(本题10分)My name is Li Liang. I grew up in a small village far from the town. Our village was surrounded by mountains, and a wide river ran between our village and my school. Thirty years ago, my friends and I had to cross this river to get to school. There was no bridge at that time, so we used a simple and narrow ropeway to go across the river. We held on to the rope tightly and pulled ourselves over the rushing water below. It was tiring and scary, but we had no other choice.
Thanks to the local government, the villagers’ dream has come true. There is a wide bridge over the river now. Moreover, the villagers now live in new buildings and work in factories in the town.
As for me, with the love and encouragement from kind people, I have had no fear on the way to my dream. Last year, I graduated from university. To answer the call of rural revitalization (乡村振兴), I chose to work as an engineer to help build my hometown along with some of my friends. In fact, thanks to the Chinese Dream, great changes have taken place all over China in the past few years. China has also made a lot of achievements such as 5G, high-speed railways, and the Beidou Navigation System.
Now our government is carrying out a lot of projects, such as urban-rural integration (城乡融合发展) and ecological tourism, to increase people’s income and improve their quality of life. More and more people are willing to return to their hometowns to do some meaningful things.
Where there are dreams, efforts and unity, there is a way. I believe that Chinese people will continue to pull together and work hard to achieve more in the future.

Old Customs, New Eyes
I grew up with a small home custom. Before the Spring Festival, my family pastes red couplets on the door.
As a child, I just held the brush. Later, I started translating the couplets into simple English. I learnt new words like “luck”, “harvest” and “reunion”. This custom taught me that old things are not boring—they are full of meaning if we look closely.
For smart learning, it shows me: connect textbooks with real life, and review words through things I already love. New eyes on old customs turn memory work into real understanding. That is why I never throw away the past while moving forward.
