Passage 1
(25-26高一上·浙江金砖高中联盟-11月·期中)At 40, actor Hou Xiang still plays the role of child on screen. His body, frozen in time since age 9, stands at 1.3 meters tall with a childlike face — a result of premature birth complications that damaged his hormone (激素) system, as diagnosed by doctors. Tears flowed for his mother, but young Hou Xiang still believed that he’d catch up with peers someday.
Life is cruel. While classmates grew taller and taller, he remained small. At 15, friends towered over him; at 18, entering art school, he was mistaken by his roommates for a lost child looking for parents. He was forced to declare, “I’m a freshman too,” with his voice carrying unspoken frustration. At 19, playing the role of “Huang Feihong” in the Home with Kids made him famous — a role that brought joy yet bittersweet awareness: directors valued him only for his “childlike” appearance, not his adulthood.
Life off-screen proved harder. Romantic expectations faltered (动摇) when his girlfriend’s parents asked, “How old is this child?” Post-marriage, strangers said, “That’s her son.” While someone online laughed at their “mismatched” union, his wife’s steadfast reply — “I love the person, not the appearance” — became his beacon. Hou Xiang states, “Being cast means I’m still useful.”
Hou Xiang has proven through four decades that life has no fixed pattern. When he declares “I can” before the camera, and when his wife melts prejudice (偏见) with love, they both show us respect for difference. This mirror reflects how we should regard others’ choices — not with a single standard, but with the understanding that each life writes its own answer.
1.What caused Hou Xiang to keep a childlike appearance even at the age of 40?
A. A genetic disease from his parents.
B. An accident during his childhood.
C. A lack of nutrition when he was young.
D. Birth complications damaging his hormone system.
2.What mainly limited Hou's on-screen roles?
A. His lack of professional training.
B. His unique physical appearance.
C. His preference for certain characters.
D. His unwillingness to grow up.
3.What challenge did Hou Xiang face in his real life?
A. Strangers mistook him for his wife's son.
B. His parents were strongly against his marriage.
C. His wife regretted marrying him after a few years.
D. He couldn't find a girlfriend because of his appearance.
4.What message does Hou Xiang's story mainly convey?
A. Blood is thicker than water.
B. Actions speak louder than words.
C. Don't put all eggs in one basket.
D. Every living soul has its unique spark.
【答案】1. D 2. B 3. A 4. D

本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了40岁演员侯祥因出生并发症导致外貌停留在孩童时期,虽面临诸多挑战仍坚持演艺事业,诠释生命独特价值的故事。
(1)题解析:
细节理解题。根据第一段中的“His body, frozen in time since age 9, stands at 1.3 meters tall with a childlike face — a result of premature birth complications that damaged his hormone (激素) system, as diagnosed by doctors.(经医生诊断,由于早产并发症损害了他的激素系统,他的身体从9岁起就定格了,身高1.3米,面容稚气)”可知,侯祥40岁仍保持孩童外貌的原因是早产并发症损害了他的激素系统。故选D项。
(2)题解析:
细节理解题。根据第二段中的“At 19, playing the role of “Huang Feihong” in the Home with Kids made him famous — a role that brought joy yet bittersweet awareness: directors valued him only for his “childlike” appearance, not his adulthood.(19岁时,他在《家有儿女》中饰演“黄飞鸿”一角,这让他一举成名——这个角色带来了快乐,也带来了苦涩的认知:导演们只看重他“孩童般”的外表,而非他的成年身份)”可知,限制侯祥银幕角色的主要因素是他独特的外貌,只能出演孩童类角色。故选B项。
(3)题解析:
细节理解题。根据第三段中的“Post-marriage, strangers said, “That’s her son.”(结婚后,陌生人会说:“那是她的儿子。”)”可知,侯祥在现实生活中面临的挑战是陌生人误将他当作妻子的儿子。故选A项。
(4)题解析:
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是最后一段中的“Hou Xiang has proven through four decades that life has no fixed pattern. When he declares “I can” before the camera, and when his wife melts prejudice (偏见) with love, they both show us respect for difference. This mirror reflects how we should regard others’ choices — not with a single standard, but with the understanding that each life writes its own answer.(侯祥用四十年的人生证明,生活没有固定的模式。当他在镜头前宣称 “我能行”,当他的妻子用爱消融偏见时,两人都向我们展现了对差异的尊重。这面镜子映照出我们应如何看待他人的选择—— 不应以单一标准衡量,而应理解每个生命都在书写属于自己的答案)”可知,侯祥的故事主要传达“每个生命都有其独特光芒”的道理,即使面临身体局限,也能活出自身价值。故选D项。
Passage 2
(25-26高一上·浙江浙里特色联盟-11月·期中)When I was ten, my family moved to the other side of town. I was forced to leave the familiarity of St Paul’s and become “the new kid” at St Teresa’s, where the other kids in my class had been together since kindergarten. I struggled to break into the crowd and spent lunchtime playing alone.
One school day, when I headed to the kitchen table, I heard the radio, “It’s a sad day in the music world. Mr Roy Orbison has died.” Oh no, how sad, Roy Orbison has died. Wait... who is Roy Orbison?
I didn’t have a chance to ask. I had to get to school before the bell.
It was Mr Honig’s class. Every day, he would ask if there was anyone we wanted to pray (祈祷) for. That day, Byron prayed for his sick grandmother, and Emma for her grandfather who had a surgery.
This was my chance. Before I had time to fully think it through, my hand shot into the air. “I’d like to pray for Roy Orbison!”
Silence fell over the room. The other kids looked confused, but Mr Honig could see the eagerness in my eyes. No one else had ever been so excited to pray for anyone in his class.
“OK, Roy Orbison has been added to the prayer list.” He winked (眨眼).
I did it! This must be another way we kids make new friends: you just pray for someone.
I had never met Roy Orbison, nor did I have his album. But because of Roy, a little girl named Christine came up to me and said, “I’m really sorry for your loss. If you’re not busy with the funeral (葬礼), maybe you can come over and play after school.”
Thanks to Roy and Christine, I was lonely no more.
1.Why did the author pray for Roy Orbison?
A. She felt sorry for his death.
B. She was a fan of Roy Orbison.
C. She wanted to please other kids.
D. She needed a reason to be noticed
2.What happened after the author prayed for Roy Orbison?
A. The teacher felt sad as she did.
B. She made new friends at St Teresa’s.
C. She became popular at the new school again.
D. The whole class began to enjoy Roy’s music.
3.What is the tone of the text?
A. Excited. B. Anxious. C. Humorous. D. Disappointed.
4.Which of the following can best describe the text?
A. Actions speak louder than words.
B. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
C. Life is full of unexpected wonders.
D. Where there is a will, there is a way.
【答案】1. D 2. B 3. C 4. C

(25-26高一上·浙江七彩阳光·期中)In a small coastal town, 16-year-old Daniel Perez was tired of seeing plastic bottles and trash littering his favorite beach. He knew that the problem was growing, but instead of just complaining, he decided to do something about it. Inspired by a school science project, Daniel spent months working in his garage, using old parts and tools to build what he hoped would be a solution. He called his invention the “Ocean Filter”.
Daniel’s device is a simple but clever machine that floats on the surface of the water. It uses a solar- powered motor to slowly move around and a net to collect plastic waste, like bottles, bags, and pieces of fishing nets. The machine is designed to be harmless to marine life; the slow speed and a special sensor prevent it from hurting any animals. Once the net is full, the device automatically sends a signal to Daniel’s phone, and he goes to empty it.
The project began as a personal mission, but soon attracted the attention of his teachers and local media. “I just wanted to clean up my beach,” Daniel told a reporter. “I never imagined it would grow into something so big.” With the help of his school’s science club and a local engineering company, he was able to improve his invention to make it more efficient and durable. His story quickly spread on social media, inspiring other students to organize their own beach cleanup events.
Daniel’s project proves that great ideas can come from anyone, regardless of age. His work has not only helped clean up his community but has also shown that technology and personal determination can make a real difference in the fight against pollution. For Daniel, the work is far from over. He dreams of building more Ocean filters and seeing them in rivers and oceans around the world, which makes our planet a cleaner place for everyone.

(25-26高一上·浙江七彩阳光·期中)I had always thought of my father as a distant figure, a man of few words. Every day when he came home from work, he would simply pat my head and ask, “How was school?” before walking into his study. I thought he didn’t care much about me until that rainy afternoon.
It was a typical rainy day in autumn. The rain was falling heavily when school ended. I stood under the awning of the school gate, watching my classmates disappearing under shared umbrellas. Just as I decided to run home in the rain, I saw a familiar figure holding an umbrella near the gate. It was my father! “I finished work early today.” he stated simply. On our way home, he held the umbrella mostly over me. I noticed his left shoulder was completely wet.
That evening, he overheard my mother’s concerned voice: “You shouldn’t have waited outside her school for forty minutes! You’re developing a cough again.” His quiet response would always stay with me: “I needed to be where she could see me immediately.”
At that moment, I understood his quiet love was always there — in every pat on the head, in every umbrella tilt (倾斜) and in every silent sacrifice. Actually, love doesn’t always need words. Sometimes the deepest love speaks softest.
1.What is the author’s purpose in writing the first paragraph?
A. To show her father’s strict daily routine.
B. To explain why father is often busy with work.
C. To compare her past and present understanding of love.
D. To describe typical communication problems in families.
2.What can we infer about the father from the text?
A. He expressed his care through actions instead of words.
B. He disliked showing emotion in front of family members.
C. He regretted not spending enough time with his daughter.
D. He was strict with the author in her academic performance.
3.Why was the father’s left shoulder completely wet?
A. He forgot to bring an umbrella.
B. He held the umbrella to protect his daughter.
C. He was caught in the rain before arriving.
D. He gave his coat to his daughter.
4.What does the author want to convey through this story?
A. Rainy days can bring family members closer.
B. Children often misunderstand their parents’ intentions.
C. Parents should spend more time communicating with their children.
D. True love is not necessarily measured by expressive words.
【答案】1. C 2. A 3. B 4. D

Passage 1
(25-26高一上·浙江S9联盟-11月·期中)I was thirteen years old. My family had moved to Southern California from North Florida a year before. Angry and stubborn, I could not adapt to this sudden change. Like so many teenagers, I struggled to escape from anything that did not agree with my picture of the world. A “good without need of guidance” kid, I rejected any kind of offering of love.
One night, after a particularly difficult day, I stormed into my room, shut the door and got into bed. As I lay down in the privacy of my bed, my hands slipped under my pillow. There was an envelope. I pulled it out and on the envelope, it read, “To read when you’re alone.” Since I was alone, no one would know whether I read it or not, so I opened it. It said “Mike, I know life is hard right now, I know you are upset and I know we don’t do everything right. I also know that I love you completely and nothing you do or say will ever change that. I am here for you and I love you — that will never change. Love, Mom.” That was the first of several “To read when you’re alone” letters.
Nowadays, I travel the world helping people. I was in Sarasota, Florida, teaching a seminar (研讨课) when, at the end of the day, a woman came up to me and shared the difficulty she was having with her son. We walked out to the beach, and I told her of my mom’s undying love and about the “To read when you’re alone” letters. Several weeks later, I got a card that said she had written her first letter and left it for her son. That night as I went to bed, I put my hands under my pillow and remembered the relief I felt every time I got a letter. In the midst of my teen years, the letters were reminders of calm that I was loved in spite of my shortcomings. Today, when the seas of life get stormy, I know that what under my pillow is assurance of love — consistent (始终如一的) and unconditional love changes my life.
1.The author was angry and stubborn mainly because ________.
A. he didn’t like his new school
B. he didn’t get along well with his parents
C. he wanted to escape from his parents’ control
D. he struggled to fit in with his new environment
2.What do we know about the letter found under the pillow?
A. It was written by the author’s friend.
B. It showed mom’s love and understanding.
C. It focused on the author’s school life.
D. It advised the author to move back to Florida.
3.What inspired the lady in Sarasota to write a letter to her son?
A. Her own difficult experience.
B. Her son’s poor performance at school.
C. The author’s rich teaching experience.
D. The author’s sharing of his mother’s action.
4.Which can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Teenage Trouble: Growing Pains
B. Mom’s Love Letters: My Secret Comfort
C. Helping Others: A Journey of Kindness
D. Parental Guidance: My Inner Strength Source
【答案】1. D 2. B 3. D 4. B

Passage 2
(25-26高一上·浙江A9联盟·期中)My grandmother knew what every Italian-American grandmother knows: that food brings us together, and that one of the best ways to show people you love them is to feed them.
It’s no surprise, then, that so many of our family traditions centered around food. We’d gather in the kitchen for every birthday and holiday, filling up on antipasto (开胃菜) before piling our plates high with the main course. My grandparents always hosted Christmas dinner, and it was always more than enough, but right before we sat down to eat, she’d pull me aside to show me the dish she made just for me: fresh pasta with tomato sauce, my absolute favorite food in the world.
It was a simple dish, but to me it was everything. It was the feeling of comfort in a bowl, warm food that filled me with joy. But more than that, it was a gesture that made me feel like I belonged. I was a shy kid, still trying to understand who I was, and in many situations I felt invisible. I’d wonder whether anyone saw me, or if I mattered at all. And here was my grandmother, showing me that she cared for me, and that I was worth making something special for. Years went by; I moved away and got married, but food was always one of the ways my grandmother showed her love. I’d visit throughout the years and she’d serve up a plate of pasta, some leftover dessert she had and a few pieces of fruit she pulled from the fridge.
When my daughter was born in 2020, for the first time in my life I wasn’t about to make the trip back home for Christmas. Trying to make the most of things, I cooked my family’s traditional foods including, of course, fresh pasta. I facetimed my parents and they handed the phone to my grandmother, and I showed her the pasta. I didn’t know it then, but it was the last time I’d ever speak with her. Shortly after the holidays she passed away unexpectedly.
It all seemed not fair that my grandmother passed away so soon after I became a parent. I’d hold my daughter and think about how she’d never get to experience my grandmother’s love, her sense of humor or her cooking. I’d wonder how I could make her feel the same sense of belonging and love that I felt through my grandmother’s pasta.
1.What does food mean in the author’s family according to the first two paragraphs?
A. A bond that unites family members.
B. A tradition only for birthdays and holidays.
C. A symbol of happiness among family members.
D. A way to satisfy hunger during family gatherings.
2.What made the author feel unique about the pasta?
A. The pasta was a rare dish that was difficult to make.
B. The pasta showed grandmother’s love and attention.
C. The author was the only one who was offered the pasta.
D. The pasta showed the author was important among her peers.
3.Why did the author feel unfair about her grandmother’s passing?
A. Because she couldn’t cook her grandmother traditional foods.

Passage 1
(25-26高一上·浙江台金七校·期中)After a difficult time dealing with serious injuries, Marc Marquez, a 32-year-old Spanish motorcycle racer, has made a successful comeback to the circuit (赛车道). On March 16th, the six-time world champion won his second race of the 2025 MotoGP season at the Argentina Grand Prix.
Born in Cervera, Spain, in 1993, Marquez asked his parents for a bike before he turned 4 years old. In 2013, he started his MotoGP career with the famous team Repsol Honda, and won his first MotoGP World Championship in his first season. From 2014 to 2019, he dominated the sport, getting five out of six championships with Honda.
Marquez is 1.68 meters tall, and he earned the nickname “the Ant of Cervera” because of his small build but amazing ability to control the heavy and powerful motorcycle. He pioneered the “elbow down” riding style that is popular today, where riders lean over with their elbows (手肘) close to the ground. A focus on core body strength allows Marquez to control a 160-kilogram motorcycle at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour.
Just when Marquez was on the way to even greater success, a serious accident in the 2020 MotoGP season broke his right arm. Since then, he has struggled with a long, slow comeback from a terrible series of crashes and injuries. It seems that nothing could stop Marquez from trying to get back to his best. During his recovery, Marquez’s team had to take the wheels off his motorcycle and hide them so he wouldn’t try to ride. He’s not even afraid of the terrible crashes that nearly ended his career. “Maybe sometimes I’m taking too much risk but I can’t ride a motorcycle if I’m always worrying about crashing.” Marquez said.
With two wins this season, Marquez has had a strong start to his trying to secure his first world title since 2019. “I continue fighting because, in the end, my love for racing is more than pain I went through,” he added.

2.What does the underlined word “dominated” in paragraph 2 mean?
A. Was suitable for.
B. Was the best in.
C. Focused on.
D. Took part in.
3.Why did Márquez’s team take away his motorcycle’s wheels?
A. Because he was injured in many accidents.
B. Because the motorcycle needed to be repaired.
C. Because they tried to prevent another terrible crash.
D. Because they wanted to prevent him from trying to ride.
4.According to the passage, which words best describe Marc Márquez?
A. Strong-willed and adventurous.

C. Over-confident and organized.
D. Easy-going and flexible.

Passage 2
(25-26高一上·浙江五湖联盟-11月·期中)Born on April 3, 1934, in London, England, Jane Goodall grew up in a family that nurtured her curiosity. Her father was a driver, while her mother, encouraged Jane’s love for animals. As a child, Jane dreamed of living among wild creatures in Africa, a passion fueled by her childhood fascination with a stuffed chimpanzee toy.
Jane’s path to science was unconventional. Unable to afford university, she worked as a secretary and later saved money by serving as a waitress to fund her dream of traveling to Africa. In 1957, at age 23, she met famous anthropologist Louis Leakey in Kenya. Leakey, seeking someone with an “open mind and patience” to study wild chimpanzees, chose Jane despite her lack of formal training. In 1965, she earned a PhD in ethology (生态学) from Cambridge University, becoming one of the few students without an undergraduate degree to do so.
In 1960, Jane arrived at Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania. Jane observed chimps using sticks to “fish” for termites (白蚁) and modifying stems to create tools — proving humans weren’t the only species capable of such behavior. She documented chimps hugging, fighting, and even waging “wars” over territory, revealing their capacity for both love and violence. By naming chimps like Flo, Fifi, and Frodo, Jane challenged the practice of numbering animals, emphasizing their unique identities.
Jane’s discoveries redefined humanity’s relationship with nature. In 1977, she founded the Jane Goodall Institute, which protects chimps and habitats .Her Roots & Shoots program, launched in 1991, inspires millions of students worldwide to solve environmental and humanitarian issues. Because of her contributions, she won UNESCO Peace Prize, and the 2025 U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Jane Goodall passed away in her sleep on October 1, 2025. Her life teaches us that curiosity, kindness, and persistence can transform the world. (25-26高一上·浙江卓越高中联盟-11月·期中)One quiet afternoon in France in her workshop, wood crafting artist Hua Yong found herself watching water boil. Without thinking, she reached for her phone and refreshed the screen. At that very moment, she realized how much modern life is controlled by speed. “We are completely caught up by the fast pace of life,” she said. “It’s becoming harder to find time to relax among the everyday chaos of life.”
Hua Yong, the 2024 receiver of the Hand of Wisdom prize, a Sino-French crafts exchange program, spent two months in Paris last year, which allowed her to reflect on the act of creation. She began experimenting with simple geometric (几何的) forms, repeating them to create visual (视觉的) effects that seemed to go beyond time and space. “I thought about how to create something new from nothing, and used the highest standards of traditional Chinese skills to bring these ideas to life,” she said.
“Wood crafting requires the devotion of time,” she noted. Her exhibition Changing the World in Silence at Yishu 8, an art platform in Beijing, marked the highlight of a year’s reflection. Running through mid-June, the show exhibits 25 pieces, 11 of which were created after her stay in Paris. Among the works was a vortex-shaped (旋涡状的) table, which drew the viewer’s mind into a different dimension (次元). “We hope all the crafts here quietly keep the viewers company, bringing a brief mental escape and a moment of relaxation,” described Hua.
“She has long worked on Chinese traditional materials and been constantly thinking,” said Su Dan, the artistic director of Hand of Wisdom, observing Hua’s shift since her return. “Works created in such a state of reflection become models of design philosophy: They are short-lived, yet everlasting.”
1.How does the writer introduce the topic in paragraph 1?
A. By giving an example.
B. By showing a problem.
C. By introducing a result.
D. By describing a scene.
2.What do we know about Hua’s experience in Paris?
A. It improved her skills.
B. It made her works short-lived.
C. It changed her understanding of time.
D. It won her the Hand of Wisdom prize.
3.The vortex-like table primarily serves as an example of something that offers ________.
A. an emotional escape
B. a simple geometric form
C. an ancient Chinese skill
D. a reflection of everyday chaos
4.What can we infer from Su Dan’s comment on Hua Yong’s works?
A. Though these works are short-lived, they are also everlasting.
B. It’s her focus on traditional materials that leads to her great creations.
C. The short-lived nature of Hua Yong’s works makes them less valuable.
D. Hua’s reflective creation gives her works long-lasting artistic meaning.
【答案】1. D 2. C 3. A 4. D

Passage 1
(25-26高一上·浙江杭州第二中学·期中)I’m James. Tired from work, I felt life was boring and I really needed something to change my focus. One night I came across a website recommending scuba (水肺) diving lessons. I hadn’t ever thought much about the idea of diving before; but its complete unfamiliarity sparked my interest; I decided to give it a shot! I had my training lessons at an indoor swimming pool. After finishing the courses, I felt very happy and proud for getting over my first fear and discomfort of breathing underwater.
Knowing I hadn’t yet experienced what real scuba diving is all about, I spent hours researching where the best places to dive were. Before I knew it. I was on an airplane to Belize. Less than a day after I arrived, and just a few minutes into my first ocean dive. I was already diving straight down and found myself 80 feet underwater. It’s the kind of extraordinary water having such great visibility (能见度) that you can see clearly for hundreds of feet around you.
Within minutes our 4-person dive group was surrounded by numerous nurse sharks, a moray eel (海鳗), large groupers and sea turtles. I was madly in love with scuba diving. As we reached the bottom, a lone nurse shark swam right under me. More started to arrive. Just as I was shooting pictures of the action and not paying attention to anything or anyone else around, I looked up to see a bright green threatening face headed straight for me. He wasn’t the least bit shy. He had apparently never heard of personal space. After he decided to swim by me without causing any bodily harm, I was both relieved and excited.

Passage 2
(25-26高一上·浙江山海协作体-11月·期中)As a child, Dan Fischer loved going to the beach and riding bikes along the coastline with his father, Karl Fischer. So when his father died of pancreatic cancer, he turned to the healing power of the ocean.
At the start of this year, Fischer wrote his father’s name on his surfboard and “took him out into the ocean” in Newport, Rhode Island. His father’s name shone in the sun on what felt like a shared adventure. Inspired, Fischer made a video and posted it on social media the same day. “If you love the ocean, or you know someone who loves the ocean, or maybe you lost someone who just loved being outdoors…, you can comment on this video with their name and a bit of their story. And I’ll put their name on my board here, just like I’ve done with my father’s name,” he said in the video. “And I’ll take them out into the ocean for you.”
Names poured in from thousands of strangers grieving (悲伤) for the loss of loved ones. Accordingly, the One Last Wave Project was born. The aim of the project was to exchange stories with a community of people going through the same pain. They were essentially healing together. About two months later, Fischer had received over 5,000 names and written most of them on two surfboards. The first two surfboards ran out of space — he’s working on getting more. He wrote the names in neat letters on the surfboard and put a clear acrylic (丙烯酸的) coat over them so they didn’t wash off.
Though a lot of people have been struggling with grief, Fischer was amazed by the responses that have poured in. “If I am able to help one person or one person shares their name, that is enough for me,” he said. “But I am blown away — by not just the number of people sharing, but the depth of stories and love that they are sharing.” And he plans to take his project around the world and connect with even more people — through sharing grief and the power of the ocean.
1.Why did Dan Fischer first write his father’s name on his surfboard?
A. To memorize his father with the ocean’s healing power.
B. To start a new surf project.
C. To show his love for surfing to strangers.

2.How did Dan Fischer feel about people’s responses to his project?
A. Amazed and deeply touched.
B. Tired but proud.
C. Confused and worried.
D. Disappointed but hopeful.
3.What does Fischer intend to do next?
A. He will share his project with the world.
B. He will connect to more social media.

Passage 3
(25-26高一上·浙江G5联盟-11月·期中)The summer I turned sixteen, I was eager to work at a trendy coffee shop downtown. Instead, my grandmother, a skilled potter, asked for my help in her dusty studio. I gave in and agreed, envisioning a boring summer.
My first task was to repair a cracked teacup. My hands, used to smartphone screens, fumbled with the delicate pieces and special adhesive (黏合剂). I expected her to take over, but she simply said, “Patience, Alex. The breakage is now part of its story. Your job isn’t to hide it, but to make it beautiful again.” Following the ancient Japanese art of kintsugi, she taught me to mix gold powder into the paint, filling the cracks with gleaming veins.
Weeks turned into a quiet rhythm. I learned to center clay on the wheel, to feel its life beneath my palms. I once tried to create a perfect vase, but it fell apart under the pressure of my ambition. “You’re forcing it,” she observed and added softly. “The clay speaks. You must listen.” I started again, letting the shape emerge more naturally. The final vase was slightly out of shape, but it had a character my first perfect attempt lacked.
On my last day, she handed me the first teacup I had repaired. The golden lines ran through it like a special map. “This is for you,” she said. “Remember, we are all like this clay. We will crack and break. But it is through repairing those breaks with grace that we become truly resilient and unique.”
That summer, I didn’t learn just about pottery. I learned a philosophy for life. I had entered the studio hoping to earn spending money; I left with a quiet understanding of patience, imperfection, and the invisible strength that comes from embracing our weaknesses.
1.What can we learn from the first two paragraphs?
A. Repairing the teacup required modern technology.
B. The author found pottery work easier than expected.
C. The author was unwilling to learn pottery from the start.
D. The grandmother used a special technique to hide the cracks.
2.What can be inferred from the grandmother’s statement, “The clay speaks. You must listen.”?
A. Pottery requires careful observation and perfect skills.
B. One should work with the nature of the material, not against it.

根据第一段“The summer I turned sixteen, I was eager to work at a trendy coffee shop downtown. Instead, my grandmother, a skilled potter, asked for my help in her dusty studio. I gave in and agreed, envisioning a boring summer.(16岁那年夏天,我渴望在市中心一家时髦的咖啡店工作。相反,我的祖母,一个熟练的陶工,在她尘土飞扬的工作室里找我帮忙。我妥协并同意了,想象着一个无聊的夏天)”可知,作者一开始并不愿意学习陶艺。故选C项。
(2)题解析:
推理判断题。根据第三段中的“I once tried to create a perfect vase, but it fell apart under the pressure of my ambition. “You’re forcing it,” she observed and added softly. “The clay speaks. You must listen.(我曾试图做一个完美的花瓶,但在我急于求成的压力下,它碎了。她看着我说:“你太强求了。”然后轻声补充道:“泥土会说话,你必须倾听。”)”可知,祖母的话是提醒作者不要违背泥土的特性,要顺应材料本身的状态创作。故选B项。

词句猜测题。根据第四段中“We will crack and break. But it is through repairing those breaks with grace that we become truly resilient and unique.(我们都会经历裂痕与破碎。但正是通过优雅地修复这些裂痕,我们才变得真正resilient且独特。)”可知,“resilient”与“经历破碎后仍能恢复”相关。结合语境推测,其含义最接近“坚韧的”。故选B项。
(4)题解析:
主旨大意题。根据全文内容,作者一开始不情愿地在祖母的工作室帮忙,却在学习陶艺的过程中,从修复茶杯、制作花瓶的经历中领悟到人生哲理,最后一段提到“That summer, I didn’t learn just about pottery. I learned a philosophy for life.(那个夏天,我学到的不只是陶艺,还有人生哲理。)”。所以全文核心是这段暑期经历如何转变为关于人生与个人成长的启示。故选C项。
Passage 4
(25-26高一上·浙江环大罗山·期中)My dad doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who would bake (烤) great bread, but he is and he does. Every Saturday he produces homemade bread. When he’s done, the whole house smells delicious.
The rest of the week, Dad fixes cars at work. The shop where Dad works doesn’t have enough work, so he’s under a lot of stress. I think Dad began baking bread to help him relax.
I’ve been feeling kind of stressed out myself since I found out I didn’t make the school swim team. Now I’ll have to wait a whole year to try out again. Plus, I’m taking some difficult classes this year.
I think Dad knew I was feeling bad. Last Saturday he asked me how things were going. I said OK, even though I didn’t feel OK at all. He looked at me for a moment, and then he said it was time for me to help. Then he headed to the kitchen.
I followed right behind him. Once we were there, Dad got out his big mixing bowl, handed me a large wooden spoon, and told me to mix while he added the ingredients (烹饪原料). Dad isn’t big on measuring. but he knows how much of each ingredient to use, and the bread always turns out great.
When I finished stirring, Dad showed me how to knead the dough (揉面团). Next came the most difficult part — doing nothing. We put the dough back into the bowl and then we waited for more than an hour for the dough to slowly rise and double in size. Next, we divided it into two and waited for it to rise again. Afterward, we put the dough into pans and waited another hour for the dough to rise and double.
Dad said the waiting is always the hardest part. “It’s hard to resist (抵制) putting the dough directly into the oven (烤箱), but if you do, the bread will be hard. The most important lesson of all is learning to be.” Dad taught me more than how to bake bread.

4.What lesson has the author learned from her dad?
A. Never give up.

(25-26高一上·浙江衢州五校·期中)Steve Wells is a British man who loves looking at trees. He spends most of his weekends doing so, plus evenings sometimes, alongside his day job. “I like giving my time to something worthwhile,” he says. “If I can help to protect our beautiful trees and woodlands, then I have spent my time well.”
In spring 2024, Steve joined Observatree, which is a non-profit project between several organisations and charities. It is run with 200 volunteers who have been trained to recognise new diseases and pest threats to UK trees.

Also, he keeps reports on his findings and hands them in to the Woodland Trust where the information is added to a database for the use of professional researchers. “One of the good things about this project is that it is really flexible,” he explains. “The minimum contribution required is 12 surveys a year but it is easily achievable. Last year, I actually handed in 40 reports.”
Sometimes his work involves more than just looking at trees, with reports followed up with the collection of samples (样本), which are sent to Forest Research for testing. “There are 22 main pests and diseases that need special attention, including ash dieback, sweet chestnut blight and the oak processionary moth,” explains Steve.
The Woodland Trust recently asked him to become a lead volunteer to help and support other volunteers, and he is excited about what his second year of surveying (勘查) will bring. “If the trees could talk, I imagine the stories they could tell me about what has happened around them over the years. (25-26高一上·浙江A9协作体-11月·期中)In 2004, the US men’s basketball team missed out on gold at the Athens Olympics, ending a run of three straight gold medals that began in 1992. To bounce back, the US put together a dream team with stars like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. This team, better known as the Redeem Team, helped lift Team USA to gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
On Sept 6, James was chosen into the Basketball Hall of Fame alongside members of the Redeem Team. Passage 2
(25-26高一上·浙江乐清知临中学·期中)Few people have achieved fame for coming in last place. That is why Michael Edwards, or “Eddie the Eagle”, became a rather unexpected hero. Unlike most athletes, Eddie did not come to the 1988 Calgary Olympic Winter Games for a medal. He came simply to compete. In doing so, he realized his dream.
At first, Eddie tried to make the British national ski team but failed. Then he chose the riskiest event, ski jumping. No British skier had ever competed in that sport, but having no competitors meant that Eddie had a better chance of qualifying (取得资格) for the 1988 Olympic. Games. It also meant there was no support for him. Eddie had no coach, equipment, or financial support, but what he had was determination. Not afraid of what he lacked, Eddie set out to learn his chosen sport, training himself for nearly 2 years. And he managed to meet the qualification for Olympic ski jumping, and landed himself in the 1988 Olympic Games. Eddie was determined to compete, and while he came in last, he did manage to land his jumps, and he still holds the British record in that sport. Coming in last place actually made him the star of the Olympics and the true embodiment (化身) of the Olympic spirit.
Many of us may have experienced similar limitations during our own youth that prevented us from following our dreams. Eddie’s rejection (拒绝) from the British national ski team is a story that many of us can relate to. Rejection can be devastating, but we can struggle to find the courage to put ourselves back out there, or the creativity to find another way.
1.What was Eddie’s dream?
A. To become a hero.
B. To join the national ski team.
C. To take part in the Olympics.
D. To develop his ski jumping skills.
2.Why did Eddie choose ski jumping as his event?
A. It was popular among British skiers.
B. It meant a better chance to win a medal.
C. He would get the support he needed in this event.
D. He would be more likely to be included in the Olympics.
3.What made Eddie the star of the Olympics?
A. His caring little for fame.
B. His professional performance.
C. His breaking the British record.
D. His determination to follow his dream.
4.What does the underlined word “devastating” mean in the last paragraph?
A. Unforgettable. B. Disastrous. C. Sudden. D. Confusing.
【答案】1. C 2. D 3. D 4. B

(2)题解析:
推理判断题。根据文章第二段“At first, Eddie tried to make the British national ski team but failed. Then he chose the riskiest event, ski jumping. No British skier had ever competed in that sport, but having no competitors meant that Eddie had a better chance of qualifying (取得资格) for the 1988 Olympic Games.(起初,Eddie试图加入英国国家滑雪队,但失败了。然后他选择了风险最大的项目——跳台滑雪。没有英国滑雪运动员参加过这项运动,但是没有竞争对手意味着Eddie有更好的机会获得1988年奥运会的资格。)”可推断,Eddie选择这个项目是因为英国没有滑雪运动员参加这项运动,所以Eddie没有竞争对手,那么就更有机会获得参加奥运会的资格。故选D。
(3)题解析:
推理判断题。根据文章第二段“Eddie had no coach, equipment, or financial support, but what he had was determination. Not afraid of what he lacked, Eddie set out to learn his chosen sport, training himself for nearly 2 years. (25-26高一上·浙江浙南名校联盟-11月·期中)The first light pushed through the blinds as Elena slipped on her shoes. The city was still quiet. Today was Saturday — but not a day for rest. She had signed up to help at Rosie’s Free Kitchen, a local nonprofit that made hot meals for people in need.
She arrived early. The kitchen was already busy. At a corner table, an older man named Mr. Daniels was already cutting carrots. He gave her a nod and said, “Thanks for coming.” She smiled, though her hands were a bit shaky.
Elena’s task was simple: wash and prepare vegetables for soup. She watched volunteers move around her — some stirring big pots, others pouring the soup into the bowls, still more packaging meals. It was indeed a quiet dance of service.
Twenty minutes in, someone shook the doors. A young mother walked in with her little kid. Their eyes were cautious. Elena’s heart suddenly tightened. She served them a warm bowl of soup and watched as the child pressed his face into the bowl’s steam. The mother’s eyes met Elena’s. A silent “thank you” hung between them, heavier than words.
At midday, the line grew longer — but so did the smiles. An older woman whispered, “You didn’t have to do this.” Elena shook her head. “Yes, I did.” The woman touched her hand and said, “I really appreciate it.” The words were simple, but they echoed in Elena’s mind.
After cleanup — mopping floors, putting away plates, wiping tables — the kitchen fell silent. As Elena walked home, her shoes dusty, her shirt smelling slightly of garlic, she felt full in a way she hadn’t before. Service, she realized, was not a burden — it was a bridge. A bridge connecting different lives through shared humanity. A bridge she felt honored to help build, one bowl at a time.

(25-26高一上·浙江北仑中学·期中)“Lives of great men all remind us that we can make our lives sublime (崇高的)” is a line from A Psalm of Life (《人生颂》) that Chen Lin read in a Learn video when he was 96 years old.
With a “life is to give, not to take” attitude, Chen Lin devoted his life to the development of foreign language education in China.
Born in 1922, Chen worked in foreign education for more than 70 years. In 1950, he started teaching at Beijing Foreign Studies University.

B. Because she had no chance to say goodbye to her grandmother.
C. Because her grandmother didn’t get to see her daughter grow up.
D. Because her daughter would miss out her grandmother’s warmth.
4.Which of the following can best describe the author’s grandmother?
A. Helpful and generous
B. Considerate and caring
C. Careful and courageous
D. Humorous and responsible

He visits trees, whether individually in woodlands or in parks, to look for symptoms (症状) affecting their health.
