Have you ever found it difficult to understand a concept (概念)? Well, I find it much easier when I draw it out. Last week, my geography teacher gave us a lesson about the rotation(自转) and revolution (公转) of Earth. To understand the difference between them, I drew a picture. It's really clear, isn't it? Maybe you can have a try!

One of the best ways of remembering what I' ve learnt is to make picture stories. Experts say that our brain (大脑) works well with pictures. For example, to remind me of the word“playful”,Imade a picture story for it. In the cold Arctic, a PLAYFUL polar bear named Ben had an excellent skiing skill. The best part is that anyone can learn to do this. Let yourself be surprised by your memory!

You may study differently from your friends, but your study habits are not wrong!
Kelly and Maria are best friends with a lot in common. They love doing things together, such as going to the movies and concerts, shopping, or just sitting at a small cafe. Since they take a lot of the same school subjects, they would love to study together, but they find this impossible. Their study habits are so completely different that they can't be in the same room when they are studying!
Kelly would like to study in a clean, open space. Maria works best with books, papers and other things around her. Kelly likes to study in a totally tranquil room, but Maria loves to play music or even have the TV on. Kelly can sit for hours with-out moving, and often gets all her homework done in one sitting. Maria, however, is always getting around, and says that she thinks best when she's on the move.

You might be asking yourself: which way of studying gets better results? Many people think that a quiet, tidy environment is the way to go, ▲ . Some studies have even shown that outside noise and untidiness help some people focus their attention, because it makes them form a“wall” in their mind around what they are doing and improves their focus.
So, if you' re used to studying at a busy shopping centre, don't worry about it. If you work in total silence, that's OK too. According to Kelly's and Maria's study habits, we can know that the best way to study is the way that works for you. In their very different ways, both of them do well in school, and both finish their work on time as well.
( )63. Why are Kelly and Maria mentioned as an example in the text?
A. To discuss two different study habits.

D. To show the writer's worry about their friendship.
( )64. What may the word “tranquil” mean in the text?
A. Noisy. B. Clean. C. Quiet. D. Dirty.
( )65. Which of the following is the best to fill in ▲ ?
A. but that is not always true
B. and they have difficulty in their studies
C. and it can be true for most of them
D. but nobody does research on this question
( )66. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Both study habits mentioned in the text can help students improve their studies.
B. Students who like to study in silence will be more successful.
C. Only a small number of students can study well in a noisy situation.
D. Friends with different study habits can do better by studying together.
D
There are two questions. The first is very simple, and the second is difficult. Some people may want to try the first question, while others may prefer to try the difficult question because they want to learn something new.
Scientists believe that there are three zones of learning: the comfort zone, the learning zone, and the panic zone. With increasing difficulty and challenge, these three zones are usually described as a continuous condition, from the comfort zone inside to the learning zone and then to the panic zone. The comfort zone is where you think this knowledge is easy. The learning zone is where you want to learn something new. The panic zone is where you think this knowledge is too difficult and beyond(超出 ) your ability.
How can you put these three zones into your own learning? Firstly, if you feel a subject is too easy, try to push yourself further or pay attention to other subjects. Secondly, if you feel that a subject is too difficult, get over your fear and build confidence before finding ways to improve. Lastly, useful practice means doing things you can't do well rather than just finishing tasks. Record your mistakes and review them.
According to the study, when people leave their comfort zones and learn something new and difficult, they can discover stronger connections in their brains, which makes them smarter. That's why people can gradually improve their abilities in the
学科网(北京)股份有限公司
learning zone. Therefore, if you want to become a good learner, look for the learning zone, accept challenge and pay attention to the ways of learning.
( )67. Which student is in the learning zone?
A. Dave:“Solving maths problems is too hard. I don't like it.”
B. Jack:“I enjoy solving a little hard questions. It's interesting.”
C. Helen:“Though all subjects are important, they' re too difficult. I want to give up.”
D. Linda:“I enjoy solving easy physics problems for quick answers.”
( )68. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about?
A. The advantages of the three zones.
B. The ways to leave the comfort zone.
C. The reasons for knowing the three zones.
D. The practice of the three zones in learning.
( )69. What's the writer's purpose in writing this text?
A. To tell us to focus on the result of learning.
B. To describe some differences among three study areas.
C. To explain why the panic zone is not suitable for learning.
D. To encourage us to find the learning zone and challenge ourselves.
( )70. What's the best title for the text?
A. Avoid the Panic Zone B. Explore the Learning Zone
C. Build your Confidence D. Control the Comfort Zone

When most people graduate from high school or college, they usually think their education is complete. But in fact, it's important to continue learning after your school days are over.
Personally speaking, learning can be fun. It can give you something interesting to talk about. And it is good for your brain. Just as exercise makes your body stronger, your mind becomes sharper (敏锐的 ) when you use it. Being a lifelong learner can also help you with your work. Knowledge in other areas can help you develop ideas in your present job.
So how do you become a lifelong learner? First, you should stick to learning new things even when it isn't easy. It may help if you find friends who will encourage you to keep on learning. It's also a good idea to find time to learn in the day.Carry a book with you, and read it when you have to wait. Audio books are also helpful. You can listen to them while travelling or doing chores.
In addition, finding ways to use what you have learnt can help you remember things. If you want to learn how to fix appliances (修理家用电器), try fixing some at home. If you' re learning a foreign language, find someone who speaks that language to talk to. If you' re learning facts about science, explain what you' re learning to someone else. Then you can help that person be a lifelong learner too!

Online Learning Helps with My English Study
Hello everyone! I'm Li Hua. Online learning helps me a lot.
I usually watch English videos and use apps to practise listening. It is very convenient for me to study anytime. Besides, I can chat with foreign learners online to practise spoken English. In this way, I have made great progress and improved my speaking skills. I also take online English tests to check what I' ve learnt. However, we should use it in a proper way. I suggest we should limit screen time to protect our eyes. Also, we should choose useful materials. Let's make good use of online learning to study better.
That's all. Thanks for listening!
