A 19. C 20. B
W: Some customers go online shopping to save time and hunt for bargains, while others enjoy comparing various products before placing orders. But a recent survey finds that more and more customers are becoming cautious about online shopping. Some shoppers say online shopping may lead to mindless consumption, and some experts say unreliable sellers may leak personal information. Meanwhile, there are more attractive offline sales activities, making some people believe that they don’t need to shop online frequently. Unexpectedly, the number of frequent online shoppers in the United States has dropped by 37 percent since 2020. During the same period, delivery fees for online purchases in the United States skyrocketed. Many international shipping services can even cost £390 per order. However, local delivery services cost, on average, even less than $40 per order. Moreover, researchers are remotely interviewing consumption experts about their views related to online shopping rules.

Three Free Movie Websites for Your In-Home Movie Night
It’s no secret that paid TV services are expensive and often come with many unnecessary extra charges. There are plenty of free movie websites for you to access that will replace those paid services, so there’s no need to stress about missing out on your favorite or must-see movies at a high cost.
Website’s name
Profile
Popcornflix
Popcornflix features a smooth, easy-to-use interface (界面), and you don’t have to create an account. Families will also like PopcornflixKids. However, you can only choose from 52 options for stand-up comedy specials, and 12 of them are actually old Gallagher routines. Plus, you’ll have to watch advertisements every 15 minutes, and the video quality is somewhat poor.
Facebook Watch
Facebook Watch often winds up being a mix of random videos, but you can find some novel treasures. Like YouTube, users and brands of Facebook Watch can create and upload their own videos. It also hosts some original shows. Therefore, don’t expect to find any full-length movies on here. You will need a Facebook account to view these shows.
Tubi
Tubi features over 12,000 movies and TV shows to watch. It’s also relatively easy to explore niche topics (小众话题), such as “Full Moon Features”. Tubi makes profits by showing advertisements throughout the movies. While there are plenty of movies to watch, don’t expect to find a ton of newer, high-dollar productions.
Note: You are expected to take each free site’s pros and cons into account and then you can pick one according to your own needs.
21. What might be a disadvantage of Popcornflix?
A. It ignores kids’ needs. B. It freezes occasionally.
C. It requires registration. D. It advertises regularly.
22. What is special about Facebook Watch?
A. It charges extra fees. B. It features novelty.
C. It targets video games. D. It keeps most users and brands.

B
From the first time I picked up a paintbrush at the age of 4, I was immediately spellbound by the world of art-making. Then, when I was 8, my mom suggested enrolling me in weekend art classes. Excited to try different styles, I counted down the days until I could learn from a real art teacher. On the first day of class, the teacher emphasized perfectly replicating other works and wanted everyone to draw what was shown. As a consequence, I grew upset with my attempts because it seemed my circles and lines could never be as precise as the original images.
One week later, the teacher had us draw a New Year’s greeting card featuring cartoon-like smiling sheep holding up bubbles with “2015” inside. Happy with my work, I held up my paper. However, instead of acknowledging my effort, the teacher circled my mistakes with a red marker. I was proud of my drawing, and it hurt to see it covered in big red marks. I often heard the teacher tell senior students that art was a competition judged merely by technical mastery, and she also kept reminding us that someone would always be better.
Gradually, the class felt like a hopeless race, exhausting my enthusiasm completely. Two months later, I asked my mom to take me out of the art class. My mom helped me rebuild confidence after my art class experience. She encouraged me to continue drawing and bought me books about other art forms. She thought that if charcoal (炭笔) and pencils weren’t my style, something that would bring my creativity back would inspire me again. Though she wasn’t into drawing herself, she quickly became my art instructor.
Slowly but surely, I unlearned what my art teacher had taught me. Instead of trying to make perfect replicas of others’ work, I learned to create art for myself, and I took time to explore what worked for me and what didn’t.
24. What does the underlined word “replicating” mean in paragraph 1?
A. Publishing. B. Promoting. C. Copying. D. Classifying.
25. Which of the following might the art teacher agree with?
A. Artists should form their own distinct styles.
B. Art creation comes from personal experiences.
C. Creative ideas count more than basic training.
D. Artistic achievement relies on skilled methods.
26. Why did the author quit the art class?
A. She needed more professional instructors.
B. She failed to meet the teacher’s standards.
C. She found it hard to create original works.
D. She lost all her passion for artistic creation.
27. Which saying best reflects the main idea of the passage?
A. All is well that ends well. B. The style is the man himself.
C. Two wrongs don’t make a right. D. You can’t judge a book by its cover.
C 25. D 26. D 27. B
根据第一段“On the first day of class, the teacher emphasized perfectly replicating other works and wanted everyone to draw what was shown(上课第一天,老师强调要完美replicating他人作品,要求所有人照着展示的内容作画)”可知,老师要求照着范本作画,replicating表达“复制,临摹”的含义,对应C选项Copying(复制)。
根据第二段“I often heard the teacher tell senior students that art was a competition judged merely by technical mastery, and she also kept reminding us that someone would always be better(我经常听到老师对高年级学生说,艺术是一场仅以技法掌握程度评判的竞赛,她还不断提醒我们总有人会更加优秀)”可知,这位美术老师认为艺术成就依靠娴熟的技法。
根据第三段“Gradually, the class felt like a hopeless race, exhausting my enthusiasm completely. Two months later, I asked my mom to take me out of the art class(渐渐地,这门课就像一场没有希望的竞赛,彻底耗尽了我的热情。两个月后,我请求妈妈帮我退出美术课)”可知,作者退出美术课是因为对艺术创作完全失去热情。
【27题详解】
主旨大意题。根据最后一段“Instead of trying to make perfect replicas of others’ work, I learned to create art for myself, and I took time to explore what worked for me and what didn’t(我不再一味复刻他人作品,学会为自己创作艺术,探索适合自己的创作方式)”可知,文章核心是艺术不必一味模仿复刻,艺术应当彰显创作者本身,B选项“The style is the man himself(风格如其人)”契合文章主旨。
C
Ask someone if they have regrets, and very few people will say: “I wish I had spent more of my life commuting (通勤).” The commuting time tends to be neither relaxing nor productive. It’s usually routine and sometimes unpleasant: anything that involves loads of traffic and long travel time is hard to enjoy.
In popular culture, many works describe the monotony (单调) of commute. “Commuting becomes a trap” (Exit 8), “a window on the real action” (The Girl on the Train) or “a commentary on the softness of modern society” (The War of the Worlds). So when people are surveyed about their perfect commute time, the unsurprising answer tends to be “shorter”. On average, people spend about an hour a day commuting. But whether the time is long or not, they want to cut that total roughly in half.
A study published last year by Jonas De Vos of University College London into the commuting preferences of over 2,000 students and staff at the university is typical. The average actual commute time was 54 minutes one way; the average ideal time was 31 minutes. Notably, ideals vary depending on how someone gets to work: a person who is on a train for an hour, for example, imagines a commute that is much longer than the commute of someone with a 30-minute bike ride.
While no one wants to spend more of their life commuting, it can have benefits. De Vos asked people what was the maximum commute length they can tolerate. This was more than the length of their current commute, suggesting some awareness of the benefits of tolerating long travel times: lower housing costs, better facilities close to home and a greater choice of employer. Furthermore, the journey to and from the office is a handy way to get prepared for the working day or to wind down from it. Active modes of travel like cycling and walking are correlated with greater well-being than sitting in a car.
28. What phenomenon is pointed out in the first paragraph?
A. Working stress ruins people’s mind. B. People fail to bear commuting time.
C. Traffic jam wears people’s patience. D. Ways of transport are changing fast.
29. What is the function of the quoted statements in paragraph 2?
A. Giving examples. B. Offering data. C. Making contrasts. D. Analyzing causes.
30. What did De Vos’ study focus on?
A. People’s favour of convenient workplaces.
B. People’s declining enthusiasm for present work.
C. The gap between desired and real commute time.
D. The sudden emergence of new commuting ways.
31. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Pros and Cons of Commuting B. Shorter Commute, Fuller Life
C. Lifestyle Shifts in Current Era D. Fixed Path, Public Perception
B 29. A 30. C 31. A
根据第一段“The commuting time tends to be neither relaxing nor productive. It’s usually routine and sometimes unpleasant: anything that involves loads of traffic and long travel time is hard to enjoy. (通勤时间往往既不令人放松也不高效。它通常是例行公事,有时还令人不愉快:任何涉及大量交通和漫长旅行时间的事情都很难享受。)”可知,第一段主要描述了通勤时间通常令人感到单调、不愉快,人们很难忍受这种通勤时间。由此可知,第一段指出的现象是人们无法忍受通勤时间。
【29题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段“In popular culture, many works describe the monotony (单调) of commute. “Commuting becomes a trap” (Exit 8), “a window on the real action” (The Girl on the Train) or “a commentary on the softness of modern society” (The War of the Worlds).(在流行文化中,许多作品描述了通勤的单调性。“通勤变成了一种陷阱”(《8号出口》),“一扇窥见真实行动的窗户”(《火车上的女孩》),或者“对现代社会软弱的评论”(《世界大战》)。)”可知,作者引用了三部流行文化作品中对通勤的描述,这些引用是为了举例说明通勤的单调性这一观点。由此可推断,第二段中引用这些语句是为了举例说明。
【30题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段“The average actual commute time was 54 minutes one way; the average ideal time was 31 minutes. (平均实际通勤时间为单程54分钟;平均理想时间为31分钟。)”可知,De Vos的研究对比了人们实际的通勤时间和理想的通勤时间,两者之间存在明显差距。由此可知,De Vos的研究关注的是理想通勤时间与实际通勤时间之间的差距。
【31题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第一段“The commuting time tends to be neither relaxing nor productive. (通勤时间往往既不令人放松也不高效。)”以及第四段“While no one wants to spend more of their life commuting, it can have benefits.(虽然没有人想花更多的时间在通勤上,但它也有好处。)”
D
Walk into a standard supermarket and you’ll quickly be presented with a wide range of unhealthy, ultra-processed (超加工的) options which are often too inviting to ignore. In fact, many leading experts say the food environment — such as the way food is produced, marketed and sold — is influencing consumers to make unhealthy choices.
The food environment itself is part of the problem, much of which is designed to prioritize profit. Franco Sassi, a researcher at Imperial College, said that while individuals feel as though they can choose what they buy and eat, the evidence paints a distinct picture.
What makes this particularly troubling is that ultra-processed foods (UPFs) are adjusted by producers to make them as irresistible as possible. This is despite the increasing understanding of the link between UPFs and negative health outcomes.
Stating this clearly on food labels can drive behavioral change. In 2016, Chile introduced black warning labels for food high in sugar, salt or calories, leading to a 23.8% drop in purchases of high-calorie products. Likewise, many European countries adopt the “Nutri-score”, a front-of-pack labeling system originating in France. It uses colored letters ranging from the healthiest dark green A to the least healthy red E, designed to help consumers make better-informed food choices.
The Nutri-score came about after several large-scale studies by nutrition scientist Touvier and colleagues showing associations between nutritional quality and negative health outcomes, including cancer. This sparked widespread media debate, she says, leading to public perception that people “were being poisoned” by the food industry, which in turn increased pressure on food companies to make changes.
In response, some producers decreased the percentage of sugar in their products and shifted from refined grains to whole-grain flours. Supermarkets also promoted healthier products, which increased sales of “Nutri-score A” products and decreased sales of “E” products, says Touvier. Consequently, Nutri-score labelling has been shown to change consumer behavior too.
32. What does Franco Sassi imply?
A. Food markets ignore economic benefits.
B. Consumers lack freedom in food selection.
C. Shoppers have some knowledge of food risks.
D. Scientific evidence contradicts experts’ views.
33. What are UPFs specially made to do?
A. Lower market costs. B. Reduce health risks.
C. Lift nutritional values. D. Draw more customers.
34. What can we know about the measures mentioned in paragraph 4?
A. They cease selling unhealthy foods.
B. They use the same grading standards.
C. They adopt striking marks to warn people.
D. They force people to buy nutritious foods.
35. What does the last paragraph show about the Nutri-score?
A. Its chain effect. B. Its future trend. C. Its design purpose. D. Its wide popularity.
B 33. D 34. C 35. A
根据第二段中“Franco Sassi, a researcher at Imperial College, said that while individuals feel as though they can choose what they buy and eat, the evidence paints a distinct picture. (帝国理工学院研究员佛朗哥・萨西表示,尽管人们觉得自己可以自主选择购买和食用的食物,但证据展现出截然不同的实际情况)”可知,佛朗哥・萨西暗示的意思是消费者其实并没有真正自由的食品选择权。
【33题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“What makes this particularly troubling is that ultra-processed foods (UPFs) are adjusted by producers to make them as irresistible as possible(令人尤其不安的是,超加工食品被生产商加以调整,使它们尽可能让人无法抗拒)”可知,生产商对超加工食品进行调整,目的是让食品极度诱人,吸引更多顾客。
根据第四段中“In 2016, Chile introduced black warning labels for food high in sugar, salt or calories, leading to a 23.8% drop in purchases of high-calorie products. Likewise, many European countries adopt the “Nutri-score”, a front-of-pack labeling system originating in France. It uses colored letters ranging from the healthiest dark green A to the least healthy red E, designed to help consumers make better-informed food choices.
根据最后一段中“In response, some producers decreased the percentage of sugar in their products and shifted from refined grains to whole-grain flours. Supermarkets also promoted healthier products, which increased sales of “Nutri-score A” products and decreased sales of “E” products (作为回应,一些生产商降低了产品中的糖含量,并把精制谷物换成全麦粉。超市还推广更健康的商品,这使“营养评分A”产品销量上升、“E”产品销量下降)”与“Consequently, Nutri-score labelling has been shown to change consumer behavior too. (因此,营养评分标签也被证明能改变消费者行为)”可知,本段先讲生产者改配方,再讲超市调陈列和销量变化,最后讲消费者行为被改变,展示的是“标签制度带来的连锁效应”。

第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Jacky grew up in an economically disadvantaged village surrounded by green mountains. Last year, he became one of the students in the village to be admitted into a famous university in a big city. He knew how vital education was for the village children, most of whom studied in local primary and middle schools, which had limited access to educational resources.
When the summer holiday of his first year at university came, Jacky went back home. One afternoon, a group of children ran to him, their eyes full of curiosity. “Brother Jacky, is university fun?” asked Peter, a 10-year-old boy with a big smile. “What’s life like in the big city? Is it as exciting as the stories say?” added Peter, holding a tattered (破旧的) notebook.
Jacky sat on the stone bench and talked to them patiently. He told them about the big libraries with thousands of books, the bright classrooms with modern computers, and the interesting club events like painting and music. The children listened carefully, their eyes shining with hope. “I want to go to university too!” Peter shouted excitedly. “Me too! I want to see the big city!” others cried out.
But soon, some children lowered their heads and sighed. “Our school is not good,” said Coco quietly. “The teachers don’t know much about the outside world. We can’t catch up with the kids in the city.” Jacky felt a pang (悲痛) in his heart. He thought for a moment — maybe he could help. He decided to use his holidays to give free lessons to the children. But he knew his strengths were insufficient; he was good at math and English, but not at art or science. Suddenly, an idea popped into his head: there were other university students from the village. Why not persuade them to participate in this rewarding work?
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
The next day, Jacky visited other university students in the village.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
The next day, Jacky visited other university students in the village. He told them about the children’s desire for knowledge and the lack of local educational resources here, earnestly inviting them to join the free tutoring. To his delight, everyone nodded without hesitation. All students volunteered to share knowledge in their own fields. They quickly decided to use the empty village committee room as their classroom. Upon hearing the news, the kids rushed over with their tattered notebooks, their faces lighting up with excitement.
Day by day, the kids smiled more brightly and became more confident. In various classes, the students brought rich and interesting content to attract children. The art-major student guided them to paint green mountains, while the science-major student showed them simple and fun experiments. Jacky also used creative games that bridge d the gap between boring knowledge and vivid practice to make English more engaging. One afternoon, Peter showed Jacky a painting of a big university with the words “My Dream” written below. Jacky knew that he was planting seeds of hope in these children's hearts, which would ultimately grow into big trees.
