Before you start writing, you must know exactly how much time you have to finish the writing. So make sure that you have a watch or can see a clock in the exam.

●Writing—fifteen minutes. With a clear plan in mind, I can write smoothly (顺利地). I’ll use proper words and sentences to express my ideas, and try to make my writing lively and attractive.

Passage 2
(25-26八上·江西新余第四中学·期中)
More Tech, Less Work?
Do you always have enough time to relax yourself? Are the adults around you all busy with something? In modern life, everyone is as busy as a bee, but why is that?
Let’s do a simple thought experiment. Imagine yourself as a busy office worker. Now, picture having a magical set of technologies. It could make your job easier. What would you do with your extra time?
Well, you would probably work the same amount of time as before, or even more. You have doubts about this, don’t you? But it often happened in people’s life—not in factories or offices, but in homes.
With the development of modern technology, many new appliances were invented to save people time and effort. Dishwashers and electric irons (熨斗) made their way into more and more homes. Each of them could have saved hours of work, but none of them did. Full-time housewives spent more hours doing housework after high-tech was brought into their homes.
This may seem surprising, but the reasons are simple. Better technology leads to higher expectations, and higher expectations create more work. Take laundry for example. Before modern technology, most people washed their clothes only twice a year. Washing machines changed that. People began washing their clothes more often. And because it was easier to do the laundry, people bought more shirts and pants. As a result, housewives found themselves washing, drying and folding a lot more clothes.
Besides, technology has indeed reduced the time it takes to cook a meal or wash a shirt. But it has also freed up time for other household duties, especially childcare.
What does all this tell us about modern life? Modern technology brings us a lot of comfort and convenience, but it also makes us even busier. So the problem is…
1.The writer starts the passage by ________.
A. giving an example

C. The habit of washing clothes.
D. Buying more clothes.
3.The underlined word “reduced” in paragraph 6 means ________.
A. making something more
B. making something less

A. How does technology better our life?
B. What kind of expectations do we have?
C. How often do people do laundry?
D. Why do we have more work?
5.What would the writer write about after the last paragraph?
A. What kind of special roles do technology play?

(25-26八上·江西景德镇二中·期中)Have you seen an apple tree when it has flowers? They are light pink at first and then turn white. They make the air smell sweet, just like honey. Apple trees do this on purpose because they need bees. The sweet smell brings bees to them.
Bees are a bit choosy. They don’t like flying when it’s cold outside. Windy or rainy weather also stops them from going out. Apple farmers know their apples need bees. So, every spring, they buy bees and let them fly freely. Usually, they put one honeycomb for each acre (英亩) of the orchard (果园).
When the weather is nice, bees start their job. They go to apple flowers to get nectar (花蜜). While getting nectar, their wings touch the pollen. When they fly to another flower, they carry the pollen and help the flower get pollinated. Sometimes, a bee might use pollen from one kind of apple tree on another kind. That’s why a Red Delicious apple seed (种子) might not grow into a Red Delicious tree.
Farmers use a way called grafting (嫁接) to get the right apple trees. They take a small branch from a parent tree and connect it to a young tree. The two trees grow together. This way, there are many kinds of apples in the world. Next time you eat an apple, think about how bees and farmers help make it taste so good.

(25-26八上·江西景德镇二中·期中)Do you find that your dinners with your parents are less happy than before? Do you find it easier to chat with them in the past? Do you and your parents often disagree on things? You’re not alone. Many kids and their parents have such experiences.
When you’re growing up, your body changes a lot. You might worry about getting taller or heavier than your friends, or about your voice changing or getting spots on your face. When you feel worried, you might get angry at your parents sometimes.
It’s also hard to balance (平衡) your feelings as you grow up. You get into a strange time called middle ground—no longer a small child but not quite an adult (成人). You want to do things by yourself more, but you still need your parents’ love and help. You want to make decisions by yourself, but your parents might not always agree. This can make you feel sad.
But don’t worry too much about arguments with your parents. Many kids have them too. The most important thing is to talk to your parents. Tell them how you feel, even if it’s hard. They might not agree with you right away, but if you keep talking and listening to each other, you can find a way to make things better.
Remember, your parents love you and want to help you. Sometimes they forget how hard it is to grow up. But if you keep talking and trying to understand each other, you can work things out.
So keep trying, and you’ll find that you and your parents can get along well.

(25-26八上·江西新余第一中学·期中)Friends play an important part in our lives. Teenager Centre did a survey on “What do you think the most important thing about a friendship is?” 360 teenagers took part in the survey. The following is the result. Dr Allen wrote a report about it. Let’s read it together.
Honesty is where a good friendship starts. You must tell true feelings to your friends. Keep their secrets to yourself and never break promises, or you may lose your friends. Understanding can be valuable to a friend. Everyone needs understanding and help with a problem. Talking about the problem can make it easier to solve. You must try to put yourself in your friend’s place, so you can understand the problem better.
No two friendships are ever exactly alike (相像的) . But all true friendships may have some things in common. In fact, good friendships will just not easily last. Passage 1
(25-26八上·江西九江第一中学·期中)Paper is one of the most important products ever invented by man. The invention (发明) of paper means that more people can get a better education because people can print more books. Paper provides an important way to spread (传播) information.
According to Chinese historical records, Cai Lun, an official during the Han Dynasty, improved the papermaking method in about AD 105. He took the inner bark of a tree, rag and some other things, mixed them with water, and pounded them with wooden tools. He threw out this mixture onto a piece of cloth and let the water run through, leaving only the fibers (纤维) on the cloth. After they dried, Cai Lun discovered that he had created (制造) a good writing thing. It was easy to make and take.

A. What kind of special roles do technology play?
