As time went by, the stone monkey learned to walk, run and climb. He drank from streams (小溪) and ate fruits and leaves from the trees. He became friends with all the other monkeys. At night, he slept under a cliff (悬崖).
One very hot morning, all the monkeys were playing in the shade. “It is so hot today!” cried one monkey. “Let’s play in the stream.” “Good idea.” said another monkey. Then the monkeys ran to the stream, where the water rolled over the rocks.
The monkeys jumped into the cool water. After a few minutes, one monkey scratched her head. “We all love this stream. We know that it flows all the way to the ocean. But does anyone know where the stream begins?” They all looked at one another and shook their heads.
“We have nothing to do today,” the monkey continued. “Why don’t we follow the stream to find its source?” “That sounds fun,” said another monkey. “Let’s go!” said a third monkey.
Everyone jumped out of the water. They jumped over rocks and climbed up steep cliffs. They went up higher and higher until they reached a waterfall.
The water ran down too quickly. Nobody dared to jump through it. “I wonder what’s behind that waterfall,” said an old monkey. “Whoever can jump through it and come back alive will be our king. Anyone wants to have a try?” All the monkeys looked at one another and shook their heads.
And then a voice called out aloud, “I’ll do it!” Everyone moved out of the way as the speaker stepped forward. It was the stone monkey.
“Are you sure?” asked the old monkey. “It looks dangerous.”
The stone monkey laughed, “I’m not afraid of anything! When I come back, I will be the king!” The stone monkey took a deep breath and jumped into the waterfall.

People are talking a lot about artificial intelligence (AI). Many see it as a powerful force that may change our society. But something important is often missed in these talks. We not only need to think about how AI will change us, but also how we shape AI and what it says about us.
Every AI system we build follows our rules and shows our values. A few years ago, a famous company stopped using an AI tool for hiring because it was unfair to women. The AI wasn’t designed to be unfair—it learned from old data that favored men. Similarly, a recent study found that some loan algorithms (贷款算法) give worse offers to people of color, making existing unfairness in lending even worse. In both cases, AI doesn’t create new biases—it shows the ones we already have.
These examples give us a chance to look closely at ourselves. By making these problems more visible, AI pushes us to recognize and fix them. As AI keeps developing, we should all think about how we want it to be used in society. We shouldn’t only improve AI systems—we must also make sure they are used in the right way.
Some companies are already acting. They are checking the data, rules, and values that guide AI. But we can’t leave everything to companies. As long as AI learns from human data, it will act like humans. ▲ . For example, if I say I care about privacy but quickly give it up to visit a website, AI may think I don’t really value it. If I want real friendships but spend more time online than with friends, AI learns that this is what people do.
As AI grows stronger, we must match our actions to our values. We can make better choices—but only if we are brave enough to look closely and take responsibility for what we see.
32. Why does the writer introduce the two examples in Paragraph 2?
A. To suggest a solution. B. To support an opinion.
C. To tell a difference. D. To start a conversation.
33. According to the passage, what should we do if we want real friendships?
A. We should spend more time on social media.
B. We should spend more time with our friends in person.
C. We should teach AI how to make more friends for us.
D. We should ask companies to create better social apps.
34. Which of the following can be put in ▲ .
A. That means we must think about what our actions teach AI.
B. So companies should be more careful with the data they use.
C. This is why AI is becoming more and more important in our lives.
D. For example, it can help us make fairer decisions in many areas.
35. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Companies can solve all the problems of AI by themselves.
B. Our own actions can influence how AI models learn and behave.
C. AI will soon become more intelligent than humans.
D. The problems with AI will disappear as technology improves.

B 33. B 34. A 35. B
根据第二段“Every AI system we build follows our rules and shows our values… In both cases, AI doesn’t create new biases—it shows the ones we already have.”
根据第四段“If I want real friendships but spend more time online than with friends, AI learns that this is what people do.”
根据第四段“As long as AI learns from human data, it will act like humans… For example, if I say I care about privacy but quickly give it up…”
根据第一段“how we shape AI and what it says about us”及第五段“We can make better choices—but only if we are brave enough to look closely and take responsibility for what we see.”
