Step 2 Pre⁃reading 1.Present the pre⁃reading questions in the textbook:“Who is your favourite film star?Why?” and “What do you know about Audrey Hepburn?” 2.Ask students to observe the title “Audrey Hepburn:Hollywood’s all⁃time best” and predict what aspects of her life the article may include. Step 3 While⁃reading 1.Extensive reading Ask students to read the article quickly and identify the main stages of Hepburn’s life:childhood dream and war experience,beginning of acting success,Hollywood achievements,UNICEF work and final years. 2.Intensive reading Ask students to read carefully and underline key dates,important roles,awards and details about her work for children around the world. 3.Work on A (1)Let students complete the timeline about Audrey Hepburn’s life with the key years and events from the article. (2)Check the answers and guide students to see how a timeline helps organize a biographical text clearly. 4.Work on B (1)Ask students to answer the five comprehension questions and locate supporting evidence in the article. (2)Focus on the final question “Why was Audrey Hepburn much more than a star?” and guide students to connect her film achievements with her humanitarian work. Step 4 Post⁃reading 1.Organize students to discuss:“Which part of Hepburn’s life impresses you most,her acting success or her work for children?Why?” 2.Invite groups to share.
