grateful for, or challenges you face. You can also focus on daily observations like the weather.
The benefits of this simple practice extend far beyond the page. It can reduce stress, spark creativity, and help you solve problems more effectively. 40 You might be surprised by what you discover.
A.So, pick up a pen and start writing.
B.Keeping a journal also improves writing skills.
C.You can also share your journals with your friends for feedback.
D.Putting experiences into words can make them easier to understand.

On a hot September afternoon, Peter and his friend Isabel were on their way to the library. When they passed by Tubman Park, Isabel suggested cutting through it to get to the library. As they entered the park, the sight of the swings (秋千) and the merry-go-round brought back a flood of memories of their childhood spent there. But now everything looked so old, sad, and dirty. Litter lay on the ground next to an overflowing trash bin. There were still young schoolchildren playing there but they had to avoid the trash that littered the playground. A little boy told them that the city took the other trash cans away and the remaining one never got emptied often.
As they headed toward the library, the two high school students wrinkled their forehead. In the library, they encountered Mrs. Evans, their kind-hearted fifth-grade teacher, retired yet still passionate. Mrs. Evans listened as Isabel and Peter eagerly explained what they’d seen. Finally, she recommended them to go to the City Hall to voice their concerns.
The next day, Isabel and Peter went into the building of the City Hall but were met with an impatient officer. They were informed that the city couldn’t help with their problem due to a tight budget. Discouraged, they left and turned to Mrs. Evans for help.
Under her guidance, they decided to ask Go Green, a non-profit organization whose goal is to protect the environment, for help. “This group is good at raising money for projects just like yours,” said Mrs. Evans. She promised to arrange them to present their ideas to Go Green. Hearing this, their faces lit up.
Two main tasks remained ahead: researching ways to clean up the park and preparing a convincing presentation. As Isabel was good at researching while Peter always had a talent for speaking, they co-operated quite well. Isabel learned from a science magazine that a new type of trash bin can squeeze the trash down without being emptied often, which saves time, money, and energy. Based on this, Peter practiced his presentation over and over again.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
A week later, Peter stood nervously at the back of the hall where Go Green was meeting.

A week later, Peter stood nervously at the back of the hall where Go Green was meeting. Finally, it was time for him to do the presentation. Standing in front of several experts from Go Green, Peter was nervous in fear of screwing things up. But unbelievably, when he began to speak, everything went so smoothly. His voice was clear and influential, and his speech was logical and well-organized. Peter ended his presentation with a deep bow and went out to wait for Go Green’s decision.
After the meeting, Isabel excitedly told Peter the good news. Their ideas were approved and Go Green agreed to provide the money they needed to purchase the trash bin. Peter smiled. It meant not only their efforts paid off, but also Tubman Park would restore its cleanliness and tidiness. Peter and Isabel decided to tell Mrs. Evans this good news first and then worked out the next step they needed to take.

A.Parents. B.Teachers. C.Nurses. D.Students.
D

E.It is important to write your journal entry at the same time every day.
F.It allows you to look within, to recall the past, and to plan for the future.
G.A simple notebook or even a document on your computer will work perfectly.

注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
A week later, Peter stood nervously at the back of the hall where Go Green was meeting.

A.Parents. B.Teachers. C.Nurses. D.Students.
D

E.It is important to write your journal entry at the same time every day.
F.It allows you to look within, to recall the past, and to plan for the future.
G.A simple notebook or even a document on your computer will work perfectly.

注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
A week later, Peter stood nervously at the back of the hall where Go Green was meeting.

W: World Tai Chi and Qigong Day is an event held on the last Saturday of April each year. Its aim is to promote practices of Tai Chi and Qigong. Traditionalists say that Tai Chi is a mixture of self-defence and health and that these represent the two opposing forces of yin and yang. A form of Tai Chi with just 42 movements, called wushu, was a sport in the 11th Asian Games in 1990. There are attempts to make it an Olympic event.
