1. The boy controls the puppet ________ his hands.
A. with B. on C. at
【答案】A
with用;on在……上面;at在。根据“...his hands.”
2. ________ wonderful puppet the boy has got!
A. How B. What C. What a
3. Puppet shows are ________ special than many other traditional arts.
A. much B. more C. most
much许多/非常;more更;most最。
4. We should pass down puppet art, ________ it will be lost.
A. and B. or C. so
and和,并且;or或者,否则;so所以。根据“We should pass down puppet art”与“it will be lost”可知,后句是前句未实现的后果,or在此处意为“否则”,符合逻辑。
5. Many young people ________ puppet shows to keep the culture alive.
A. hold B. held C. will hold
【答案】A
6. We wonder ________ more teenagers will love puppet art.
A. what B. that C. whether
what什么;that无实义;whether是否。
7. Students ________ to learn puppet art at school now.
A. are told B. were told C. will be told
【答案】A
8. After watching the wonderful puppet show, many students _________ it.
A. talk about B. worry about C. hear about
【答案】A

A. unless B. if C. as soon as

unless除非;if 如果;as soon as一……就……。根据“The traditional puppet art will last forever _________ more people love it.”

11. B 12. A 13. B 14. A 15. C 16. B 17. C 18. A 19. A 20. B
下一句“For example, you breathe faster, your face turns red”举例说明生气时身体出现的各种信号,也就是身体在告知你正在生气,tell“告诉”;advise“建议”、serve“服务”语义不通。
前文说身体会表现出愤怒,后文break something or hit someone(打碎物品、打人)都是发怒时的冲动行为,throw away“扔掉”符合这类举动;look after“照顾”、give up“放弃”和发火的冲动行为不符。

The 24 Solar Terms are a treasure of traditional Chinese culture. Long ago, Chinese farmers watched the sun, rain and temperature changes in nature. They created the 24 Solar Terms to guide farming work. Instead of trying to control nature, ancient Chinese people learned to follow its rules.

Wang Fang stayed in the village for two weeks, where her main task was to teach English to the local children. The village school was old and simple. Even so, the children showed great love for study. They walked for hours every day just to go to school. At first, Wang Fang found teaching quite challenging because of the children’s poor English. However, she stuck to her work. She used lively pictures and fun games to interest the children in English learning. Little by little, the children made great progress. Wang Fang was deeply moved when they greeted her in simple English, with tears filling her eyes.
What’s more, Wang Fang learned a lot from the lovely children during her stay. They taught her life skills such as planting rice and climbing mountains. Although they lived a simple and poor life, they were positive and kind enough to share their food with her. After returning home, Wang Fang decided to do more to help them. She put up posters and encouraged her classmates to join in a book donation activity. In the end, they collected 500 books and donated them to the village school.

Grain Rain is one of the solar terms in spring. It usually arrives around April 20. During Grain Rain, spring rain becomes more active. The rain provides plenty of water for crops and plants to grow fast. Besides farming work, people keep many interesting customs. Some people pick fresh spring-tea leaves. Some families enjoy fresh seasonal vegetables. These small customs show people’s respect for nature.
Now the world faces new environmental problems. Ideas from the 24 Solar Terms are still useful for today’s life. This tells us that humans should not get too many resources from nature. B. People mainly grow rice in big rivers.

B. Teenagers only learn solar terms at school.
C. Environmental problems are disappearing quickly.

As a 15-year-old teenager, Wang Fang took part in a meaningful volunteer programme in a mountain village last summer. This unforgettable experience greatly changed her way of thinking and helped her grow.
