Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I’m Zhan Haojing, a high school student. I’m also a puppet performer. Look at this puppet. If I move my fingers, it will come to life!
I was born into a family of Minnan puppet performers. My grandpa and my mum are both among the best. When I was little, I loved the amazing stories they told with their hands. However, things changed when I became a teenager. I felt less close to the art because people thought puppets were too old-fashioned. I didn’t want to take part in the performances unless I was asked to.
One day my mum showed me a video of a performance by my grandpa’s teacher. The beautiful puppets and their exciting movements amazed me. I suddenly remembered how much I loved this art.
I posted my doubts online: “Well, should I continue?” To my surprise, the post was flooded with warm answers. Many people showed their love for the art of puppetry and encouraged me to hold on. A truth hit me—it was my responsibility to keep the art alive because the love for puppets was in my blood.
The art will be popular again if young people are interested in it. So I held a puppet show at school. When I finished, I saw something surprising: the students were completely lost in the show. Their eyes were glued to the puppets. After a warm cheer, they came to ask where they could see more.
The positive reply from the young viewers gave me more courage. Since then, my puppet shows have drawn more attention both from home and abroad. With more and more people joining in, I believe the special magic of this traditional art will last forever!

The rise of AI doctors is not like something from science fiction anymore. It’s really happening now. In different parts of China, AI doctors are bringing big changes to the medical field.
In February 2025, Beijing Children’s Hospital brought in the country’s first AI pediatrician (儿科医生). An 8-year-old boy had a sudden and serious illness. Thirteen top experts were trying hard to find the best treatment. At the same time, the AI doctor came up with a treatment plan and it was like the human doctors’ thought.
In Shandong, a couple were very distressed when their child had a high fever. They decided to try DeepSeek before going to the hospital. After putting in the description of the illness, the AI said it was probably a bacterial infection (细菌感染) and suggested some medicine. When they went to the hospital, the doctor gave exactly the same medicine.
Even in some villages of Jiangsu, AI doctors help patients tell about their illnesses and make it easier for disabled people to move around in the hospital.
All these examples show us two important things AI doctors can do. They can help top doctors make better choices and they can also make healthcare easier for everyone in the country. However, AI doctors need to make more improvements. As one doctor said, “AI doctors can give us ideas, but we still need the care given by humans.”

A journey of self-discovery
As a young child, I believed that being popular was the most important thing. I thought having many friends and getting noticed mattered a lot. But when I became a teenager, my thoughts started to change.
I realised that trying to be popular was stressful. I was trying to act like someone I was not. The friends I had were not true friends. They liked me because I was popular, not because we truly cared about each other. I often felt lonely, even when I was surrounded by people. It was hard to keep acting. I felt like I wasn’t myself.
One day, my teacher said something. It stayed with me for a long time. “Being kind, learning, growing and having real friends is more important than being popular.” Her words made me think deeply about what really matters in life.
I started to focus on my studies and personal growth instead of trying to be liked by everyone. I built stronger friendships. They were built on respect and understanding, not on popularity. These friendships made me feel supported and valued.
Changing my view didn’t happen overnight, and it wasn’t easy. But as I grow, I see that popularity doesn’t define (界定) who I am. What truly matters is being kind, staying true to yourself, learning and having real friends. Now, I focus on becoming a better version (版本) of myself every day. Life is more meaningful when you live it honestly. I’m still learning and growing, and I’m excited to see what’s next.
