Every muscle ache, every early morning, every canceled weekend with friends had been justified by that dream, yet when the moment of truth finally arrived at the national qualifiers, he froze on the wall, his fingers slipping from a hold he had grasped a thousand times before, and he watched as a younger competitor claimed the spot which he had convinced himself belonged to him. What followed was not anger but something far more damaging: a quiet, slow-spreading shame that made him avoid the climbing gym entirely for weeks. His coach, a retired Olympian named Dovile, did not offer easy comfort when he finally returned. Instead, she led him to a training board marked with routes he had mastered years ago, routes that now felt impossible because his mind had become his greatest enemy. “You have forgotten,” she said, “that the wall does not care about your past victories. It only asks whether you are willing to fall again.” Those words, simple as they were, settled themselves somewhere deep in his chest and refused to leave. He began showing up not to prove anything to anyone but to practice falling — intentionally letting go, hitting the mats (垫子), and pulling himself back up until the fear of failure no longer held him prisoner. The transformation was gradual rather than dramatic, but when the next competition season arrived, Jokūbas climbed not as someone desperate to win but as someone who had finally learned to trust the process itself. He did not take first place that day, nor did he qualify for the championship he had once valued above all else. Yet as he walked off the mat, he understood that the real victory had occurred long before, on those quiet afternoons when he chose to keep climbing despite having every reason to quit. 4. What did Jokūbas do for his dream? A. He sacrificed his spare time. B. He trained with his competitors. C. He joined extra competitions. D. He ignored physical tiredness. 5. Which can best describe Jokūbas after he failed? A. He felt angry with himself. B. He grew greatly ashamed. C. He doubted his coach’s advice. D. He gave up climbing totally. 6. What can we infer about Dovile? A. She focused on mental state. B. She emphasized contest results. C. She had no pity on real losers. D. She tended to avoid challenges. 7. What is the author’s main purpose in writing the text? A. To praise top young athletes. B. To introduce climbing skills. C. To share a lesson on failure. D. To comment on game rules. A 5. B 6. A 7. 根据第二段“Every muscle ache, every early morning, every canceled weekend with friends had been justified by that dream, yet when the moment of truth finally arrived at the national qualifiers, he froze on the wall, his fingers slipping from a hold he had grasped a thousand times before, and he watched as a younger competitor claimed the spot which he had convinced himself belonged to him.(每一次肌肉酸痛,每一个清晨,每一个被取消的和朋友共度的周末,都因为这个梦想而显得无比值得。然而当决定性时刻终于在国家选拔赛到来时,他站在墙边僵住了,手指从千百次握过的攀岩支点滑落,看着一位年轻的选手夺走了他早已认定属于自己的一席之地)”可知,为了实现梦想,Jokūbas取消了周末与朋友的聚会,这说明他牺牲了自己的业余时间。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“What followed was not anger but something far more damaging: a quiet, slow-spreading shame that made him avoid the climbing gym entirely for weeks.(接下来的不是愤怒,而是一种破坏性强得多的情绪:一种悄无声息、缓慢蔓延的羞耻感,让他整整数周都避开了攀岩馆)”可知,比赛失利后,随之而来是一种缓慢蔓延的羞耻感。 根据第三段“His coach, a retired Olympian named Dovile, did not offer easy comfort when he finally returned. Instead, she led him to a training board marked with routes he had mastered years ago, routes that now felt impossible because his mind had become his greatest enemy. “You have forgotten,” she said, “that the wall does not care about your past victories. It only asks whether you are willing to fall again.”(他的教练,一位名叫多维勒的退役奥运选手,在他终于归来时并未给予轻易的安慰。相反,她带他来到一块训练板前,上面标着他多年前就已经掌握的路线,而如今这些路线却让他觉得无比艰难,因为他的心智已成了自己最大的敌人。“你已经忘了,”她说,“那堵墙并不在意你过去的胜利。它只关心你是否愿意再次跌倒。”)”可知,教练非常注重运动员的心理状态建设。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。通读全文,并结合最后一段“Yet as he walked off the mat, he understood that the real victory had occurred long before, on those quiet afternoons when he chose to keep climbing despite having every reason to qui.(然而当他走下垫子时,他明白真正的胜利早在很久之前就已经到来:在那些宁静的午后,尽管他有无数理由放弃,却依然选择继续攀岩)”可知,文章讲述了年轻攀岩运动员Jokūbas在比赛失利后,在教练的帮助下学会直面失败、克服心理恐惧,最终领悟到真正的胜利在于坚持不懈的过程而非比赛名次的故事。 C Imagine wandering through a dark forest for hours, then traveling all the way home — in a straight line. Bull ants do this every night, and scientists have long wondered how. It turns out they use a previously unknown type of Moon compass (指南针) — never seen before in the animal kingdom. To figure it out, Cody Freas, a behavioral ecologist, and his colleagues trapped bull ants the moment they left their nests. They allowed or denied the insects the chance to observe the Moon by grouping the individuals in a clear bottle or a black box. Then they brought them to an unfamiliar setting 200 meters away — an abandoned basketball court— to test which direction they traveled home. After comparing their separate paths, the team concluded the behavior of ants that could see moonlight was consistent with what’s called a time-compensated (时间补偿的 ) lunar compass. Essentially, the insects observe how quickly the Moon moves to estimate the relative position of their home and update that prediction with time. The dynamic speed of the Moon’s movement complicates this strategy. It rises slowly, speeds up when it’s at the highest point in the sky, and then slows down as it sets. Ants could be terribly misled if they don’t account for that, but the researchers discovered the insects have an inborn sense that the Moon’s speed shifts, and they compensate for it. The discovery makes bull ants the first known animals to navigate (导航) using this type of compass. Navigating with the Moon presents several advantages. Unlike stars, which other insects use to navigate, the Moon is not blocked by light pollution, and it can be bright enough to breakthrough clouds. Bull ants also have specialized eyes that allow them to see circular (环形的) patterns of polarized moonlight spreading across the sky, so they can sense the Moon’s position, even when it’s below the horizon. Freas says the study has given him a new appreciation of the Moon as a navigational aid. “The more time you spend under the Moon,” he says, “the more it seems like a much better helper than you originally think.” 8. Which aspect of the study does paragraph 2 mainly talk about? A. The process. B. The purposes. C. The background. D. The findings. 9. What helps bull ants navigate correctly according to the text? A. Their familiarity with the path to home. B. Their tolerance for the Moon’s movement. C. Their independence from time compensation. D. Their adjustment to the Moon’s speed change. 10. What can be inferred from the last but one paragraph? A. Navigating with the Moon is reliable for the bull ants. B. Bull ants’ eyes are characterized by circular patterns. C. Light pollution affects bull ants’ sense of direction. D. Bull ants can see the Moon below the horizon. 11. What does Freas think of bull ants using Moon compass? A. It’s controversial. B. It’s challenging. C. It’s mysterious. D. It’s amazing. A 9. D 10. A 11. 根据第二段“To figure it out, Cody Freas, a behavioral ecologist, and his colleagues trapped bull ants the moment they left their nests. They allowed or denied the insects the chance to observe the Moon by grouping the individuals in a clear bottle or a black box. Then they brought them to an unfamiliar setting 200 meters away — an abandoned basketball court — to test which direction they traveled home.(为了弄清楚这一点,行为生态学家科迪·弗雷斯和他的同事们在公牛蚁离开巢穴的那一刻就抓住了它们。他们通过将公牛蚁分别放在一个透明的瓶子里或一个黑盒子里,来允许或阻止它们观察月亮。然后,他们把它们带到一个200米外的不熟悉的环境——一个废弃的篮球场——来测试它们回家的方向。)”可知,本段主要介绍了研究的过程。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“The dynamic speed of the Moon’s movement complicates this strategy. It rises slowly, speeds up when it’s at the highest point in the sky, and then slows down as it sets. Ants could be terribly misled if they don’t account for that, but the researchers discovered the insects have an inborn sense that the Moon’s speed shifts, and they compensate for it.(月亮运动的动态速度使这一策略复杂化。它上升缓慢,在天空最高点时加速,然后在下落时减速。如果蚂蚁不考虑这一点,它们可能会被严重误导,但研究人员发现,这些昆虫有一种天生的感觉,即月亮的速度会发生变化,它们会对此进行补偿。)”可知,公牛蚁会根据月亮速度的变化进行调整,从而帮助它们正确导航。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“Navigating with the Moon presents several advantages. Unlike stars, which other insects use to navigate, the Moon is not blocked by light pollution, and it can be bright enough to breakthrough clouds. Bull ants also have specialized eyes that allow them to see circular (环形的) patterns of polarized moonlight spreading across the sky, so they can sense the Moon’s position, even when it’s below the horizon.(利用月亮导航有几个优点。与其他昆虫用来导航的星星不同,月亮不会被光污染所阻挡,而且它的亮度足以穿透云层。公牛蚁还有特殊的眼睛,可以看到极化的月光在天空中扩散的圆形图案,所以即使月亮在地平线以下,它们也能感知到月亮的位置。)”可知,利用月亮导航对公牛蚁来说是可靠的。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Freas says the study has given him a new appreciation of the Moon as a navigational aid. “The more time you spend under the Moon,” he says, “the more it seems like a much better helper than you originally think.”(弗雷斯说,这项研究让他对月亮作为导航辅助工具有了新的认识。他说:“你在月亮下待的时间越长,它就越像是一个比你最初想象的更好的帮手。”)”可知,弗雷斯认为公牛蚁使用月亮指南针是令人惊叹的。 D The 21st century has created a whole range of new types of professionals that we have never had before — or if not quite new, at least newly repackaged. The world has always had influential people, for instance, but only now do we have “Influencer”. Similarly, the corporate world has certainly known its fair share of disruption, yet it is only in the last couple of decades that the “Disruptor” has become a recognisable figure in the way we talk about big business. In an earlier era, the Disruptor would have been called an Innovator. Yet while an Innovator creates something new, the Disruptor is defined as much by what they destroy as by what they create. The Disruptor forces change; the clean-up is somebody else’s problem. It’s an attitude best summed up as “Move fast and break things.” Back in 1929, G. K. Chesterton identified the core problem with moving fast and breaking things through a thought experiment. Imagine there is a fence along a road. Suppose it’s been there a long time, and was put there for some purpose. But that purpose is lost over time. To us, now, the fence seems to be nothing but an impediment. Why not remove it? When faced with such a fence, Chesterton thinks the fact that we can’t see the point of the fence is why we should not tear it down. Some fences keep foxes out of henhouses, for instance. If you think you can do without the fence because you’ve never seen a fox, consider if the existence of the fence is precisely why you’ve never seen one. Importantly, Chesterton is not saying that things can never be reformed. His is a preventive principle rather than an outright prohibition. We could rephrase it like this: understand the wisdom in past decisions before you reject them. If we’re too impetuous, we can end up tearing out things we don’t yet realise we rely upon. But uncritical devotion to the “way things are done” can also deny us the possibility of better days. What is required, then, is not the fearlessness of the Disruptor, but the humility (谦卑) to stop and ask questions and to know that our own perspective is neither unique nor comprehensive. Disruption can be a force for good. It can also just leave a big mess. We need the ability to work out which messes are worth avoiding — because however impressively fast you move, some things can’t be easily unbroken. 12. Regarding Chesterton’s principle, the author is _____________. A. supportive B. doubtful C. conflicted D. disappointed 13. What does the word “impetuous” underlined in Paragraph 5 most probably mean? A. Short-sighted. B. Narrow-minded. C. Hot-headed. D. Old-fashioned. 14. What can we infer from this passage about the Disruptor? A. They may clear up other people’s mess. B. They are in favour of the preventive principle. C. They preserve more traditions than they break. D. They may create more problems than they solve. 15. What does the author intend to tell us? A. Humility should be a driving force for human progress. B. Innovation should move forward the wheel of tradition. C. Reform should draw from the wellspring of past wisdom. D. Disruption should be given priority in social development. A 13. C 14. D 15. 根据第五段“Importantly, Chesterton is not saying that things can never be reformed. His is a preventive principle rather than an outright prohibition.(重要的是,Chesterton并不是说事物永远不能改革。他提出的是一种预防性原则,而非彻底禁止变革。)”以及第六段“What is required, then, is not the fearlessness of the Disruptor, but the humility (谦卑) to stop and ask questions and to know that our own perspective is neither unique nor comprehensive.(因此,我们需要的不是颠覆者的无所畏惧,而是停下来思考发问的谦卑之心,明白我们自身的看法既非独一无二,也并非面面俱到。)” 根据第五段“If we’re too impetuous, we can end up tearing out things we don’t yet realise we rely upon.(如果我们太过impetuous,最终可能毁掉那些我们尚且没有意识到、却十分依赖的事物。)” 根据第二段“The Disruptor forces change; the clean-up is somebody else’s problem.(颠覆者强行推动变革,收拾残局却是别人的事。)”以及第六段“Disruption can be a force for good. It can also just leave a big mess.(颠覆或许能产生积极作用,但也可能只留下一堆烂摊子。)” 根据第五段“We could rephrase it like this: understand the wisdom in past decisions before you reject them.(我们可以这样概括:在否定过往决策之前,先领会其中蕴含的智慧。)” On September 9, Apple entered the foldable phone market with the iPhone Duo, its first folding phone. For a company whose every move leads the industry, this was no small event. ____16____ Huawei had in fact moved before Apple. Two days before the Apple event, it unveiled its second tri-fold flagship, the Mate XT2, putting it on sale before the iPhone Duo could even be pre-ordered. ____17____ The message to consumers was plain: Huawei had no intention of giving up its ground. Huawei’s confidence rests on hard numbers. In the first half of 2026, it held roughly two-thirds of China’s foldable market. ____18____ No other company came close. ____19____ In evaluating the iPhone Duo, Huawei sees more opportunity than threat. Many analysts agree: Apple’s entry has finally made the foldable form impossible to doubt, and the company best placed to profit from a bigger market is the one that already leads it. Production targets for Huawei’s foldable lines are said to be rising for the second half of the year. Rather than narrowing its defense, Huawei is widening it. Beyond the tri-fold Mate XT2, it is reportedly developing another book-style foldable with a 7.6-inch main screen, one that looks much like the iPhone Duo on paper. ____20____ All of these devices run on Huawei’s own Kirin chips and HarmonyOS — a sign that the battle for the future of folding phones has only begun. A. Many buyers, however, say they would rather wait for a second generation. B. This second model is expected to appear within months, giving Huawei an Apple-style answer of its own. C. Huawei first entered the foldable market in 2019 with its original Mate X. D. That confidence, however, tells only half the story. E. This early strike was carefully timed to seize the spotlight before Apple could own it. F. Yet the louder answer to it would come from its strongest challenger in China, Huawei. G. Such dominance took years of patient work to build. 16. F 17. E 18. G 19. D 20. Faced with endless daily tests and heavy learning tasks, he spared no effort to make progress step by step. Every day, he devoted himself fully to his studies, hoping to lay a solid foundation for his future studies. For him, every moment of study was precious, and a peaceful, undisturbed learning environment was essential to efficient revision. However, an unexpected trouble came to him. A flock of birds built their nests in the tall old tree just outside his classroom window. From early morning till sunset, the birds kept singing loudly and non-stop. The sharp and continuous chirping cut through the quiet classroom again and again, easily breaking his train of thought. Whenever he tried to memorize key knowledge or focus on difficult exercises, the noisy sounds would distract him at once. Gradually, he grew restless and frustrated. As the monthly exam approached, his stress built up day by day. One tired evening, after wasting plenty of time and failing to finish his homework smoothly because of the noise, he could no longer hold back his annoyance. He took up his pen and wrote a heartfelt letter to the principal (校长), earnestly requesting the school to clear away the bird nests so that students could study in peace. He mailed the letter with mixed feelings, not sure whether his request would be approved. In the following days, he waited anxiously, still troubled by the bird songs and unable to settle down. He tried hard to ignore the noise, yet his anger never faded away. He even felt a little disappointed, worrying that no one would notice his trouble. Several days later, the principal invited him for a walk. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Moved and enlightened, Tom followed the principal’s advice. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文: Several days later, the principal invited him for a walk. He walked side by side with Tom in the quiet campus garden. Noticing Tom’s gloomy expression, the principal asked how he had been getting along with his recent studies. Tom poured out his frustration about the constant bird chirps that ruined his concentration. The principal listened attentively and then patiently explained that all living creatures deserved respect, and true self-discipline lay in calming one’s mind against outer distractions. His gentle words and sincere communication slowly melted away Tom’s irritation and made him lost in thought. Moved and enlightened, Tom followed the principal’s advice. Tom no longer regarded the birds’ singing as annoying noise, but learned to embrace the beauty of natural sounds. Whenever he sat down to study, he trained himself to stay focused. Little by little, he regained peace and efficiency in his study. This small incident taught him a profound lesson: life is always filled with unavoidable troubles. Real growth does not mean escaping difficulties, but learning to be tolerant, adjust actively and seek inner balance, which would benefit him for a lifetime. 1】Noticing Tom’s gloomy expression, the principal asked how he had been getting along with his recent studies.(运用了how引导的宾语从句) 【高分句型2】Tom poured out his frustration about the constant bird chirps that ruined his concentration.(运用了that引导的定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 树德中学高2024级高三上学期9月阶段性测试英语试题 满分150分 考试时间120分钟 第一部分:听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段录音。 1. B Jokūbas, a seventeen-year-old climbing athlete from a small town in Lithuania, had spent three years seeking a single goal: qualifying for the Youth World Championships. C Imagine wandering through a dark forest for hours, then traveling all the way home — in a straight line. D The 21st century has created a whole range of new types of professionals that we have never had before — or if not quite new, at least newly repackaged. 12. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
