Okay, so you started the thing. You push past procrastination. You even stayed focused. Look at you. go. And now you're halfway in and thinking, uh, do I really have to finish this? yes. Yes, you do. Let's talk about why we abandoned stuff halfway through and how to actually finish what you start even when the excitement has left the building. Okay, let's be real. The middle part of any project IT sucks. The shiny new idea feeling is gone. The end is nowhere in sight. And suddenly folding laundry sounds more thrilling than writing your third paragraph. Why does this happen? Reason one, boredom. brain. Your brain loves novelty new things, dopamine. So the moment something gets routine, your brains like, wait, what if we start another project with stickers? Reason to perfectionism. You hit a rough patch, and suddenly you think this isn't even that good. Maybe I should quit while i'm behind. Reason three, overwhelm you zoom out and realized how much is left and immediately feel like a pancake under a border. So what do we do? Let's fix IT. Tip one, shrink the finish line. Instead of thinking, I need to finish everything, break IT down again. Ask yourself, what's the next tiny step to move this forward? Not write the whole report, just finish one section, another and another chunking your work into mini winds keeps your brain feeling successful like a little progress. Goblin collecting gold stars. Tip two, use the ninety percent rule. If you're a perfectionist, listen up done is Better than perfect. Seriously, aim to finish to ninety percent, not one hundred percent, because most of the time chasing perfection just delays finishing forever. You can always tweet later, but first get IT done. Tip three, lock in a no quit zone. Decide ahead of time. I'm not allowed to quit in the middle. You can pause, you can rest, but you don't abandon ship unless you've really thought IT through. If you're bored, that's Normal. If it's hard, also Normal doesn't mean it's a bad idea, just means you're the the middle. Stick with IT tip for visual finish line. Remind yourself why you started this thing in the first place. Put a sticky note near your desk, make a vision board, set a reward for when you finish pizza, glory a nap, whatever works, the clear the finish line, the easier IT is to crawl or IT, even if your motivation died two weeks ago. Finishing isn't about being constantly motivated. It's about committing to show up, especially after the Sparkle phase. So here's your new model, start messy, stay steady, finish proud, even if the only thing cheering you on is your coffee mug. If this helped you hit like share IT with a friend who always leaves things have done and subscribe for more simple brain friendly to. And hey, if you haven't watched them yet, go check out the earlier videos on why we procrastinate, how to actually get started and how to stay focused. They'll seriously change everything for you. You got this.
So you've got a deadline, you've got the tools, you've got the time, and still you're doing everything except the thing you're supposed to be doing. why? Like, seriously, why are we like this? Why is IT suddenly so important to deep clean the toaster or organize your socks? Let's talk about IT because here's the truth. We don't procrastination. We're lazy. Nope, it's actually something way deeper. Procrastination isn't a time problem. It's an emotional problem. Science says that when we procrastinate avoiding the task, we're avoiding the feeling that comes with the task. Maybe it's fear of fAiling, maybe it's that, uh, this is way too much overwhelm. Maybe it's self doubt, or maybe it's just saw crushing boredom so your brain goes HMM. This task feels uncomfortable. You know what doesn't snacks or forty seven youtube shorts in a row? Boom, instant doping hit. You just dodged a negative feeling and rewarded yourself with a tiny, happy chemical. congratulations. You're not broken. You're just a human with a brain trying to protect itself from bad vibes. Here's what's actually happening inside your head. You've got two main players running the show. First, there's the prefrontal cortex. That's the logical, responsible part of your brain. It's like, let's focus. Let's get this done. We have goals. Then there's the limbic system, the total ler of your brain. And the limbic system goes work. No, thanks. Let's go watch raccoons wash grapes for an hour the prefrontal cortex cares about your future olympic system. IT cares about comfort right now so if a task feels hard, uncertain or awkward, the limbic system hits the panic button in yells, danger abort mission run to netflix. IT doesn't care about your to do list. IT just wants to feel safe and cozy. There's actually a name for this battle. Shout out to tiura ne. It's called the instant gratification monkey. This little monkey lives in your olympics system and lives for short term fun. IT will gladly drag you away from your responsibility, ie. S and into a rabbit hole of cat videos, oddly satisfying slime clipsed or reorganizing your entire closet by color. Meanwhile, your logical brain is just sitting in the corner like, but we said we'd be productive today. Here's a real life example. Last week, I needed to one email, one that's IT. Instead, I deep cleaned the toaster like I was expecting IT to reward me with a certificate or something. So look, if you procrastinate, not because you're lazy or broken or doom to fail, it's because your brain is trying to dodge discomfort and keep you safe, which is kind of sweet, but also super unhelpful when you actually have stuff to do. But don't worry, we're not stopping here. Now that you know why procrastination happens, the next step is learning how to outsmart that sneak limbic system and actually start even when you really, really don't feel like IT. So in the next video, i'll show you some sneaky science back ways to trick your brain into action. It's like hacking your own mind. You're gonna ve IT remember to hit that subscribe button, and i'll see you in the next video.
