W: Let me tell you all about an amazing Survival Weekend trip with my class. When the bus picked us up from the school gate at 6 in the morning, it was raining heavily, which wasn’t great. However, it hadn’t rained in the forest. That was important because we needed dry places for our first survival activity: building shelters. There were three leaders, each responsible for 10 students. After we were divided into three groups, we started collecting broken tree branches and leaves to build our shelters. Then we ate a light breakfast we had prepared at home. After breakfast, we learned how to build a fire safely. For lunch, we had hot dogs and potatoes cooked over the fire. After lunch, we put out the fire and got ready to look for food in the forest. Our leaders showed us which foods were safe. We returned late in the afternoon. Each group made their own campfire and learned to cook soup for supper over the fire with the things we had collected. It was delicious. We all enjoyed the trip.

(本题10分)I’m an immigrant from China, and I found that in Quebec I had to learn French, which was a totally strange language to me. After waiting for half a month, I received a letter from my school, St-luc, and began learning French in a welcome class, which is a class for new immigrants. Even though French was rather hard for me to speak and to understand, I began my secondary five studies the next year.
The first few days were terrible, especially the first class of the first day. Although I had been in St- Luc for one year, I still didn’t know much about the school. The first problem that I had was finding my classroom. Luckily, I met a girl who was in my French class and my chemistry class.
After the bell rang, the teacher, Mme. Zarif, began her class. First, she introduced herself to everyone and then gave us the course outline for the first year. During her class, everyone laughed many times. Although I could only understand a little bit, I could tell that she was very funny.
At the end of her speech, to make sure that we did not forget what we had learned in secondary four, Mme. Zarif gave us a paper with many symbols of elements on it and asked us to write their names in French. I was shocked when I received the paper. Honestly, the only symbol I knew was O. After having stared at the paper for a few minutes, I gave up and raised my hand. The teacher came, and I told her that I didn’t know anything.
“You have forgotten everything already?” she said in an astonished tone. “No,” I answered, “I have never learned them in French before. I am from the welcome class,” “Oh,” the teacher said with a look of understanding. “Come here after school. I will teach them to you.”
I agreed. Finally, I handed in the paper with only one answer on it. On the whole, my first day of secondary five was a little embarrassing but, at the same time, interesting.

(本题10分)It’s a rainy Tuesday morning in a primary school in Manchester, UK. Year 5 students aren’t sitting quietly at their desks — instead, they’re standing in a circle, voices rising as they role-play a scene from Hamlet. Their classmates lean forward, completely absorbed in the scene. This is the core of immersive (沉浸式的) drama-based learning.
A 2025 study published in the Journal of Educational Psychology explores how this approach transforms students’ academic and emotional development. Conducted by researchers at University College London (UCL), the six-month experiment tracked 500 Year 5 students across 45 UK primary schools.
Participants were divided into two groups: both groups analyzed an excerpt from Hamlet and completed a writing task from Hamlet’s perspective after leaving his country. However, the target group engaged in 30-minute drama workshops — including role-play, emotional mirroring, and line delivery exercises — before writing, while the control group directly worked on the assignment.
The findings revealed striking gaps between the two groups: the target group produced writing samples with 37% richer vocabulary, including subtle terms such as “anguish” and “desolation” instead of phrases like “I’m sad.” The findings further highlighted their superior (出众的) emotional depth, while control group students primarily drew on personal experiences of separation, the drama-integrated students demonstrated remarkable empathy, expressing Hamlet’s internal conflict with profound understanding.
The lead researcher Dr. Becky Francis said she had been impressed most by the emotional understanding in the children’s writing. “When students physically immerse themselves into a character’s emotions, they develop both linguistic precision and emotional literacy. Shakespeare’s works, with their vocabulary bank of over 20,000 words, provide the perfect linguistic playground — but it’s the active, dramatic engagement that turns passive reading into transformative learning,” she added.
Critics note challenges in resource-limited settings, but Francis emphasizes the model’s adaptability. Even simple role-play exercises can yield significant benefits when carried out consistently. This research provides evidence that creative teaching shouldn’t be excluded as “extra-curricular” — they’re fundamental to overall student development.
What was the decisive factor in the experiment?
A.Student age. B.Writing task.
C.Literary text. D.Pre-writing activity.
Why does the author mention anguish and desolation?
A.To create dramatic conflicts.
B.To illustrate vocabulary richness.
C.To reflect students’ true feelings.
D.To analyze complex emotional states.
What amazed Francis most about the target group’s writing?
A.Scene setting. B.Plot design. C.Emotional insight. D.Word precision.
What can be learned from the text?
A.Reading enriches life. B.Literature builds emotion.
C.Words mirror one’s mind. D.Learning by doing works best.
根据第三段中“However, the target group engaged in 30-minute drama workshops — including role-play, emotional mirroring, and line delivery exercises — before writing, while the control group directly worked on the assignment. (然而,目标组在写作前参加了30分钟的戏剧工作坊——包括角色扮演、情感镜像和台词练习——而对照组则直接完成作业。)”可知,实验中的决定性因素是写作前的活动。
29.推理判断题。根据第四段中“the target group produced writing samples with 37% richer vocabulary, including subtle terms such as “anguish” and “desolation” instead of phrases like “I’m sad.” (目标组写出的样本词汇丰富度高出37%,包括诸如“痛苦”和“荒凉”等细腻词汇,而非“我很难过”这样的短语)”可知,这两个词是细腻的,作者提到它们是为了说明词汇的丰富性。
30.细节理解题。根据第五段中“The lead researcher Dr. Becky Francis said she had been impressed most by the emotional understanding in the children’s writing. (首席研究员Becky Francis博士表示,孩子们写作中展现的情感理解力给她留下了最深刻的印象。)”可知,Francis对目标组写作最惊讶的是他们的情感洞察力。
31.推理判断题。通读全文,尤其是第五段中“but it’s the active, dramatic engagement that turns passive reading into transformative learning (但正是积极而富有戏剧性的参与,将被动阅读转化为具有变革性的学习)”和最后一段中“This research provides evidence that creative teaching shouldn’t be excluded as “extra-curricular” — they’re fundamental to overall student development. (这项研究提供了证据,证明创造性教学不应被视为“课外活动”——它们对学生全面发展至关重要。)”可知,文章主要围绕一项实验展开,该实验证明在写作前进行戏剧角色扮演等主动活动,能显著提升学生的词汇丰富度和情感理解力,说明在实践中学习,即通过戏剧表演主动参与,效果最好。
(本题10分)During World War II, people on some Pacific islands saw Allied airplanes land carrying food and tools called “cargo”. After the war ended and the planes stopped coming, some islanders created practices to try to bring them back. They built fake runways out of dirt, made wooden control towers, and wore coconut headphones, copying what soldiers did. They believed that if they copied these actions, the cargo planes would return. But the planes never came. In 1974, physicist Richard Feynman used this story to describe a problem in science, calling it “cargo cult science”.
According to Feynman, cargo cult science refers to practices that follow all the outward appearances and rigorous forms of scientific investigation — such as using precise statistics, writing formatted papers, and conducting experiments — but lack the essential core of scientific integrity. This missing core is a specific type of absolute honesty: a willingness to actively prove oneself wrong, publish failed results, and expose every potential flaw in one’s own theory. Without this deep intellectual honesty, all the complex technical machinery of research is just a meaningless performance, unable to produce true discovery.
Today, education experts say many students show a similar pattern, called “cargo cult learning”. Students may spend long hours highlighting books, working in stylish coffee shops, and using apps to track study time. They copy the visible habits of good students, creating the feeling of hard work. But these surface actions often hide weak real thinking. Simply making neat notes or doing many practice problems without deep thinking or learning from mistakes leads to little progress. They often feel productive, but the learning is shallow and quickly forgotten over time.
The main lesson is that success does not come from copying the outside forms of work True learning needs real understanding, which includes facing confusion, questioning ideas, and seeking clear understanding instead of only appearance. Real growth requires embracing difficulty, learning from errors, and focusing on understanding rather than performance or appearance itself fully.
Why did the islanders imitate what Allied soldiers had done?
A.They attempted to attract more tourists.
B.They wanted to resolve a scientific problem.
C.They tried to drive away foreign Allied soldiers.
D.They expected cargo planes to return with supplies.
What does the underlined word “rigorous” in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Strict. B.Casual. C.Simple. D.Flexible
Which of the following shows “cargo cult learning”?
A.Digesting knowledge after practice. B.Spending much time on fancy notes.
C.Thinking deeply while doing exercises. D.Learning lessons from previous mistakes.
What might be the best title of the text?
A.Growth and True Learning B.Cargo Cult Science and Fake Effort
C.The Great Physicist Feynman’s Theory D.The Follow-up Effect of World War II
【答案】32.D 33.A 34.B 35.B
根据第一段“They believed that if they copied these actions, the cargo planes would return. But the planes never came.(他们相信,如果复制这些行动,货机就会返回。但飞机却从未归来。)”可知,岛民模仿士兵是希望货运飞机带回物资。
33.词句猜测题。根据划线词后文“forms of scientific investigation — such as using precise statistics, writing formatted papers, and conducting experiments — but lack the essential core of scientific integrity(科学探究的形式——例如使用精确的统计数据、撰写格式化的论文、进行实验——但却缺乏科学诚信这一核心要素。)”
根据倒数第二段“Simply making neat notes or doing many practice problems without deep thinking or learning from mistakes leads to little progress. They often feel productive, but the learning is shallow and quickly forgotten over time.(仅仅做整洁的笔记或大量练习题,却缺乏深入思考和从错误中学习的能力,导致进步甚微。他们常常觉得自己很高效,但学习效果浅薄,随着时间推移很快就会被遗忘。)”可知,长时间专注于华丽的笔记体现了“货物崇拜式学习”。
35.主旨大意题。根据第一段“In 1974, physicist Richard Feynman used this story to describe a problem in science, calling it “cargo cult science”.(1974年,物理学家理查德·费曼用这个故事来描述科学领域存在的一个问题,称之为“货物崇拜科学”。)”
(本题12.5分)In my latest book, The Success Factor, I outline the four mindsets found in extreme high achievers. Many people wonder what sets top performers apart from ordinary ones.
Stay driven from inside
I have found that scientists are not driven by such motivators: promotions, diplomas or awards. If they were, those I interviewed would have quit doing science after winning a Nobel Prize. Instead, many leading scientists are still doing research long after they qualify for retirement. 37(2.5分) They simply love the process of discovery itself.
There are always challenges on the way to success. Most people easily give up when facing difficulties. However, the high achievers face them bravely and keep moving forward. Eventually, they fear not trying more than they fear failing. They work hard to “control what they can control”, and they don’t think over issues and challenges that are beyond their control.
Keep making progress
39(2.5分) What worked for them early on in their careers is what they continue with later. The scientists who have won a Nobel Prize are still designing experiments and writing papers to further their careers. They refuse to stand still even with great honors. They stick to their effective methods and keep moving toward higher goals.
Keep learning informally
Despite their advanced degrees and praise, the high achievers made a point of continuing their learning by reading books, articles and blogs, watching videos and talking to others. They never think they have learned enough and always stay hungry for new knowledge. 40(2.5分) In this way, they keep their knowledge up-to-date and their creativity fresh.
No one aims to be average in life. People want to succeed but often lack the understanding of how to achieve more. So learning from top scientists can guide us in our own life and work.
A.Persist and never give up.
B.Set up a strong foundation.
C.This book provides clear and practical answers.
D.High achievers do not rest on their achievements.
E.Reading widely is the only way to gain rich knowledge.
F.Their inner motivation keeps them devoted to their work.
G.They keep updating their knowledge and skills all the time.
【答案】36.C 37.F 38.A 39.D 40.G
由上文“In my latest book, The Success Factor, I outline the four mindsets found in extreme high achievers. Many people wonder what sets top performers apart from ordinary ones. (在我最新的书《成功因素》中,我概述了极高成就者身上的四种心态。许多人想知道是什么让顶尖表现者区别于普通人。)”可知,本空要说这本书提供了答案,C选项“This book provides clear and practical answers. (这本书提供了清晰而实用的答案。)”能承接上文,符合题意,该选项中的“This book”指代上文的“The Success Factor”,且该选项中的“clear and practical answers”与上文的“Many people wonder”相呼应,表示回应了人们的疑问,引出下文对四种心态的具体阐述。
37.由上文“I have found that scientists are not driven by such motivators: promotions, diplomas or awards. If they were, those I interviewed would have quit doing science after winning a Nobel Prize. Instead, many leading scientists are still doing research long after they qualify for retirement. (我发现科学家并非由晋升、文凭或奖项等动机驱动。如果是这样,我采访的那些人在获得诺贝尔奖后就会放弃科学研究。相反,许多顶尖科学家在符合退休资格后仍在继续研究。)”以及下文“They simply love the process of discovery itself. (他们只是热爱发现过程本身。)”可知,本空要说内在动机驱使他们投入工作,F选项“Their inner motivation keeps them devoted to their work. (他们的内在动机使他们专注于工作。)”能承上启下,符合题意,该选项中的“Their inner motivation”与上文的“not driven by such motivators: promotions, diplomas or awards”形成对比,表示外在奖励不是驱动力,内在热爱才是,且该选项中的“devoted to their work”与下文的“simply love the process”相呼应,表示内在动机让他们持续投入。
38.由下文“There are always challenges on the way to success. Most people easily give up when facing difficulties. However, the high achievers face them bravely and keep moving forward. (通往成功的路上总有挑战。大多数人面对困难时轻易放弃。然而,高成就者勇敢面对并继续前进。)”可知,本段主要讲坚持不懈、永不放弃,A选项“Persist and never give up. (坚持不懈,永不放弃。)”能引出下文,符合题意,该选项作为小标题,与上下文的“Stay driven from inside”和“Keep making progress”保持一致的祈使句结构,且该选项中的“Persist and never give up”与下文的“face them bravely and keep moving forward”和“fear not trying more than they fear failing”相呼应,表示本段主题是面对困难时的坚持。
39.由下文“What worked for them early on in their careers is what they continue with later. 【详解】56.考查非谓语动词。句意:一位72岁的老奶奶因其独特的视频将物理带给大众而在中文社交媒体上走红,并在此过程中吸引了超过一百万的粉丝。根据空前介词for可知,空处需用bring“带来”的动名词形式bringing作宾语。
57.考查固定搭配。句意同上。more than为固定搭配,意为“超过,多于”,故填than。

The school’s annual “Science Fair” was just a week away. Leo, a quiet and thoughtful boy, had a deep passion for robotics. For months, he had secretly been working on a project he called “Project GreenHand” — a small, solar-powered robot designed to help water the plants and check soil wetness in the school’s community garden. He believed it could make a real difference.
However, there was a problem. His best friend, Sam, was also entering the fair with a flashy drone (无人机) that could take overhead photos. Everyone thought Sam would win easily. When Sam saw Leo’s simple robot, he laughed. “Come on, Leo, that looks like a shoebox with wheels. Build something cooler.”
Leo felt his face burn with embarrassment. He looked down at his creation — it wasn’t beautiful, but every wire and sensor was placed with care. He remembered the hours spent studying solar energy and coding. However, comparing his plain robot to Sam’s high-tech drone, Leo realized a cruel truth: in a contest of “coolness”, practical use might not matter. If the judges found it boring, all his efforts would be a joke. Leo’s heart sank. Maybe Sam was right. Maybe his project was too simple to win.
The next day, Leo decided to give up. He put “Project GreenHand” in a box and pushed it to the back of his closet (壁橱). When the day of the fair arrived, Leo walked through the gym, feeling empty. He saw Sam’s drone flying high, attracting a crowd of cheering students. Just then, he noticed Mr. Green, a school gardener sitting alone on a bench near the garden, looking tired. Leo walked over. “Mr. Green, are you okay?” he asked. The old man sighed. “It’s just so much work, Leo. My back is hurting, and the garden is so big. I wish I had a helper.” A sudden thought struck Leo. He didn’t need a big fair to prove his idea was good. He needed to show it could help.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
Leo took out his robot and brought it straight to the garden.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Soon, the news of “Project GreenHand” spread across the school.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】(one possible version)
Leo took out his robot and brought it straight to the garden. He quickly switched on the robot, whose solar panels caught the sunlight and started to work steadily. Moving slowly and gently, the robot precisely checked soil wetness and watered the dry plants one by one. Seeing the simple robot do all the dull garden work, Mr. Green’s face broke into a bright smile. He sighed with relief, saying it was exactly the helper he had long wished for. A warm sense of pride filled Leo’s heart, making him realize the true value of his creation.
Soon, the news of “Project GreenHand” spread across the school. Crowds of students came to watch the practical robot work in the garden, and even Sam was astonished by its great performance. At the Science Fair, Leo didn’t win the first prize, but he won a special Community Impact Award. The headmaster spoke highly of his work, stating that the essence of science is solving real-life problems. Leo finally understood that cool high-tech devices are never superior to creations that bring warmth and convenience to life.

D.The help from Mme. Zarif in learning French

注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
Leo took out his robot and brought it straight to the garden.
