Dad says he wants to listen to the news. My 11-year-old self can’t understand why grown-ups would care about news when there are presents to open. Then, while I’m half-listening, something unusual happens: the newsreader begins talking about a Christmas message we’ve already heard. My older brother, Colin, figures it out. “Pete, it’s a tape recorder! We’ve got our tape recorder! ” It finally dawns on me: my dad recorded the news and is playing it back. I think it’s rare to experience real excitement over a present, but for me this was one of those moments. Colin and I were both blind from birth. At our boarding school, a recorder of your own was the height of joy. But Colin — more realistic about family finances — had no real expectations of getting one. I later realized a tape recorder cost more than four times dad’s weekly wage. The new toy, the size of a small suitcase, dominated the rest of the holidays. Once we mastered the controls, we recorded everything. For the first time — like sighted children seeing themselves in a mirror — we got the sense of ourselves as those who existed outside our own head. It was both exciting and embarrassing. When I returned to school, I walked around with my microphone, recording my thoughts like the voices on the radio. Ten years later, I walked into a radio station, hoping to become a broadcast journalist. Twenty-five years later, I presented my first report for BBC TV’s Six O’Clock News — a programme my dad never missed. Though he’d been dead for over a decade, I like to think he knew his Christmas present changed my life. 24. Why did dad want to listen to the news on Christmas morning? A. He expected to give the boys a surprise. B. He was postponing handing out his presents. C. He had always enjoyed listening to the news. D. He missed the Christmas news the day before. 25. What does the underlined “real excitement over a present” in paragraph 4 reflect? A. His pride in his father’s creativity. B. His surprise at new technology. C. His curiosity about the unexpected gift. D. His gratitude for a truly special gift. 26. What did the recorder enable the boys to do when they started to use it? A. Hear each other more clearly. B. Pursue a career in broadcasting. C. Discover more about themselves. D. Make their own radio programmes. 27. What is the best title for the text? A. My Journey to a Journalist B. A Gift That Changed a Life C. My Father’s Deep Hidden Love D. A Special Christmas Morning 【答案】24. A 25. D 26. C 27. 根据第一段“Dad says he wants to listen to the news. (爸爸说他想听新闻。)”第二段“Pete, it’s a tape recorder! We’ve got our tape recorder! (Pete,是录音机!我们有录音机了!)”和第三段“It finally dawns on me: my dad recorded the news and is playing it back. (我终于明白了:我爸爸录了新闻正在播放。)”可知,爸爸想在圣诞节早上听新闻是为了给孩子们一个惊喜。 【25题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段“I think it’s rare to experience real excitement over a present, but for me this was one of those moments. Colin and I were both blind from birth. At our boarding school, a recorder of your own was the height of joy. (我认为很少能体验到对礼物真正的兴奋,但对我来说这是那些时刻之一。Colin和我都是天生失明。在我们的寄宿学校,拥有自己的录音机是最高兴的事。)”可知,这份礼物对作者来说意义非凡,划线部分反映了他对这份真正特别礼物的感激之情。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据第五段“For the first time — like sighted children seeing themselves in a mirror — we got the sense of ourselves as those who existed outside our own head. (第一次——就像视力正常的孩子在镜子里看到自己一样——我们有了自己存在于自己头脑之外的感觉。)”可知,录音机让男孩们第一次发现了更多关于自己的东西。 【27题详解】 主旨大意题。根据最后一段“Though he’d been dead for over a decade, I like to think he knew his Christmas present changed my life. (尽管他已经去世十多年了,但我愿意相信他知道自己送的圣诞礼物改变了我的人生。)”以及全文对这份录音机礼物如何影响作者职业生涯的描述可知,本文主要讲述的是一份改变人生的礼物。 C There is a wide gap between China and developed economies such as the US and South Korea in terms of the chip industry. However, the nation has taken big steps in charting its own course, which is evident in its chip industry’s growth. And China can meet 85 percent of its domestic demand if the chip industry fully applies the 14-nanometer transistor (晶体管) technology. In fact, this could become a reality in three to four years. Still, China lags behind in the processing and manufacturing of chips, as well as chip design and packaging. Yet there is a silver lining for China, because the US’ technology blockade (封锁) helps remove the domestic objections to the development of the chip industry. The story of China’s LCD industry could be repeated in the chip industry this time: China has made joint efforts in the past ten years and now secures more than 60 percent of the LCD market. Nevertheless, there should not be a mad rush across the country to develop chips. The government should offer encouragements to state-owned as well as privately owned enterprises to produce high-quality chips. The measure of freeing integrated circuit-making enterprises of paying corporate income tax for two years is a good move in this direction. Also, China has about 1,700 semiconductor enterprises. They should be encouraged to pool their resources and technologies and strengthen their business operations so they can achieve breakthroughs in core technologies. Besides, China should build a friendlier environment to attract talents from across the world to its chip industry. It’s indeed alarming that China faces a shortage of 300, 000 professionals in the chip industry. As Ren Zhengfei, founder and CEO of Huawei, said, “We had adopted a money-pumping approach in the past to develop the electronic industry. However, it takes more than money to develop chips. We should try our best to win over mathematicians and physicists.” 28. What’s the author’s attitude towards China’s chip industry? A. Subjective. B. Objective. C. Indifferent. D. Doubtful. 29. What does the underlined phrase “a silver lining” in paragraph 2 probably refer to? A. A great success. B. A strong desire. C. A positive side. D. A slim chance. 30. What do we know about China’s LCD industry from the text? A. It is a highly profitable industry. B. It developed rapidly ten years ago. C. It is less important than the chip industry. D. It went through difficulties previously. 31. What’s the author’s purpose of writing the text? A. To list some disadvantages of China’s chip industry. B. To analyze the US’ influence on China’s chip industry. C. To show the rapid development of China’s chip industry. D. To provide advice on the development of Chin’s chip industry. B 29. C 30. D 31. 根据第一段“There is a wide gap between China and developed economies such as the US and South Korea in terms of the chip industry. However, the nation has taken big steps in charting its own course, which is evident in its chip industry’s growth. And China can meet 85 percent of its domestic demand if the chip industry fully applies the 14-nanometer transistor (晶体管) technology. In fact, this could become a reality in three to four years. Still, China lags behind in the processing and manufacturing of chips, as well as chip design and packaging.(在芯片产业方面,中国与美国、韩国等发达经济体之间存在很大差距。 根据第二段“Yet there is a silver lining for China, because the US’ technology blockade (封锁) helps remove the domestic objections to the development of the chip industry. The story of China’s LCD industry could be repeated in the chip industry this time: China has made joint efforts in the past ten years and now secures more than 60 percent of the LCD market.(然而,对中国来说也有a silver lining,因为美国的技术封锁有助于消除国内对芯片产业发展的反对意见。这一次,中国LCD产业的故事可能会在芯片行业重演:中国在过去的十年里共同努力,现在占据了60%以上的LCD市场。)”可知,中国LCD产业正是因为美国的技术封锁才取得了现在骄人的成就,由此推知,划线短语“a silver lining”是指美国的封锁也具有“积极的一面”,与“A positive side”同义。故选C项。 【30题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中“The story of China’s LCD industry could be repeated in the chip industry this time: China has made joint efforts in the past ten years and now secures more than 60 percent of the LCD market.(这一次,中国LCD产业的故事可能会在芯片行业重演:中国在过去的十年里共同努力,现在占据了60%以上的LCD市场。)” 通读全文,结合第三段“Nevertheless, there should not be a mad rush across the country to develop chips. The government should offer encouragements to state-owned as well as privately owned enterprises to produce high-quality chips. The measure of freeing integrated circuit-making enterprises of paying corporate income tax for two years is a good move in this direction.(然而,不应该在全国范围内疯狂地开发芯片。政府应该鼓励国有企业和民营企业生产高质量的芯片。集成电路制造企业免征企业所得税两年的措施就是朝这个方向迈出的一大步。)”、第四段中“Also, China has about 1,700 semiconductor enterprises. They should be encouraged to pool their resources and technologies and strengthen their business operations so they can achieve breakthroughs in core technologies.(此外,中国有大约1700家半导体企业。鼓励中小企业集中资源和技术,加强经营,实现核心技术突破。)”和第五段中“Besides, China should build a friendlier environment to attract talents from across the world to its chip industry. (此外,中国应该建立一个更友好的环境,以吸引来自世界各地的人才到中国的芯片产业。)”可推知,在客观介绍中国芯片行业面临的问题和机遇后,作者也为中国芯片产业的发展提供了建议,这是作者写作篇文章的目的。故选D项。 D In conversations with strangers, people commonly tend to think they should speak less than half the conversation time to be likable. But we’ve discovered this idea is wrong. Our data shows that people tend to think they should speak about 45% of the time to be likable in a one-on-one conversation with someone new. However, it appears speaking up a bit more is actually a better strategy. In our research, we randomly assigned people to speak for 30%, 40%, 50%, 60% of the time in a conversation with someone new. We found that the more they spoke, the more they were liked by their new partners. This was only one study with 116 participants, but the outcome is supported by other researchers’ findings. For example, a previous study randomly assigned one in a pair to take on the role of “speaker” and the other to take on the role of “listener. ” After engaging in 12-minute interactions, listeners liked speakers more than speakers liked listeners because listeners felt more similar to speakers than speakers did to listeners. This outcome suggests the reason people prefer those who speak up: Learning more about a new partner can make you feel like you have more in common with him or her. Further, we assigned people to speak for up to 70% and even 90% of the time. The result shows it is not an ideal strategy. Our research does not suggest people hold down a conversational partner but rather that they feel comfortable speaking up more than they usually might. Research like ours can help people gain a ‘more reasonable understanding of social interactions with new people and become more confident about how to make a good first impression. It has the obvious benefit of allowing us to carefully control speaking time. However, it does not reflect more natural conversations. Future research should figure out whether our findings generalize to more natural interactions. 32. What is the common belief concerning conversations with strangers? A. Speaking a little less is preferred. B. Speaking half the time is the best. C. Listeners are more likable than speakers. D. Listeners fail to control the conversations. 33. How was the research carried out? A. By analyzing speaking habits. B. By making comparisons. C. By listing examples. D. By collecting data. 34. What is the disadvantage of the research? A. The conversation time is limited. B. Further study is hard to continue. C. The findings are less widely appliable. D. Interactions with strangers are missing. 35. In which situation can the research finding be applied? A. Attending a family gathering. B. Partying with your friends. C. Meeting a new teacher. D. Making a public speech. A 33. B 34. C 35. 根据第一段中“In conversations with strangers, people commonly tend to think they should speak less than half the conversation time to be likable.(在与陌生人交谈时,人们通常倾向于认为他们说话少于一半的时间才能讨人喜欢。)” 根据第二段中“In our research, we randomly assigned people to speak for 30%, 40%, 50%, 60% of the time in a conversation with someone new. We found that the more they spoke, the more they were liked by their new partners.(在我们的研究中,我们随机分配了一些人,让他们在与陌生人对话时,用30%、40%、50%、60%的时间说话。我们发现,他们说得越多,他们的新合作伙伴就越喜欢他们。)”,可知,研究是“通过“比较说话时间”来实施的。故选B。 【34题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“However, it does not reflect more natural conversations. Future research should figure out whether our findings generalize to more natural interactions.(然而,它并没有反映出更自然的对话。未来的研究应该弄清楚我们的发现是否适用于更自然的相互作用。)”,可知,这项研究的缺点是“这些发现的适用性不那么广泛”,故选C。 【35题详解】 推理判断题。通读全文可知,文章介绍了一项关于如何与陌生人互动交往的研究,该研究发现可以应用于“与一位新老师初次见面”,其中new是关键词,故选C。 第二节(共5小题, 每小题2. 5分, 共12. 5分) True Beauty Comes from Within In today’s world, we see many pictures of “perfect” people. Living a healthy life is also a big part of true beauty. ____38____ Try to eat enough fruits and vegetables, and find a physical activity that you really like, such as walking or playing ball. The aim is to feel strong and full of energy, not to make yourself suffer. A healthy body helps you have a happy mind, making you feel good from the inside. (你可以从饮食和运动方面的小行动开始。)”作为过渡句,承接上下文,“diet”呼应下文中“eat enough fruits and vegetable”,“exercise”呼应下文“find a physical activity that you really like, such as walking or playing ball”。故选C。 【39题详解】 上文“Besides these aspects, beauty mostly comes from your heart. (除此之外,美主要源于内心。)”提出“美主要源于内心”的观点;下文“When you help someone carry heavy books, listen to a friend with patience, or share your things with others, you must be extremely charming. (人的内在美体现在你待人的方式上。)”点明内在美体现在如何待人,承接前文“美源于内心”的核心话题,引出后文的具体行为例证,明确“待人接物的方式”是内在美的具体体现,构成“观点+过渡+例证”的逻辑链。故选A。 【40题详解】 上文“When you help someone carry heavy books, listen to a friend with patience, or share your things with others, you must be extremely charming. (当你帮他人搬重物、耐心倾听朋友倾诉或与他人分享物品时,你一定极具魅力。)”指出帮助他人等善意行为会“让你有魅力”;G选项“These good actions help you build a strong connection with people. (这些好的行为可以帮助你与人建立牢固的联系)”承接上文,说明善举的作用与益处,选项中“These good actions”指代上文中的“help someone carry heavy books, listen to a friend with patience, or share your things with others”。 The most affectionate memory of my childhood is about a round table. I woke up early in the morning and went to run on Mount Gracious with my dog, Bubbles. As I ran up the mountain, with my dog following close behind, I felt energetic and refreshed. Running in a natural environment never failed to make me feel alive. When I reached the top, I drank some water and enjoyed the beautiful sunrise. This scene always took my breath away, no matter how many times I had seen it. Having rested enough, Bubbles and I made our way back down the mountain. As we were running downhill, I saw an unfamiliar path and decided to explore the area. The path was full of rocks. It was not easy to walk. Suddenly, I slipped on a muddy patch, rolling down five meters before I managed to grab hold of an exposed root of a huge tree. I was safe for now. However, I was seriously injured. My knees were badly hurt. My right foot was also dislocated (脱臼). I knew for sure I would be unable to make my way up or down the mountain without help. I called out to Bubbles and he barked loudly from above. It seemed like he understood that I needed help. He looked down at me pitifully before disappearing from sight. As night fell, panic (恐慌) set in and scary thoughts went through my mind. There were many things that I had got to do. I couldn't die! This would not have happened if I had stuck to my usual path. I was losing hope when I heard barking. It was Bubbles. I rubbed my eyes as I struggled to keep awake. But there was silence. Who could it be? Was I hallucinating (产生幻觉)? Then I heard some voices and more barking. Yes. Help was near, I knew. I could count on my dog to get help. Soon, I heard my parents calling my name. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Later, my parents told me what Bubbles had done to get help. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Soon, I heard my parents calling my name. So I began calling back. A moment later, I saw the light of a flashlight. Following my voice and with Bubbles leading the way, my parents finally found me. They looked nervous and worried. After learning I was badly hurt, my parents quickly climbed down to me. They examined my cuts and my foot and decided that I had better not walk. Then, my father carried me on his back, down the mountain and to the nearest clinic, where a doctor was waiting for us. Later, my parents told me what Bubbles had done to get help. He quickly ran home and waited until my parents came home from work. He barked loudly at my parents. They were confused and thought the dog might be hungry at first. So they gave Bubbles some food, but he didn't stop harking. Suddenly, they realized I hadn't come back home with Bubbles as usual and that I must have been in trouble. At that moment, Bubbles ran out and my parents followed him closely. Bubbles remembered the way and led my parents to the spot. 看见:see / catch sight of ②.检查:examine / check ③.意识到:realize / be aware of 情绪类 ①. 25. A Special Christmas Morning C There is a wide gap between China and developed economies such as the US and South Korea in terms of the chip industry. D In conversations with strangers, people commonly tend to think they should speak less than half the conversation time to be likable. 第二节(共5小题, 每小题2. 5分, 共12. 5分) True Beauty Comes from Within In today’s world, we see many pictures of “perfect” people. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $第一节听下面五段录音。 Have you always lived in america?
