A series (系列) of short videos about the Xixia Imperial Tombs (西夏陵) got over 140,000 views within their first week online. I never thought I could help share Chinese culture with the world,” said Chen Wenbo, a student who helped make the videos.
The short videos were from the Dao Zhonghua Bilingual Cultural Communication Studio* at North Minzu University. Professor Zhang Mei started the studio. Now, the team has several teachers and over 60 university students. They posted their first bilingual short video on 8 March, 2022. After that, they stuck to a regular habit—posting one short video every Tuesday. Their videos cover different topics, such as traditional clothing and ancient art. Next, the studio is going to work on a “China Travel” series to introduce more Chinese cities to the world.
Everyone in the studio shares the same goal: to tell China’s stories well in both Chinese and English. As Professor Zhang says, language learning not only helps us see the world, but also lets the world see China.

A study in the UK found that following the national health guide for weight loss won't work well if you eat ultra-processed (超加工的) foods.
As we all know, ultra-processed foods have lots of additives (添加剂), usually high in salt and sugar, which are bad for health. For example, processing can change food's texture and structure. This can make you take longer to feel full. So, people might eat more without realising it. Also, additives and heat in processing can affect the good germs in your body. This also makes it harder to lose weight.
In the UK, more than half of people's daily meals come from ultra-processed foods. Low-income (低收入的) groups are more affected because ultra-processed foods are cheaper (更便宜的) than minimally (最低程度地) processed ones. The study tested 55 people in the UK. They followed two eight-week diet plans: one with minimally processed foods (like home-cooked meals) and another with ultra-processed foods. Both diets met the UK’s Eatwell Guide for food. The meals were sent to their homes, and they could choose how much and when to eat.
The results showed that people lost weight on both diets, but the weight loss in the minimally processed food group was twice that in the ultra-processed food group (1.84 kg vs 0.88 kg). Minimally processed foods could also reduce body fat, while ultra‑processed foods couldn’t.
This study shows the importance of choosing less processed foods for better health and weight loss. By paying attention to the foods we eat, we can make healthier choices.
( ) 31. How does the writer start the passage?
A. By asking questions. B. By listing some numbers.
C. By making a comparison. D. By sharing a study finding.
( ) 32. What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
A. When to eat ultra-processed foods.
B. How to make ultra-processed foods.
C. Where people can buy ultra-processed foods.
D. Why ultra-processed foods are bad for health and weight loss.
( ) 33. Why do low-income groups eat more ultra-processed foods?
A. Because ultra-processed foods taste better.
B. Because ultra-processed foods are cheaper.
C. Because ultra-processed foods have more good germs for health.
D. Because ultra-processed foods make people feel full more easily.
( ) 34. What do we know about the study from Paragraph 3?
A. It didn’t follow the UK’s health guide.
B. It tested 55 people with a two-week diet plan.
C. People who took the test could decide the time to eat.
D. People eating ultra-processed foods didn’t lose weight.
( ) 35. What does the underlined word “that” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A. The salt. B. The sugar. C. The weight loss. D. The body fat.

Dear friends,
I’m glad you shared your feelings with us. Learning to manage emotions is an important skill. Here are some useful “tools”.
First, accept all your emotions. Everyone feels upset or down from time to time, so don’t worry too much about having negative feelings. Second, try to look on the bright side. When you face difficulties, think positively so that you can find hope and strength. Also, when you feel angry, take a deep breath to calm down. This helps you control your anger and make better choices. Finally, don’t shut yourself away. Go outside with your friends and enjoy the sunshine. Or talk to someone you trust if you’re feeling down. Sharing can make you feel less lonely.
Let’s learn to deal with our emotions wisely together!
