David was very brave. He gave a speech. Sarah was moved. The bookstore was saved.
✓ 高分写法(具体):With a surge of courage, David stepped forward. He laid the faded photograph and yellowed receipt on the contract. Sarah's pen hovered over the contract, her businesslike mask slipping for a second.
David stepped forward, his heart pounding.
把东西摆出来:lay...on the counter / laid out
例:He laid the faded photo and yellowed receipt on the contract.
手在抖:his hands trembled / his voice shook
例:His voice, when it came, was barely a whisper.
Sarah's pen hovered over the contract
例:Sarah's pen hovered over the contract, then slowly lowered.
Workers restored the weathered wooden sign.
The news felt like a physical blow to David.
心跳加速:his heart pounding in his chest
例:David watched from the sidelines, his heart pounding.
一股勇气涌上来:a surge of courage
例:With a surge of courage, David stepped forward.
眼神重新点亮:a faint light rekindled in his eyes
例:A faint light rekindled in the old man's eyes.
Sarah's businesslike mask slipped for a second.
旧纸的气味:the smell of old paper
例:The smell of old paper was the smell of his childhood.
He could not imagine the street without its warm light.
The wooden sign, weathered but proud, read "Hopkins Books".
泛黄的书页:yellowed pages / a faded cover
例:The cover was faded, the pages yellowed.
This is not just...
例:"This is not just a receipt. It is my childhood."
它的脊还硬着:its spine still holds strong
例:"This store's spine is still strong, just like this book's spine."
To you it is just business," David said softly.
The world has moved on
例:"Maybe it is time," Mr. Hopkins sighed. "The world has moved on."
褪色照片:a faded photograph
例:He laid the faded photograph on the contract.
泛黄收据:a yellowed receipt
例:The receipt was from his first book bought with his own money.
旧书签:a worn bookmark
例:A bookmark from his tenth birthday was in his bag.
书脊还硬:the spine still held strong
例:The cover was faded, but the spine still held strong.
▎6. 升华句
新旧融合:combine the old and the new
例:They combined a bookstore and a café.
旧心继续跳:the old heart beats stronger
例:The old heart would beat stronger than ever.
一个人的勇气:one voice can change the ending
例:One quiet voice changed the ending.
1 With a surge of courage, David stepped forward, his backpack slipping from his shoulder.
2 His voice, when it came, was barely a whisper at first, then gained strength with each word.
用法:插入语when it came+并列谓语
句3 He laid the faded photograph, the yellowed receipt, and the worn bookmark on the contract between them.
4 "This store's spine is still strong, just like this book's spine," he said.
Tom Sawyer
句5 Sarah's pen hovered over the contract, her businesslike mask slipping for a second.
6 A decision was made to combine a bookstore and a café in one project, and the construction began.
7 Weeks later, the gentle hum of saws mixed with the familiar smell of old paper.
8 The warm, inviting light from the new windows spilled onto the street, just as it always had.
用法:just as方式状语,回扣原文warm light
Mr. Hopkins' bookstore was a quiet island in the noisy stream of the modern city. For decades, it had been a shelter for book lovers. The wooden sign above the door, weathered but proud, read "Hopkins Books" in brick red. It had been a constant place where time moved slower with the first turn of a page. Now, it was closing. The news felt like a physical blow to David, a quiet college student who had grown up reading in the cozy corners of the shop. The smell of old paper was the smell of his childhood, witnessing his growth. He could not imagine the street without its warm, inviting light. When the news spread throughout the entire neighborhood, worry was written all over everyone's faces.
The reason for the closure was a woman named Sarah Chen. Representing a large development company, she had made a generous offer to buy the building. She saw the space not for its shelves of stories, but for its potential as a trendy café, a profitable upgrade. To her, it was just business. Mr. Hopkins, now old and tired, felt defeated. "Maybe it is time, David," he sighed, his hand resting on a dusty copy of his favorite novel. "The world has moved on."
On the day of the final meeting, David arrived early, his backpack filled with items he had collected over the years from the store: a bookmark from his tenth birthday, a receipt from the first book he had bought with his own money, a photograph of himself and Mr. Hopkins taken during a summer reading program. He walked to the children's section and drew a small, worn copy of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The cover was faded, the pages yellowed, but the spine still held strong.
Sarah arrived precisely at 2:00 p.m. She wasted no time getting down to business, reviewing the contract with Mr. Hopkins. David watched from the sidelines, his heart pounding in his chest.
Para 1: He could not let this happen, not without trying to make his voice heard.
Para 2: A decision was made to combine a bookstore and a café in one project, and the construction began.
② 句句挂钩: 段首句说"make his voice heard",下句就写他怎么做(stepped forward, laid out items);"bookmark/receipt/photo"摆出来,下句就写每件东西的故事;Sarah的笔悬住,下句就写她放下笔。
③ 物尽其用(圈原文钩子): 原文埋了:wooden sign/brick red字(第二段装修要修招牌)、smell of old paper(第二段新旧气味混合)、warm light(第二段新窗户的光)、backpack里的bookmark/receipt/photo(第一段摆出来)、Tom Sawyer书spine still held strong(第一段比喻)、just business(David要打破这句话)、"The world has moved on"(David要回应这句话)。
④ 胶水: 两段用段首句"A decision was made"搭桥;段内用then/and/but连接;Sarah→she,Mr. Hopkins→he,David→he(注意人称)换着用。
With a surge of courage, David stepped forward"(心跳接勇气);"the construction began"→下句"Weeks later"(装修开始接几周后);"Tom Sawyer"→下句"This book's spine is still strong"(书接书脊)。
He could not let this happen, not without trying to make his voice heard. With a surge of courage, David stepped forward, his backpack slipping from his shoulder. "Please," he began. He laid the faded photograph, the yellowed receipt, and the worn bookmark on the contract between them. "This receipt is not just for a book. It is the first book I ever bought myself, right here." He drew out the worn copy of Tom Sawyer. "This store's spine is still strong, just like this book's spine." Sarah's pen hovered over the contract, her businesslike mask slipping for a second. Slowly, she lowered her pen. A faint light rekindled in the old man's eyes.
A decision was made to combine a bookstore and a café in one project, and the construction began. Weeks later, the gentle hum of saws mixed with the familiar smell of old paper. Workers carefully restored the weathered wooden sign, keeping the brick red letters as they had always been. The warm, inviting light from the new windows spilled onto the street, just as it always had. The old heart would beat stronger than ever.
① 细节回扣到位:原文提到的bookmark/receipt/photo/Tom Sawyer/wooden sign/warm light全部在续写中再次出现,这是读后续写最核心的得分点。
David was brave → With a surge of courage, David stepped forward(David很勇敢→一股勇气涌上来,他走上前(with+独立主格))
He put things on the table → He laid the faded photograph, yellowed receipt and worn bookmark on the contract(他把东西放桌上→他把褪色照片、泛黄收据和磨损书签摆在合同上(具体细节))
The bookstore is still strong → This store's spine is still strong, just like this book's spine(书店还能撑→这家店的书脊还硬着,就像这本书(比喻回扣原文))
Sarah was moved → Sarah's pen hovered over the contract, her mask slipping(Sarah被打动→她的笔悬在合同上,面具滑了(动作show not tell))
The old man was happy → A faint light rekindled in the old man's eyes(老人很高兴→老人眼里重新点亮一束光(身体反应))
The light was warm → The warm light spilled onto the street, just as it always had(灯光很暖→温暖的灯光洒在街上,和从前一样(回扣原文warm light))
With a surge of courage, David stepped forward, his backpack slipping from his shoulder.
With a surge of courage是介词短语作状语;句尾his backpack slipping from his shoulder是独立主格(名词his backpack+现在分词slipping),自带逻辑主语,不是完整句子,作伴随状语。
He laid the faded photograph, the yellowed receipt, and the worn bookmark on the contract between them.
He laid sth on sth。三个并列宾语the faded photograph, the yellowed receipt and the worn bookmark,on the contract是地点状语,between them是后置定语。
Sarah's pen hovered over the contract, her businesslike mask slipping for a second.
句尾her businesslike mask slipping for a second是独立主格(名词mask+现在分词slipping),表伴随。
A decision was made to combine a bookstore and a café in one project, and the construction began.
A decision was made。to combine... and连接第二个并列句the construction began。
Weeks later, the gentle hum of saws mixed with the familiar smell of old paper.
拆解:主谓结构:the gentle hum mixed with the familiar smell。hum(锯子的嗡嗡声)和smell(旧纸气味)混搭,是通感修辞。
The warm, inviting light from the new windows spilled onto the street, just as it always had.
The light spilled onto the street。from the new windows是后置定语。just as it always had是方式状语从句,had后面省略了spilled。

①With a surge of courage, I stepped forward, my backpack slipping...(with+独立主格,动作+细节)。②I laid the faded ______ and yellowed ______ on the table/contract(摆原文物品,一个都不能少)。③"This is not just... It is..."(陈情句,把物品升华成回忆/童年)。④Her pen ______ over..., her mask slipping(动作写情绪,不直接说"她被打动了")。
①Weeks later, the sound of ______ mixed with the familiar smell of ______(通感:新的声音+旧的气味)。②Workers carefully restored the weathered ______(回扣原文旧物:招牌/书/灯)。③The warm light spilled onto the street, just as it always had(回扣原文光影,首尾呼应)。④The old heart would beat stronger than ever(升华:传统没有死,而是以新方式继续)。
比如写善意话题,第三句就可以套Not until...did I...;写反转话题,结尾就套Gone was my...。
From then on, whenever... / I learned to... / The old heart beats...。
