三、阅读理解
After years of research and public discussion, Apple finally put out its first foldable(可折叠的)smartphone, the iPhone Duo. It is the biggest and most creative change of iPhone design in almost 20 years. Different from common iPhones that have fixed screens, this new phone has a special bendable(可弯曲的)structure. It can switch between a small phone screen and a large tablet(平板)screen when users fold or open it.
The iPhone Duo is fitted with two clear and smooth screens. The outer screen is 5.4 inches, which is enough for people's daily use, such as sending messages, making calls and browsing online information. When users fully open the phone, a 7.6-inch inner screen will show up. This screen is almost the same size as an iPad mini, so it offers a wider view for watching videos and reading online articles. One of the biggest advantages of the inner screen is its multi-window function(功能).This useful design allows users to run two different
apps at the same time and avoids the trouble of switching pages frequently.
To make the new phone stronger and more long-lasting, Apple used high-quality metal frames and special waterproof and dustproof materials. Compared with other early foldable phones on the market, the iPhone Duo is much more durable(耐用的) in daily use. However, in order to fit its thin folding body, Apple gave up the
traditional Face ID system which has been used on iPhones for a long time. Instead, it added a hidden Touch ID button on the side of the phone to make unlocking safe and easy.
The new iPhone Duo has attracted lots of users' attention because of its new design and good performance(性能). But it has a very high starting price of 1999 US dollars. Over the past few years, Samsung and Huawei have held the dominant position in the foldable phone market. Children need to help with housework at home. However, some children don't enjoy doing it. Hazel,Jono and Charlie disliked doing housework. The children's mum had a good idea: She cut hard, colourful paper with scissors and glued the paper together. She wrote different housework and children's names on the paper. A housework wheel was born. Every week, the children rotated(转动)the wheel and did the jobs next to their names.
Now, after several weeks, the family is seeing some good results. The kids enjoy rotating the housework wheel and doing housework. And their parents often listen to their ideas to help improve their work. For example, when Hazel was doing the dishes, she noticed the washing gloves were too big for her and that the water kept getting inside the gloves. She told her parents that she wanted to buy a smaller pair of gloves. And they agreed to add that to the shopping list. The next time, her family went shopping and she chose a pair of blue washing gloves. Now, she looks forward to doing the dishes because she can use her new gloves. And she is careful with them.
The children now are familiar with different housework. They even sort their housework tools neatly on the balcony now-everything is in order and fun. After cleaning up the kitchen or tidying the living room, they feel happy and proud of themselves. Sometimes they even invite their mum to join their housework games. They often share funny housework stories with each other during dinner. All the family members feel closer to each other. The family say they'll keep using the housework wheel.
