阅读短文,从A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
What kind of person are you? Our personalities partly shape our choices in study and daily life. Here are four common personality types among teenagers.
● Self‑confident people
They are sure about their own judgements. They are good at taking the lead in group work. However, some of them are too stubborn to accept different advice from others. When they meet teenage problems, they prefer to work out solutions by themselves rather than ask for help.
● Creative people
Creative teenagers often come up with new ideas. They enjoy thinking out of the box. But they are sometimes careless with details. When heavy study pressure comes, they may feel upset because strict rules limit their imagination.
● Careful & organized people
They plan tasks well and seldom make silly mistakes. They pay plenty of attention to details. The shortcoming is that they worry too much. Facing exam stress, they are easy to doubt whether their work is good enough.
● Open‑minded communicators
They are good listeners and enjoy talking with people around. They can deal with interpersonal problems smoothly. Still, they may care too much about others’ opinions, which brings unnecessary stress.
No personality is completely perfect. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses helps you solve your teenage problems better.
11. What is the disadvantage of some self‑confident teenagers?
A. They hate group work. B. They may refuse others’ suggestions.
C. They care too much about details. D. They have no imagination.
12. Which word can best describe organized teenagers when facing exams?
A. relaxed B. proud C. worried D. careless
13. What is the main purpose of this text?
A. To introduce four teenage personality types.
B. To teach teenagers how to get higher scores.
C. To explain why teenagers have no stress.
D. To show different ways of communication.
B
Many teenagers suffer from stress in their daily life. The stress may come from study, parents’ high expectations or relationships with classmates. Some teenagers keep their worries inside. They seldom share bad feelings, which makes their pressure become heavier little by little.
Millie, a ninth‑grader, used to be such a girl. She was modest and hard‑working. But she was afraid of letting her parents down. Every time before big exams, she could hardly fall asleep. She kept all troubles to herself and refused to talk with anybody.
Luckily, her head‑teacher noticed her unusual situation. The teacher didn’t blame her for her weak points. Instead, she encouraged Millie to speak out her true thoughts. She told Millie that it is all right not to be perfect. Millie tried to open her heart. She talked about her fear of failure with her parents. To her surprise, her parents gradually understood her real feelings. They lowered some of their high requirements.
Stress cannot be avoided during teenage years. Running away from problems never works. Talking with trusted people is a useful way. Besides, proper hobbies and enough rest also help teenagers fight against stress.
14. Where may teenage stress come from according to Paragraph 1?
A. Good sleep and exercise.
B. Study and parents’ expectations.

B. They set much harder goals for her.
C. They began to understand her feelings.
D. They asked her to give up all hobbies.
17. Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A. Fighting against teenage stress wisely
B. How to become a perfect student
C. Why parents are always strict
D. Different kinds of personalities
C
Do you know how your personality influences your ways of solving teenage problems? Some teenagers are energetic and take action quickly. Others are thoughtful and think twice before doing things.
Leo is active and full of energy. He is outgoing and good at organizing class activities. When he meets troubles, he likes to solve them right away. However, sometimes he makes decisions too quickly without full thinking, so he may cause new mistakes. When he feels angry or upset, he often takes exercise to release bad moods.
Cindy is quiet and thoughtful. She thinks carefully before making choices. She is good at noticing small problems. But she spends too much time thinking. She is afraid of making mistakes, so she sometimes puts off solving problems. When she has pressure, she likes to stay alone and read books.
There is no “right” or “wrong” personality. If you are like Leo, slow down a little and think more before you act. If you are similar to Cindy, learn to make brave decisions and don’t fear small mistakes. Accept who you are, and find your own suitable ways to deal with teenage difficulties.
18. What is Leo’s shortcoming?
A. He never takes action to solve problems.
B. He may make decisions too fast.
C. He hates taking sports exercise.

19. The underlined phrase “puts off” in Paragraph 3 means ________.

20. What suggestion does the writer give to Cindy‑like teenagers?
A. Solve every problem in a very short time.
B. Never think about possible mistakes.
C. Be braver to make decisions.
D. Keep staying alone all the time.
21. What can we learn from the text?
A. Quiet teenagers have more problems than active ones.
B. Personality decides whether you will meet troubles.
C. We should accept our personality and find proper problem‑solving methods.
D. Energetic teenagers never feel upset or stressed.
D
Simon is a Grade 9 boy. He is clever but has trouble balancing study and playing ball games. He is a born football player. Playing football makes him full of confidence. However, his parents believe football gets in the way of his schoolwork. They do not allow him to practise football on weekdays.
Simon feels bad about this. He doesn’t want to give up his hobby, yet he doesn’t want to make his parents disappointed. He once argued with them, but that only made the situation worse. His friend advised him to write a letter to his parents. In the letter, he told them that football helped him relax after long hours of study. He also promised to keep his grades at a good level.
His parents read the letter seriously. They had a long talk with Simon later. They reached an agreement: Simon can practise football for one hour every Wednesday afternoon, as long as he finishes his homework well and keeps good progress in lessons.
Many teenagers face similar conflicts between hobbies and schoolwork. Quitting hobbies is not always the only answer. Proper communication can help both sides understand each other better.
22. What is Simon’s teenage problem?
A. He is not clever enough for school subjects.
B. He cannot balance football hobby and schoolwork.
C. His parents force him to give up all sports forever.

25. What is the writer’s opinion in this story?
A. Teenagers must give up hobbies for study.

阅读短文,根据短文内容用英语回答问题。
What makes teenagers feel worried? Besides heavy schoolwork, the relationship between teenagers and their parents is another main source of stress. Many teenagers say their parents cannot truly understand them. Parents often set strict rules and high expectations. They care much about marks, but sometimes pay little attention to teenagers’ true feelings and hobbies.
Amy is a typical teenage girl. She is creative and loves art. However, her mother thinks art is useless for future exams. She stops Amy from taking painting courses. Amy feels sad and lonely. At first, she chose to keep silent. Later her teacher advised her to have an open‑hearted talk with her mom. Amy prepared patiently and explained how painting helped her reduce study pressure. She also promised to keep her school grades good. After several talks, her mother began to understand her thought.
Problems between teenagers and parents are common. Running away or keeping silent cannot solve them. Open communication plays a key role. Teenagers should try to express themselves calmly instead of getting angry quickly.
54. What is another main source of teenage stress besides heavy schoolwork?
55. Why did Amy’s mother stop her from taking painting courses?
56. In your opinion, what should teenagers do when they have problems with their parents? Give one reason.
