I have three children and I make them do housework. However, my mother-in-law (婆婆) doesn’t agree with me. She thinks I’m too harsh. In her opinion, it is adults’ job to do housework.
Our family is made up of five family members. No one in the family is more important than another, so each member should help with chores. I don’t ask my children to do the same chores, because their ages are different.
At the end of the day, after they finish playing with their toys, I ask them to put the toys away. If they don’t, they will have to say goodbye to their toys. I expect my children to set the table at night and help fold their own clothes. I don’t think I’m asking too much.
I know they are tired after a long day’s study at school, but that’s life — harsh but real. I don’t want to pay them for doing some chores. They live in the house, so they should help out with some things in the house. No one is going to pay them for cleaning up their rooms later in life and I’m not about to start doing it now.
Some parents protect their children from anything unpleasant and make their children’s lives too good and safe, but I’m not interested in that way. I hope my children are able to look after themselves.
56. What does the first paragraph mainly tell us?
A. The writer’s family members.

【原文】The first thing that man invented for sports was the ball. In ancient Egypt, throwing stones was children’s favorite game. But stones could hurt people. Looking for something less dangerous to throw, the Egyptians made the first balls. At first, balls were made of grass or leaves held together with rope. Later they were made of pieces of animals’ skin or other light, soft things. The Egyptians found time for peaceful games. Before long, they developed a number of ball games, each with its own set of rules. Perhaps they played the balls more for training than for fun. They thought ball playing was a useful way to train young people.

【31题详解】
句意:一开始我对看恐龙骨架不感兴趣。
固定搭配be interested in,表示“对……感兴趣”。interested用来描述人的感受;interesting修饰事物;interest是名词,不符合。
【32题详解】
句意:为什么有人想要去了解早已不复存在的事物?
固定搭配want to do sth.(想要做某事),want后面接动词不定式,所以用to learn。
