What’s your favourite school subject? Do you love maths? Does English interest you? Or are you more of a scientist? We all have favourite subjects, but what if you studied two or more together instead of learning about each subject separately (分别地)? That’s exactly how some students in Finland (芬兰) are learning.
When students learn about topics such as world events, they study several subjects together. For example, in a course about World War II, the students study history, geography and maths. Learning about topics, not just one subject, helps students see several points of view. In another course, called “Working in a café”, students study English, communication skills and economics (经济学).
Finnish educators (教育者) believe students learn better when they work in groups. Working together helps students develop their ability to communicate. At this point, students in Finland don’t spend their whole school day working in groups. They still attend regular classes and study some subjects separately. But Finland is serious about making changes to the school day and to how students learn.
Finnish schools are making this change, because they believe that working together to study topics is better and more challenging for students than working alone or studying only one subject at a time.
In addition, they feel that students who choose to study topics that they care about and to work together with teachers and other students become better learners. They also feel that students who learn in this way are better prepared for jobs.
9. How does the writer start the text?
A. By comparing facts. B. By listing numbers.
C. By raising questions. D. By telling stories.
10. What subjects can students study in a course about World War II?
① English. ② History. ③ Maths. ④ Geography.
A. ①②③ B. ②③④ C. ①③④ D. ①②③④
11. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. Most Finnish teachers like discussing with students.
B. Some students prefer to work alone and not in groups.
C. Schools should have separate classrooms and hallways.
D. Recent changes in Finnish education are good for students.
12. What’s the best title for the text?

① On February 25th, some elderly care robots were shown to the public. These robots are great helpers for old people and bring lots of convenience and happiness to their lives.
② These robots are very useful in daily life. They can remind old people to take medicine at the right time. As for those who have trouble walking, the robots can walk beside them. They use sensors (传感器) to know if the old people are about to fall and stop them from falling. Some robots can even go outside with old people, like walking in the park or going to the nearby shops because they have navigation systems (导航系统).
③ Loneliness is a big problem for many old people. But these robots can be good friends. They can talk to old people. They can tell interesting stories, like stories from history. They can also talk about everyday things, such as the weather, local news, or the latest TV shows. This not only makes old people feel less lonely but also helps their minds stay active. The robots can also do small jobs. They can pick up light things that old people drop, like a book or glasses. For housework, they can do easy things, like cleaning the living room, tidying the bedroom or sweeping the floor. This helps old people keep their homes clean without getting too tired.
④ In the future, these robots will probably have even more uses. They may be like family doctors. For example, they can check heart rate (心率), blood pressure (血压), and body temperature all the time. If there is anything wrong, the robot can quickly tell family members or doctors. They might also be able to help with more difficult medical things, like helping to dress a wound (包扎伤口) with a doctor’s help.
⑤ As technology gets better, making these robots will cost less. Then more families can afford them. When more people can buy these robots, more money will be put into making them better. So, the robots will work even better and be of higher quality (质量).
⑥ As people gets older, more and more families need help taking care of the old. In the future, elderly care robots will play an important role in our lives.
13. Why are these robots especially helpful for the old people who live alone?

D. More functions (功能) may be added to these robots in the future.
15. Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
16. What can we infer (推断) from the text?
A. The navigation systems of the robots will only work indoors.
B. These robots may become more affordable for ordinary families over time.
C. Old people will no longer need to take medicine with the help of the robots.
D. Elderly care robots may completely replace human caregivers (护理员) in the future.

A. Group Learning in Finland B. New Learning Methods in Finland
C. The Most Popular Subjects in Schools D. The Important Life Skills for Students

A. They can repair broken furniture.
B. They can help the old people find jobs.
C. They can stay with them and help with daily tasks.
D. They can teach the old people how to use smartphones.
14. Which of the following statements is NOT right?
A. The cost of making these robots will be low.
B. Old people’s quality of life may be improved.
C. Fewer families will need these robots in the future.
