一、动词-ing形式作主语
动词-ing形式作主语时，多表示经常性、习惯性的动作，谓语动词多用单数形式。
①Treating animals with kindness and respect is a virtue that everyone should have. (2026·浙江1月卷)
善待并尊重动物是每个人都应具备的美德。
②Learning about the importance of protecting our environment left me feeling inspired to do my part.
了解到保护环境的重要性，我很受鼓舞，要尽自己的一份力量。
③Creating buildings such as these enables us to live in closer harmony with our environment.(外研选三U5)
创造这样的建筑使我们能够与我们的环境更加和谐地相处。

1．单个的动词-ing形式作主语时，谓语动词用单数。
Having the chance to write and publish articles has helped me develop my writing skills.
有机会写作和发表文章帮助我提高了写作技巧。
2．意义不同的两个动词-ing形式并列作主语时，谓语动词用复数形式。
Preparing for classes in advance and taking notes during lectures are helpful.

二、用it作形式主语代替动词-ing形式
为保持句子平衡，可用it作形式主语，而将动词-ing形式放在句末，其逻辑主语泛指人们。常用于：It is…＋doing sth句式荟萃
1．It is＋形容词＋doing sth
It is/feels funny doing sth做某事(感觉)很有趣
It is useless doing sth做某事是无用的
It is worthwhile doing sth做某事是值得的
①It is useless complaining without taking action, for only practical efforts can solve real problems.

2．It is a waste of time doing sth做某事是浪费时间
In my opinion，it is a waste of time explaining the meaning of my name to them.
在我看来，跟他们解释我名字的含义纯属浪费时间。
3．It is no＋名词＋doing sth
It is no good/no use/no fun/no pleasure doing sth做某事没好处/没用/没意思/没乐趣
Actually, I understand it's very painful, but it's no use getting upset about it all day long.事实上，我知道这很痛苦，但整日为它难过是没有用的。

三、动词-ing形式的复合结构
动词-ing的复合结构作主语的构成：名词所有格或形容词性物主代词＋动词-ing。
①The president's attending the meeting himself gave them a great deal of encouragement.
总统出席会议给了他们很大的鼓舞。
②His coming made me quite glad and we chatted excitedly for over an hour.
他的到来让我非常高兴，我们兴奋地聊了一个多小时。
③His being admitted to Peking University made all of us excited.他被北京大学录取使我们大家都很兴奋。
