A
In the past, most Chinese people rode a bicycle or walked for short trips. As time went by, buses and trains became common for longer trips.
Today, China's highspeed trains are some of the quickest in the world. The first highspeed train in China started running in 2008. By 2024, China had built about 48,000 kilometres of highspeed train lines. This helps workers find jobs in different places.
In cities, subways help people move around quickly. Thanks to these developments, more cities have built their own subways. China's first subway opened in Beijing in 1981, and by 2024 more than 40 cities had built subways.
In the countryside, new roads reach many villages. Farmers can now send their agricultural(农业的)products to markets much faster. In mountain areas, workers have built roads through mountains and bridges over rivers.
All these changes, from bicycles to highspeed trains, make travelling easier and help our country grow stronger.

People began to live near each other. And so the first villages grew. Many people came to work in the villages. These villages grew bigger and bigger.
