M:Yeah,maybe that's true.But what about making a liv-
ing?
W:I'm not sure yet,but I think I want to be a teacher.
M:Well, are you doing anything now to help you prepare for
that?
W:Um,I'm a volunteer.On weekends there's a programme
where I read stories to little kids. It's fun,and it makes
me happy.
Text 8
W:Look at our room!It is in a dreadful mess.We must clean
it this weekend.
M:OK.
W:But before that,we should do some preparations first.
Could you please buy something after work tomorrow?
Such as cloth,alcohol,and...
M:Perhaps you'd better give me a list.I don't think I could
keep them all in mind.
W:OK.I will give you a list later.
M:By the way,I guess we have alcohol at home, which we
bought last month,remember?
W:Oh,yes,so we don't have to buy it now.
M:As for cloth,do you really need it?
W:Yes,it's used to clean the screen of the computer and the
mirror,of course. We should use special cloth.
M:I see.

M:Honey,I heard that an accident happened in front of the
Central Hospital building today.Do you know anything
about it?
W:Yes.Actually,I witnessed it.It happened at about twenty
past nine this morning.I had just left the hospital.
M:Could you tell me exactly what happened?
W:Sure.I was standing in front of the hospital and was
ready to cross the street when a black car was coming to-
wards me.The traffic lights on Lake Road changed to
green and a truck began to move forward at about 10 miles
an hour.
M:Did the car stop?
W:No.The driver of the car probably didn't see the traffic
light had changed from orange to red.
M:He was so careless.
W:Yes.I saw him talking on the phone when his car ran into
the side of the truck.
M:Did he get hurt?
W:Yes.But the truck driver was OK.

M:My name's Bob,and I've come to tell you about the York
Dance Band. Now,if you want to have a good family par-
ty,like a wedding or an important birthday, and you
want all your guests to dance after dinner, then don't
book a noisy disco.Have a live band instead. We play all
kinds of dance music, including songs that every age
group, from teenagers to grandmothers, can dance to.
·15
…录音原文
The band is made up of all sorts of different people-
none of us are full-time musicians.We have a doctor,two
English teachers,a retired journalist and the band leader
who owns a hotel. The band has been together for ten
years, but I only joined this year. Now the number has in-
creased from eight to twelve.I was looking for a band
to join, and a friend of mine saw an advertisement in the
local paper and persuaded me toapply. Before I joined.
the band didn't have a separate singer, but they realised
they needed one. They chose me because I've always
enjoyed getting up and singing in front of an audience, and
people say I've got a good voice.I'd been in bands
before.I even played the guitar rather badly in one,but
this band is easily the best.I even enjoy the practices.
Now,I'll just play a little.

M:Can you pass me the salt and pepper, please? My food
doesn't taste very good.It has no taste. How's yours?
W:It's OK.It's just a little hot.
Text 2
M:I'd like a chicken roll,an order of fries and a chocolate
shake.
W:For here or to go?
M:I'll eat here and here's 20 dollars.
Text 3
W:The food festival is fantastic.I like French food best.
How about you?
M:Oh,I'm in love with Greek food. It's tasty. But Indian
food is not my type.
Text 4
M:That food is delicious!
W:It took ages to come but yes, absolutely tasty.
M:It is a little expensive, but is a feast to our mouths.
Text 5
M:I was thinking about ordering some takeout.Do you want
to order a personal dish or share something bigger?
W:I'll just get a piece of beef and some vegetables.I had a
late lunch,so I don't have much of an appetite
right now.
Text 6
W:Oh,Mike, how long will it take us to get to the park?
You said it was close, but we've been walking for
50 minutes.
M:That's because we went the wrong way.Look! There is a
restaurant across the road. How about having a rest
in it?
W:That's great!

M:Oh,I remember.I've been to this restaurant with my
father before.
W:Really?How does the food taste?
M:Not bad.The chocolate cake is very popular. But we
didn't eat.You know,my father doesn't like sweet
food.So we had fish soup and vegetable salad last time.
W:Maybe we can try it this time.
Text 7
M:You know,Cathy,my life is full of missed opportuni-
ties. Can you pass me the fries?
W:Sure...What do you mean by that,Andrew?
M:Well,for example...This morning,I was just 10 sec-
onds late and missed the train.I had to go back up on
the street and catch a taxi.I ended up spending $20 to
get to work. Are you going to eat that last slice of piz-
za?0
W:No...you can have it...Well,you only missed the
train once.
M:It's not only that.When I got to work,I was already 30
minutes late.By the time I got up to the conference
room on the 40th floor,my morning meeting was over.
My co-worker Paul got promoted instead of me.Hey,
do you plan to finish that piece of apple pie?
W:It's yours.Well,you certainly don't miss an opportunity
when food is involved!
Text 8
W:The water supply of our building has been cut off.I
haven't stored any water for cooking today.
M:Then are you up for a restaurant meal tonight?
W:I guess we have no choice but to eat out.We could go to
the Mexican restaurant around the corner of our street.
M:I'd like to try something different this time.
W:Then we can go the Italian restaurant or the French res-
taurant.
M:I prefer the latter.
W:It's fine with me.The restaurant is a bit far. Will we
drive or take a taxi there?
M:Well,we've been a couch potato recently.I would rather
ride shared bikes all the way there.
W:OK,it's up to you.

M:Welcome to today's program. We have Lisa Gaye with
us.Good morning,Lisa.
W:Morning,everyone!
M:Your Food Exchange really takes our town by storm
these days,Lisa.About 1,000 people in town have
joined it.Where did you get this brilliant idea?
W:Well,my neighbor has plenty of vegetables in her back-
yard. She often shares them with me,or they may go
bad. So,I came up with the idea of starting a food ex-
change. In this way, people can share food with each oth-
er.No food will go to waste.
·15
M:Nice one! We've heard that the Food Exchange was built
by the roadside,right?
W:Yeah.Actually,it's just a simple wooden stand.Peo-
ple bring their home-grown vegetables and fruits there
and take home what they want. And they're expected to
post a video or some photos on their social media. Thus,
others know what has been added or taken.
M:What about those people who don't grow anything?
W:Ha-ha,I'm one of those people.I usually take some fresh
fruit,jam or dried vegetables there.
Text 10
M:Good morning, everyone.Welcome back to our program
“My Story”.Today, let me share you a story of a
birthday party written by an eight-year-old boy named
Tom.He wrote like this:
"When I got up in the morning, nobody came to wish me
a happy birthday. In the kitchen, there was no special
breakfast waiting for me.Not even a single card or pres-
ent was in sight.I felt so down. And my mother even
sent me out to buy some vegetables for her. When I
came back and opened the door, however,my whole
family and all my friends were there. They all shouted,
‘Surprise!Happy birthday!'The previously empty
dining table was now covered with delicious foods such
as fried chicken wings, meatballs, and fruits, and there
were many presents in the room.My mother took out a
large cake she made in person,on which were eight can-
dles. Then everybody began to sing the 'Happy Birthday'
song to me.My father was happily recording a video, and
my best friend Victor was taking pictures.I was crying
with joy.I'm really grateful for what they've done.
Thanks,my family and friends.
That's all for today.See you next time!
