This week, the City of Westminster will start

They will be in the ground by the end of March,

shopping district, and dozens of tourist sites,is
the heart of London. If drivers know where the
empty spaces are, they won't have to search the
streets for one.
Other cities,most famously San Francisco,
have experimented with“smart parking”and
companies from France to America are developing
the technology. But San Francisco turned off its
sensors on 30 Dec.2013 and is now evaluating the
results of its program.Westminster is going at full
speed, fixing 50 sensors a day with a team of three
men.Boroughs in Manchester and Birmingham are
also trying out the system.
Each sensor in the ground detects when a
car is parked on the street above it.The
information is then sent to the public through a
smartphone app.
Westminster has 10,000 parking places that
visitors can use.The first part of the program will
see 3,000 sensors, each with a battery life of five
to seven years.
The list of benefits is long:Apart from
reducing traffic,fuel consumption,and emissions
from cars,it improves the local economy as people
spend more time in shops, restaurants and Offices
rather than on the street.
Fitsall says the information will finally be
fed into London's transport information network,
so when drivers look up how to get into town,
they'll be able to see driving and parking times just
as they can now get train journey times and
walking distances to stations. That could make
London a model for other cities.
1.Some sensors in Westminster which are put
into the streets will.
A.save drivers'time to search for parking spaces
B.attract more tourists to the City of West-
minster
C.make London the biggest shopping city in the

D.encourage foreigners to come to Westminster

2.Which city has stopped using"smart parking"

Daddy's Little Girl
“Will you tell Daddy for me?”
That was the worst part.At 17,telling my
mom I was pregnant was hard enough, but telling
my dad was impossible.Daddy had always been a
constant source of courage in my life.He had
always looked at me with pride, but now it would
all be shattered(粉碎).I would no longer be
Daddy's little girl.He would never look at me the
same way again.I heaved(发出)a defeated sigh
and leaned against my mom for comfort.
"I'll have to take you somewhere while I tell
your father.Do you understand why?"
"Yes,Mama."Because he wouldn't be able to
look at me,that's why.
I went to spend the evening with Brother Lu,
who was the only person I felt comfortable with at
that time.He hugged and comforted me,while
Mom went home and called my dad at work to
break the news.
It was all so unreal. At that time, being with
someone who didn't judge me was a good thing.
We prayed and talked, and I began to accept and
understand the road that lay ahead for me.Then I
saw the headlights in the window.
