Passage1
Never Too Late to Dream
Even in early times, people could realize the importance of dreams and knew that dreams gave meaning to life. Every great achievement has been the result of years of dreaming. If a person has a dream and holds fast to it, he or she will find a way to bring it into reality. Children do not have much experience or knowledge. However, they are natural dreamers. They should not be laughed at for being naive. Many great men were dreamers when they were children. One such dreamer was Thomas Edison. He used to be ostracized when he was in primary school, but his achievements were greater than everyone else’s in his time.
Teenagers and young people should also be given support to dream. The world is full of successful teenagers and young people. Their dreams may change their lives, even the world. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are the good examples. They have developed technology and brought great progress to humans while making money for themselves. Older people should believe that it is never too late to dream and they are never too old to make dreams turn into reality. Colonel Sanders realized his dreams at the age of 67 and set up the biggest fried chicken company (KFC) in the world. To dream is a wonderful ability which can lead to wonderful results. Olympic records were broken by players who were brave enough to dream.

A Spark for Space Dreams
On a December afternoon in 2021,11yearold Sally watched a special science class on TV. Astronaut Wang Yaping, smiling in the Tiangong Space Station, showed how water floated in space. Sally’s eyes opened wide as she saw Wang make a water ball float between her hands. “Science is amazing!” Sally thought.

From that day, Sally fell in love with space. She joined the school’s science club. She read science books during breaks and drew pictures of spaceships in her notebooks. Her favorite subject became science. She enjoyed solving problems, even when they were hard. At lunchtime, she used toys to explain how spaceships flew to her friends. Sally’s room was full of space posters and science tools. She spent hours studying every day, and she never gave up. “Every mistake helps me grow,” she always told herself. She dreamed of working with astronauts, building space stations, and growing plants on Mars.
When Sally looked at the night sky, she didn’t just see stars—she saw possibilities. Wang Yaping’s lesson had lit a spark for space exploration in her heart. Sally knew becoming a space scientist would take years of hard work, but she was ready. For her, science was not only a subject, but also a journey to the future.

Passage1
As teenagers, you must have many dreams. These dreams can be very big, like becoming the winner of the Nobel Prize. Or they can be small—you may just want to become one of the best students in your class. For example, you want to be a reporter. But you’re not very good at some school subjects, and you don’t do well in talking with others. So it is not easy for you to become a reporter. At a moment like this, never tell yourself it’s impossible. As you know, these kinds of ideas can stop you from making your dream come true.
Andrew Matthews, an Australian writer, tells us that it is life’s biggest challenge to make our dreams come true. No matter what your dream is, if you find one, try to make it come true. The first thing you must do is to remember what your dream is. Don’t let it leave your heart. Keep telling yourself what you want and want to be. Then, do this step by step because a big dream is made up of many small ones.
Also, you must never give up your dream. There will be many difficulties on the road to your dreams. You need to decide what is the most important. Working hard will bring you better exam results, but wasting time never will. Maybe this can make you get closer to your dream.

Anna’s dream is to become a professional dancer. She fell in love with dancing at the age of seven. Every morning before class, she spends one hour on tough leg training. Sometimes her legs hurt terribly and she feels hopeless. Several times she wanted to stop practicing, but she keeps the poem’s words in mind. She holds on to her dream and believes hard work will pay off one day.

But his PE teacher tells him that a strong will is the key to success. Now he trains harder than before and never loses heart.
Linda hopes to be a space scientist. It takes lots of time for her to solve hard math problems. When she meets hard tasks, she won’t give up easily. She always reminds herself that every big dream starts as a tiny seed in our heart.

Dear future (未来的) Linda (or rather myself),
I hope when you read this letter, you don’t find my writing too messy! At the moment, I’m 15 years old and living at home with my family. I love school and have lots of good friends. We have a lot of fun together. My biggest worry is not doing well in my school exams, but I’m working really hard, so hopefully I have nothing to worry about.

I promise myself I’ll always try my best and have no regrets. I never want to forget where every step of my life has taken me. Already it seems as if so much has happened. I’ve moved from primary to junior high (about to graduate), been taught to swim and dance, learned to speak Chinese and French, and raised money for those in need by selling old toys and books.
I really hope you’re happy. I hope you have an interesting job that you enjoy doing and look forward to each morning when you wake up. I hope you get on well with good friends and family and maybe also have a family of your own. More than anything else, I hope you’ve enjoyed every single moment so far!

After we read the poem Dream in Welcome class, our English teacher leads us to talk about teenagers’ dreams and difficulties. Three classmates share their own stories in groups.
Tom wants to be a long-distance runner. His dream journey is full of difficulties. He often gets tired after long runs and fails many small matches. He once thought giving up would be easier.

Passage3
Dear future (未来的) Linda (or rather myself),
I hope when you read this letter, you don’t find my writing too messy! At the moment, I’m 15 years old and living at home with my family. I love school and have lots of good friends. We have a lot of fun together. My biggest worry is not doing well in my school exams, but I’m working really hard, so hopefully I have nothing to worry about.
There’s so much I (you!) want to do. I hope you’ve travelled all over the world and seen lots of things and met lots of people. I hope you’ve visited the Great Wall in China and the pyramids in Egypt, shopped in New York City and in Paris, seen the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I’ve just remembered that you always wanted to see elephants in India—I hope you’ve managed to do that, too.
Love,
Linda

What do you want to say to your future self?
Liu Yixin Posted 2 hours ago
I want to tell my future self: don’t give up playing the piano! I started when I was seven. Life may get busy, but music makes life rich. I also hope I get into my dream school. But if I don’t, that’s okay too. Happiness and health matter more than anything. Give yourself a big hug!
Li Zhaoyan Posted 1 hour ago
I hope my future self still writes songs. Music helps me feel better when life gets noisy. I don’t want to live a meaningless life. I also hope I am happy. Life may have challenges, but I need to accept who I am and cherish what I have. Remember: no one is perfect!
