八下Unit1 Career talks
(My Dream Career)
1. What career do you want?
2. Why do you choose it?
3. What will you do to prepare for it?
My Dream Career
Everyone has a dream career. I want to become a pilot when I grow up.
Flying in the blue sky has been my dream since I was a child. I know this job is challenging and requires good eyesight, strong communication skills and quick reactions. It is also necessary to learn English well, because pilots talk with people from all over the world.
To prepare for it, I will study hard, exercise every day and organise my time carefully. I surely believe my dream will come true with hard work.
(Will Robots Take Our Jobs?)
请以“Will Robots Take Our Jobs?”
1. What jobs may be replaced?
2. What jobs will stay?
3. What should we do?
Will Robots Take Our Jobs?
With modern technology, many people worry that robots will replace humans.
It is true that some jobs are changing fast, for example cashiers and drivers on autopilot. Virtual reality and AI can even provide new ways of working, and some companies are already using them.
However, many jobs need a human heart. Teachers, doctors and nurses must show care, communication and leadership, which machines can never truly copy. Beyond skills, we also need love and understanding.
In my opinion, we should not fear the future. We should improve our skills, stay creative and learn to work with technology. The best way to keep a job is to keep learning.
Unit2 Growing pains and gains
(My Growing Pain)
1. What problem did you meet?
2. How did you feel?
3. How did you deal with it?
My Growing Pain
Growing up is not always easy. Last term, I failed an important exam and felt disappointed.
For days, I didn't want to talk to anyone. My parents were worried, but they didn't push me too hard. One evening, my father sat on the sofa beside me and said, "I promise you are not alone." His words warmed my heart.
I began to face my weaknesses and made a study plan. Clearly, I still have a long way to go, but I have learned to ask for help. This pain has become a gain.
(Facing Peer Pressure)
1. What is peer pressure?
2. How does it affect students?
3. What can we do?
Facing Peer Pressure
As teenagers, we often face peer pressure — the feeling that we must do what others do.
It can be harmful. Some students buy expensive things they can't afford, or spend hours on games just to fit in. A friend of mine even stopped studying because his friends laughed at him. That was really heartbreaking.
However, peer pressure is not always bad. Good friends can push us to work harder and learn new skills. The key is our own attitude.
What should we do? First, think clearly about what is right, and don't follow others completely. Second, talk with parents or teachers when we feel lost. Third, choose friends who share our dreams. Growing up means learning to trust our own heart.
Unit3 What makes a great team?
(Working in a Team)
1. What did your team do?
2. What was your role?
3. What did you learn?
Working in a Team
Last month, our class worked in teams to prepare a drama for the school art festival.
I was shy, so I didn't want to act. My teammates advised me to be the director, because I am good at planning. I agreed and began to organise every meeting. Little by little, I found my confidence.
In the end, our play was a success. I learned that a great team needs teamwork, cooperation and effort. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, but together we are stronger.
(What Makes a Great Team?)
请以“What Makes a Great Team?”
1. What makes a great team?
2. Why is teamwork important?
3. What's your experience or advice?
What Makes a Great Team?
What makes a great team? Is it talent or hard work? In my opinion, it is trust and cooperation.
Firstly, a great team needs a good leader who listens to different suggestions. Secondly, every member should know his role and do his best. Thirdly, when we have a disagreement, we should talk honestly instead of keeping silence.
I once joined a climbing team. One boy hurt his leg, and we lowered him down the rope together. Nobody gave up. That experience taught me the true strength of a team.
In my opinion, a great team is not a group of perfect people, but a group of people who trust each other and never break their promise.
Unit4 Helping out
(Helping Out)
1. When and where did you help others?
2. What did you do?
3. How did you feel?
Helping Out
Last Sunday, I joined a voluntary activity to help homeless animals.
We went to a small animal home near our school. Some students cleaned the rooms, and others donated old clothes and food. I spent the whole afternoon walking the dogs and playing with the cats. One little dog was pale and weak, so I especially took care of it.
I felt tired but happy. Helping others brings warmth to both sides, and I decided to keep doing voluntary work.
(The Power of Kindness)
1. What experience with kindness did you have?
2. How did it help others?
3. What do you think of kindness?
The Power of Kindness
Kindness is a small act with great power.
Last winter, my classmate Li Ming was ill and had to stay in hospital for weeks. His family was poor and could not afford the treatment. When our teacher mentioned this, everyone wanted to help. We donated our pocket money, wrote cards for him and took turns to help him with his lessons. His mother said our goodwill gave her warmth and hope. Luckily, Li Ming got better and returned to school before the final exam.
In my opinion, kindness doesn't need much money or great means. A smile, a helping hand or a few kind words can change someone's life. Let's pass on this warmth, and the world will become a better place.
Unit5 Looking into nature
(Looking into Nature)
1. When and where did you do it?
2. What did you see?
3. What did you learn?
Looking into Nature
Last spring, our class went to a nature museum to look into the secrets of nature.
We saw models of dinosaurs, real feathers and amber with small insects inside. A guide explained how species change and why some animals disappeared. I also learned that whales and lizards are still alive today, but they are very different from ancient animals.
I was surprised by how little I knew. Nature is endless and full of unknown things. I want to learn more and protect our planet.
(The Spirit of Exploration)
1. What does exploration mean?
2. Who is an example of it?
3. What can we learn?
The Spirit of Exploration
Exploration is the method we use to unlock the unknown world.
Take the scientists who study dinosaurs as an example. They work in hot deserts and cold northern areas, digging for bones year after year. With patience and wisdom, they turn a few old bones into a whole story of life. Their writing and arguments help us understand where we come from.
I also admire ordinary explorers: a student who watches bees for hours, or a villager who knows every plant in the mountain. Anybody can be an explorer if he keeps curiosity and asks questions.
In my opinion, exploration is not only about finding new planets or species. It is about keeping an open mind. Let's keep looking, keep asking and keep learning.
Unit6 Living with nature
(Living with Nature)
1. What is nature like in your hometown?
2. How do people live with it?
3. What's your advice?
Living with Nature
My hometown is a small village in the countryside.
There are green fields of wheat and a small river. People here live with the seasons: they work in spring and rest in winter. My grandpa says the arrival of swallows tells him when to sow.
Nature provides us with food, water and energy. However, we must protect the environment and save every resource, or there will be a shortage of clean water.
Let's live with nature in a friendly way, and nature will give us more back.
(Living in Harmony with Nature)
1. Why should we live in harmony with nature?
2. What problems do we face?
3. What can we do?
Living in Harmony with Nature
For thousands of years, Chinese people have believed that humans and nature are one family.
However, we now face serious problems. The environment is getting worse, rainfall changes greatly, and there is a shortage of clean water in many places. Probably the most serious problem is that many animals can no longer survive.
What can we do? First, save every resource — water, energy and paper — and increase green areas in our cities. Second, learn from old wisdom, such as the 24 Solar Terms, and live with the seasons. Third, react quickly when we see pollution and tell more people about it.
In my opinion, living with nature doesn't mean we stop growing. It means we grow in a wise and gentle way. Especially for us teenagers, small daily habits matter. If we all do our part, our planet will stay energetic and beautiful for our children.
