Well, it wasn’t long before I wished I had stayed on land! After only a few hours at sea, rain fell and the wind howled. The waves tossed the ship around like a toy.
“Are you all right, Robinson?” Tom had to shout to be heard in the terrible wind. “No. I think I’m going to be sick,” I cried. I had never had sea-sickness before, and I was miserable. “It’s a punishment from God. I never should have disobeyed father,” I thought as I felt sicker and sicker.
The weather got worse. The wind blew and thunder and lightning struck the water. I felt sure we were all going to die. “Please, God,” I prayed. “If you save me, I will go home to York, and work hard at business with my father. I’ll never step onto a ship again!”
Fortunately, the storm soon ended. Evening came, and the stars shone brightly in a clear sky. The wind stopped and the water became calm. I slept deeply. The next morning, it was a beautiful day. The water was a sparkling blue and the sun shone.
As we sailed into the south, I forgot all about my fear of the storm.
I stood on the ship and watched the English coast pass us by, and I felt all the world was mine. I could go anywhere and do anything!
Tom and I became friends with the rest of the men and one of them offered us some rum. It wasn’t long before we wanted another drink, then another. Soon we were all happily drunk and singing sea songs.
A few days later we were near the English city of Yarmouth. Looking at the clouds in the sky, we saw that we were heading into another storm, but I wasn’t afraid. But this storm made the storm I saw on my first day at sea look like a soft gentle rain.
26. According to first four paragraphs, which saying can best express Robinson’s situation?
A. The good seaman is known in bad weather.
B. After a storm comes a calm.
C. Good advice is beyond price.
D. He who doesn’t listen to the old suffers in front of him.
27. Why did Robinson think the storm was a “punishment from God”?
A. Because he felt quiet sick. B. Because he didn’t listen to his father.
C. Because the storm meant God’s anger. D. Because he failed in business.
28. The underlined sentence “But this storm made the storm I saw on my first day at sea look like a soft gentle rain” implies (暗示)________.
A. Robinson was brave enough to face another storm
B. Robinson was ready to take on the following challenges

The AI time has started. People are using AI chatbots (聊天机器人) for almost any purpose. If you don’t know AI chatbot well, now is the best time to catch up.
AI chatbots are chatbots that use AI to reply to your messages. They are powered by “generative AI”. The difference between generative AI and “old” AI technologies is that, generative AI can create information right away.
Generative AI models are trained on billions of books, articles, and websites. With that huge amount of knowledge and information, the AI chatbots are able to learn the patterns and rules of human language, including grammar, sentence structure, and even some reasoning abilities.
AI chatbots can understand patterns and relationships between words and phrases. When you give it a question or instruction, it’ll provide the most likely order of words that would follow your message. That’s why the clearer your question or instruction is, the more useful the chatbot’s answers will be.
People are using AI chatbots for almost any purpose. For example, they can help with many kinds of creative work. They can help you write or rewrite poems, songs, or stories, and help you fix any mistakes you might need to correct in something you wrote. Some chatbots can also help you search for things on the Internet and find the exact answers you need. If a chatbot doesn’t have the ability to search some certain information, it can still make the information you’ve given it easier to read and understand.
However, it’s important to know that chatbots can and often make mistakes. If you solve a math problem by using a chatbot, don’t hand it in as your homework—there’s a very high chance that it’s wrong. Also, text created by a chatbot has a clear “AI” style. It might cause you to get a “0” on your paper. You should never use the chatbot’s final result directly. Instead, chatbots are here to guide you and maybe help you a bit by giving you steps or feedback, but you still need to put in human work.
37. How can we get helpful answers from AI chatbots?
A. By learning rules of language. B. By asking questions in a right way.
C. By reading more books and articles. D. By following instruction from generative AI.
38. According to the passage, what can AI chatbots do for us?
A. Correct mistakes in our writings. B. Search any information we need.
C. Complete homework instead of us. D. Finish math tests without checking.
39. Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage? (①=paragraph 1)
A. B. C. D.
40. What’s the purpose of the passage?

Last week, Li Hua ________ ________ to join in a travel quiz show at school.
【答案】 ①. was ②. invited
故填was;invited。
He made up a team with three classmates. It ________ ________ ________ ________ to have this chance.
made ②.
them ③.
very ④.
excited
At first, they worked ________ ________ ________ they kept giving the ________ answers.
so ②.
well ③.
that ④.
correct
用so…that… 所以填so;well;that;correct。
But when it came to the last one, they didn’t know ________ ________ ________ ________.
how ②.
to ③.
answer ④.
it
“回答”英文为answer,“它”是it,故填how;to;answer;it。
They didn’t win, but they tried their best. ________ ________ the experience was!
How ②. wonderful
故填How;wonderful。

A. The good seaman is known in bad weather.
B. After a storm comes a calm.

C. Because the storm meant God’s anger. D. Because he failed in business.
28. The underlined sentence “But this storm made the storm I saw on my first day at sea look like a soft gentle rain” implies (暗示)________.

B. Robinson was ready to take on the following challenges
C. the first storm wasn’t terrible at all
D. the next storm was much more terrible than the last one

In 1271, Marco Polo left Venice with his father and uncle and set out for Asia. The purpose of their trip was to meet with Kublai Khan who ruled a large part of Asia. On their way to meet the king at his palace in China, they traveled through much of the Middle East and Central Asia. In 1275, they finally arrived at the palace of Kublai Khan. Kublai Khan liked Marco Polo so much that he wanted Marco Polo to work for him. So, the king sent Marco Polo to different places in China, India and Burma. Marco Polo stayed in China with Kublai Khan for 17 years. He observed and recorded everything in detail during his journeys. Over that time, he collected many jewels and lots of gold. Marco saw paper made by the Chinese. People in China had also discovered how to paint on paper. They had many books and even used paper money!
Marco Polo returned to Venice with his father and uncle in 1295. People often went to Marco Polo’s home to hear stories about his travels. He became a great storyteller. Marco Polo was famous as “the man with a million stories”. He later met a writer who was crazy about his stories. The writer liked them so much that he wrote a book about Marco Polo’s travels.

A. To sell a newly developed AI product.
B. To teach people how to create AI chatbots.
C. To help people know better about AI chatbots.
D. To ask people not to depend too much on AI products.
