Last month, Liu Yang returned to his hometown after five years of study abroad. When he stepped off the train, he could not believe his eyes. The small station he remembered, dusty and crowded, had been replaced by a bright, modern building. The dirt road outside was gone. In its place was a wide avenue with trees on both sides.
His old neighbour, Uncle Ma, came to pick him up.“You look surprised!” Uncle Ma laughed. “Come, let me show you around.”
They drove past the old mill, which was now a small museum. The factory that used to produce black smoke had been turned into a creative park with cafes and art studios. Even the river, once grey and lifeless, now had clear water and wooden bridges.
But what touched Liu Yang most was the community library. In the past, there was no such place in town. Now it stood at the town centre, with children reading inside and elderly people chatting on the benches outside. An old lady recognized him,“You are Mr Liu’s son, aren’t you? He used to help me fix my roof. He was such a kind man.”
“Why do we change places?”, Uncle Ma said. “We do not change them to forget what they were. We change them so that more people can have a good life here.” Liu Yang looked at the town, new yet familiar, and understood.

For many days we traveled slowly through heavy rain and thick mud. My master, John, was a kind man, but his face looked tired and worried. We were going to the town with a heavy load, and the roads were worse than anyone had thought. The rain had turned the dirt roads into rivers of brown water, and my legs hurt from pulling the heavy cart (马车) step by step.
Near the end of the day, we came to a bridge. The water had risen so high that it was almost touching the wooden planks (木板) above. John got down from the cart and walked to the edge of the bridge. He looked at the rushing water below, then back at me. I stood still, my ears forward, my whole body tight. Something did not feel right.
“Easy, Beauty.” John said softly, patting my neck. He walked onto the bridge and hit his foot hard on the planks. They made a low sound and shook. He came back quickly and took hold of my rope. “We cannot cross,” he said firmly. “The bridge is not safe. We will find another way.”
Just then, a man on a horse came riding fast toward us. “Why are you stopping?” he shouted, sounding annoyed. “The town is only two miles ahead!” John told him about the broken bridge, but the man laughed. “That’s not true! I crossed it just this morning!” He made his horse go forward. The horse, a young one, tried to step onto the bridge, but suddenly he stopped and raised his front legs up, blowing air hard with fear. No matter how hard the man hit him, the horse refused to go one step further.
John looked at me, and I looked at John. “Beauty and that horse both know something we don’t,” John said quietly. “I trust them more than I trust what any man says.” The angry rider finally turned his horse away, saying bad words under his breath. The next day, we heard news: the bridge had fallen down in the night, taking part of the road with it. John put his arm around my neck and patted me for a long time. “Good boy, Beauty,” he said. “You saved us.”

Recently, a Chinese technology company called DeepSeek has caught global attention. It mainly focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) as well as big data and aims to solve problems in areas like education, healthcare, and finance (金融). DeepSeek’s AI is designed to make life easier and more productive, but we still need to treat it in a reasonable way.
What can DeepSeek’s AI bring to us? In education, DeepSeek’s AI can make learning more personalized for students by identifying strengths and weaknesses, providing study materials, and helping improve efficiency (效率). One major benefit is its ability to analyze (分析) large amounts of data quickly and accurately, which means students can receive timely feedback (反馈) and specially-designed learning plans. For example, when your teacher asks you to write a report about Wuhan, DeepSeek’s AI can help you find some useful information about this city in just a few seconds. DeepSeek’s AI can also help in healthcare by examining patients faster or in finance to help predict the market trends, thus enabling us to make the right decisions. All the things above show how this technology solves the real-world problems effectively.
________. First, over-reliance on this AI might reduce deep thinking ability, as students may depend on technology too much instead of solving problems independently. If the situation continues like this, our creativity and imagination will be greatly influenced. Besides, privacy (隐私) is another concern, because this AI system requires a lot of data and information, which could be misused if they are not properly protected. For example, in February 2025, DeepSeek was hit by a cyber-attack. The attackers stole a lot of users’ information. Additionally, this AI technology can be expensive, making it difficult for everyone to afford it, which may cause inequality.
DeepSeek’s AI offers many benefits, such as improving education and solving complex problems. However, as we all know, every coin has two sides, it also has its drawbacks, including potential (潜在的) over-reliance, privacy risks, and high costs. As students, it’s important to use such technology wisely and stay aware of its limitations. Balancing its advantages and disadvantages can help us make the most of AI in the future.
66.According to the passage, in which ways does DeepSeek’s AI help solve the real-world problems effectively?
① in treating the patient faster ② in predicting the market trends ③ in giving students quick feedback ④ in offering study materials ⑤ in doing homework for students
A.①②③ B.②③⑤ C.②③④ D.①②④
67.Which sentence can be put into ________?
A.DeepSeek’s AI can also influence our thinking ability.
B.The efficiency of DeepSeek’s AI really helps us a lot.
C.With DeepSeek’s AI, our life will be in a mess.
D.However, there are still downsides of DeepSeek’s AI.
68.Why is “cyber-attack” mentioned in paragraph 3?
A.To show that DeepSeek’s AI is popular among people.
B.To show that DeepSeek’s AI can always bring us troubles.
C.To show that DeepSeek’s AI can’t be protected properly.
D.To show that DeepSeek’s AI might put our privacy at risk.
69.According to the passage, which of the following about DeepSeek’s AI is true?
A.It can help identify students’ strong and weak points.
B.It can offer us useful information in a few hours.
C.It is affordable for every one of us.
D.Relying on it will reduce deep thinking ability.

When the traveler knew that he was going to Chu, he asked, “Chu is in the south. When can you arrive there if you go north?” The man didn’t care because his horse was the best and could run quickly. The traveler said, “Your horse is fast, but it will be farther and farther away from Chu in this direction. You will never reach Chu.” The man still didn’t worry about that because he took enough money and food. So the traveler said, “But you’re still going the wrong way.” The man said, “It doesn’t matter. 【导语】本文讲述商人Blake Miller陪父亲去餐厅就餐,听到小提琴演奏勾起年少练琴回忆,感悟人生没有“如果”,要珍惜当下所拥有的哲理小故事,每个选择都自有它的意义。
【详解】41.句意:Blake Miller是一位忙碌的商人。有一天,他设法抽出一些时间,和父亲一起去一家很棒的餐厅。
空后to spare some time“抽出时间”,结合前文a busy businessman很忙,managed to do设法做成某事符合语境。
空处搭配with all her heart全心全意,是固定短语。

put up“张贴/搭建”、take up“开始从事”、get up“起床”,语义和故事转折逻辑相反。

67.文章第三段“First, over-reliance on this AI might reduce deep thinking ability…Besides, privacy (隐私) is another concern…Additionally, this AI technology can be expensive…” D项“However, there are still downsides of DeepSeek’s AI.”
68.文章第三段“Besides, privacy (隐私) is another concern…For example, in February 2025, DeepSeek was hit by a cyber-attack.”
