根据上文“Bright lights from parks and buildings can easily confuse ______ birds”可知,此处是特指前文提到的“migrating birds”(候鸟),应用定冠词the表特指。
to“到”,of“……
固定结构“both...and...”
固定结构“a way for sb. to do sth.”
III.
In recent years, we often see online tables made of top-to-bottom rows (行). People list everything in these tables, from Jay Chou’s songs to emojis on apps and many other daily topics. This kind of table is called a “tier (层级) list”.
In China, tier lists usually have five tiers. Standing at the ____11____ is the powerful-sounding “hang”, while at the very bottom is the “la wan le”, or ____12____ “la”. So people say “from hang to la”, which means ranking (排列) things from “the best of the best” to “the worst”.
This “tier list culture” is not unique to China. It’s everywhere in the world. ____13____ China, people mostly use letters like S, A, B and C for ranking. Early tier lists had ____14____ tiers from S to F, but many cut out E and F to make it simple. The tiers system that ____15____ is the perfect match for the Chinese tier list.
Tier lists are not unchangeable. Some people use “god” for the S-tier, and different choices for the A-tier come next, such as “could beat a god” or “great”. Actually, we can make our own tier list. Besides naming our own tiers, we can even ____16____ more rows to our table if five tiers are not enough.
Tier lists are in fashion ____17____ it’s how the human brain works. We don’t see things as a ____18____ item (物品) but prefer to group them. It offers us a shortcut (捷径) to know what’s the best and what we should avoid. It’s also a good starting point for a ____19____, whether we agree or disagree with a certain opinion. At the end of the day, it’s a moment of joy for ____20____.
11. A. key B. top C. right D. middle

B 12. C 13. C 14. B 15. B 16. D 17. A 18. C 19. B 20. B
根据后文“while at the very bottom is…”
根据“‘la wan le’, or…
根据前文“This ‘tier list culture’ is not unique to China.”(这种文化并非中国独有)以及后文使用字母排名,可知这是指中国之外的情况。In“在……
根据常识顺序,从S到F(S, A, B, C, D, E, F)一共是七个字母,代表七个层级。
根据前文“many cut out E and F”可知,去掉了E和F,剩下的(保留下来的)正好是五个层级,与中国的五个层级匹配。
根据“if five tiers are not enough”可知,如果不够,可以“增加”更多行,add…to…
根据后文“whether we agree or disagree with a certain opinion”(无论我们是同意还是不同意某个观点)可知,同意或不同意会引发“讨论”。
文章通篇使用的是第一人称复数“we”,如“we often see…”, “we can make our own…”,因此这里也应指代“我们”,作介词for的宾语用宾格us。

“To be or not to be, that is the question.” You may know this line comes from Hamlet, but you might not know it was written by William Shakespeare, one of the greatest English writers in history.
Shakespeare was born in 1564 in England. His family once lived a comfortable life, but later his father’s business failed. He had to leave school and make a living on his own. He moved to London and worked as a playwright for nearly 30 years. During this time, he created many world-famous works, including the four great comedies (喜剧) and four great tragedies (悲剧). Hamlet is among the four great tragedies.
Shakespeare has a great influence on the English language. First, he created more than 300 new words and many useful classic expressions. People still use them today. Second, his works talked about common ideas like love, hate and human troubles. That’s why they are translated into many languages. ▲ Before him, traditional plays only told simple moral (道德的) stories, but his works showed people’s true feelings. His new forms of drama set good examples to later playwrights.
William Shakespeare passed away at the age of 52. Surprisingly, the date of his death, 23rd April, was also his birthday. However, what caused his death still remains a mystery today. Each year around the 23rd April, the streets of Stratford-upon-Avon are always filled with music, songs and performers to honour the memory of William Shakespeare.
24. When did William Shakespeare die?
A. In 1564. B. In 1594. C. In 1616. D. In 1654.
25. Which sentence can be put in the “ ▲ ”?
A. Third, he changed Western plays a lot.
B. Besides, he once taught people how to perform.
C. Third, he preferred traditional plays to modern plays.
D. Besides, he wrote many great plays for London theatres.
26. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Shakespeare lived a comfortable life all the time.
B. Shakespeare’s classic expressions are still popular now.
C. People remember Shakespeare’s life every May.
D. People have found out the cause of Shakespeare’s death.
27. What’s the best title of the passage?
A. Career—Shakespeare’s Road of Creation B. Shakespeare—A Bright Star in Literature
C. A Hard Time—Shakespeare’s Childhood D. An Unknown Mystery—Shakespeare’s Death
C 25. A 26. B 27. B
根据第四段第一句“William Shakespeare passed away at the age of 52.”和第二段第一句“Shakespeare was born in 1564 in England.”
根据第三段内容,前两点分别讲他创造新词和作品主题普遍,而空后提到“Before him, traditional plays only told simple moral stories, but his works showed people’s true feelings. His new forms of drama set good examples to later playwrights.”,说明此处应介绍他对戏剧形式的革新,A项“Third, he changed Western plays a lot.”(第三,他极大地改变了西方戏剧)符合上下文逻辑。
根据第三段第二句“he created more than 300 new words and many useful classic expressions. People still use them today.” A项与第二段“his father’s business failed. He had to leave school and make a living on his own.”不符;C项与第四段“Each year around the 23rd April”而非“May”不符;D项与第四段“what caused his death still remains a mystery today”不符。
C
As a ten-year-old kid, I do ordinary things. I eat ice cream. I ride my bike. I play ball. Things like that make me ordinary. But I know ordinary kids don’t make other ordinary kids run away screaming on the sports field. I know ordinary kids don’t get stared at (被盯着看) wherever they go.
If I found a magic lamp and I could make a wish, I would wish that I had a normal face so no one would notice me at all. I would wish that when I could walk down the street, people wouldn’t look at me in a strange way and then walk away quickly. Here’s what I think: the only reason I’m not ordinary is that no one else sees me that way.
But now, I’m kind of used to how I look. I know how to pretend I don’t see the faces people make. We’ve all become pretty good at that kind of thing: me, Mom and Dad, and my sister Via. Actually, I take that back: Via’s not so good at it. She can get really annoyed when people do something rude. Like, for example, one time on the sports field, some older kids made some noises. I don’t even know what exactly the noises meant, but Via heard them and she just started shouting at the kids angrily. That’s the way she is. I’m not that way.
Via doesn’t see me as ordinary. She says she does, but if it’s true, she wouldn’t need to protect me so much. And Mom and Dad don’t see me as ordinary, either. They see me as extraordinary (非凡的). I think the only person in the world who realizes how ordinary I am is me.
My name is August, by the way. I won’t describe what I look like. Whatever you’re thinking, it’s probably worse.
— Adapted from Wonder
28. According to August, what ordinary things will an ordinary kid do?
A. Make other kids run away screaming.
B. Eat ice cream and ride a bike.
C. Get stared at wherever he goes.
D. Play unpleasant jokes on others.
29. Why does the writer mention August’s wish for a magic lamp?
A. To describe a fun game August enjoys in his free time.
B. To explain how magic can change people’s looks.
C. To show August’s strong wish for a common life.
D. To tell us August expects expensive gifts very much.
30. Which of the following situations can most probably make you feel annoyed?
A. Your pet has died because of an illness.
B. You have got good grades in the final exam.
C. Your friend has told your hidden secret to others.
D. You have received a gift you really wanted for long.
31. According to the passage, which opinion would August agree with?
A. One should shout back when others are rude to you.
B. A magic lamp can solve all of one’s life problems.
C. People must look normal to have a happy life.
D. Sometimes others’ eyes make a person seem different.
B 29. C 30. C 31. D
根据第一段中“As a ten-year-old kid, I do ordinary things. I eat ice cream. I ride my bike. I play ball.”
根据第二段中“If I found a magic lamp and I could make a wish, I would wish that I had a normal face so no one would notice me at all.”
根据第三段中“She can get really annoyed when people do something rude.”
根据第二段中“Here’s what I think: the only reason I’m not ordinary is that no one else sees me that way.”
D
①Do you think plants are boring? Think again. They may not run or jump, but they can also do something amazing. In fact, they are much smarter than you expect.
②Scientists have already found that plants change as the environment changes. For example, when the sun shines, they grow toward sunlight; when insects get closer, they give out chemicals (化学物质) to stop insects from eating them. But can they learn from past experiences? To find out the answer, Gagliano did two experiments (实验).
③First, she tested a plant called mimosa (含羞草). Mimosa has a special skill: it quickly closes its leaves when people touch it. Gagliano wanted to know if mimosa could learn to stop closing when nothing dangerous happened. Gagliano dropped the mimosa many times without hurting it. At first, it closed leaves every time. But after falling several times, it stopped closing. Even a month later, it still did not close. This showed that mimosa can learn and remember.
④Next, Gagliano did a more surprising test with pea plants. Pea plants need sunlight to make food, so they grow toward light. Gagliano wanted to see if they could learn to connect a breeze,(微风)with light.
⑤On Day 1, Gagliano only turned on a fan,(风扇). The plants did not grow toward the breeze. So the breeze meant nothing to them. Then she started training. From Day 2 to Day 5, she shone a light on the plants and turned on the fan from the same direction. The light and the breeze came together. On Day 6, she took away the light and only used the fan. Without any light, most pea plants still grew toward the breeze. Pea plants learned to connect the breeze with light—and light means food.
⑥“Plants do learn from past experiences. How clever they are!” Gagliano said. She hopes the findings of her experiments can inspire more scientists to pay more attention to these little plants. After all, “We should not always look at our own way as the only one.”
32. How does the writer start the passage?
A. By telling a story. B. By asking a question.
C. By listing some numbers. D. By comparing the experiments.
33. Which of the following is NOT a finding of Gagliano’s two experiments?
A. Pea plants can connect breeze with light.
B. Plants can learn from the past experiences.
C. Plants change as the environment changes.
D. Mimosa won’t close its leaves after falling several times.
34. How does Gagliano carry out the pea plant experiment?
A. B.
C. D.
35. Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?
A. B.
C. D.
B 33. C 34. B 35. A

根据文中第一段“Do you think plants are boring? Think again.”

AI technology is almost everywhere in our daily lives and is developing faster than anyone expected. One of the hottest topics these days is: Should middle school students be allowed to use AI in their homework? Here are some of the ideas.
I’m Xu Mei, a teacher in a middle school. It’s true that AI is widely used now. Adults use AI at work to make tasks easier. Children also learn how to use AI in IT lessons at school. However, if students use AI to finish their homework, I will not be able to know their real learning progress. Also, students may depend on AI too much instead of solving problems themselves. They may think they can achieve success easily without hard work, and that is not good for them.
I’m Zhang Lin, a mother of a 14-year-old boy. In my family, AI is a great helper. It can help my son solve difficult math problems calmly and patiently, which improves the relationship between my child and me. But at the same time, I’m worried that my son may easily become crazy about it and can’t focus on study itself. Moreover, too much screen time will harm his physical health, especially the eyesight.
I’m Li Ming, a middle school student from Shanghai. We sometimes use AI when doing homework. I think...
41. Does the teacher agree that students can use AI to do their homework?
_______________________________________________________
42. How does AI help the mother improve the relationship with her son?
_______________________________________________________
43. What has in common between the teacher’s and the mother’s opinions?
_______________________________________________________
44. Imagine you are Li Ming, share your opinion about using AI for homework. (about 30 words)
_______________________________________________________
41. No./No, she doesn’t.
42. By helping her son solve difficult math problems calmly and patiently.
43. They both think AI is useful/a useful tool, but worry about its bad influence on students’ growth.
44. Answers may vary.
I think I can finish my homework better and more quickly with AI. It can even inspire my creativity in some school subjects, like art, music, geography, etc.
I think we can’t depend on AI too much. If we always use it to do homework, we will no longer think for ourselves. Also it is difficult to use AI only for homework.
根据第一段“However, if students use AI to finish their homework, I will not be able to know their real learning progress. Also, students may depend on AI too much instead of solving problems themselves.”
根据第二段“It can help my son solve difficult math problems calmly and patiently, which improves the relationship between my child and me.
根据第一段“...AI...to make tasks easier. Also, students may depend on AI too much instead of solving problems themselves.”和第二段“It can help..., which improves...But at the same time, I’m worried that my son may easily become crazy about it and can’t focus on study itself.”
VII.
45. I was so excited because I r________ a beautiful gift from my best friend.
结合“I was so excited”、“a beautiful gift”及首字母r可知,这里表示“收到礼物”,动作发生在过去,要用一般过去时,received“收到”,符合语境。
46. People with good m________ always say “thank you” when they receive help.
manners##anners
句中“say ‘thank you’ when they receive help”表明人们表现出有教养的行为,应填表示“礼貌;举止”含义的名词。
47. Even if we can’t be close friends, we shouldn’t be ________ (enemy).
enemies
48. This art museum is worth ________ (visit) because it collects many excellent paintings.
49. My parents ________ (marry) since twenty years ago.
have been married
时间状语since twenty years ago是现在完成时的标志;marry是短暂性动词,不能和时间段连用,需要转换为延续性状态be married,主语my parents为复数,现在完成时结构为have been married。

划线部分for half a year表示一段时间。
根据所给词汇,If引导条件状语从句放在句首,want to become a volunteer是从句内容,sign up online是主句(祈使句)。 If you want to become a volunteer, sign up online/Sign up online if you want to become a volunteer。
IX.
Open your mouth, and out comes “bao de”, “na za le”. Try to write an essay; all you can think of is “yyds” and “jue jue zi”. These memes, or “geng”, from social media are pouring into students’ daily lives, and this causes the overuse of them.
Why do students overuse memes? On the one hand, they are everywhere—on short videos, bullet screens (弹幕), and social media, so it’s hard for us to keep away from them. On the other hand, using popular memes makes you feel that you belong to a group. If you don’t know the newest ones, you might feel left out (被孤立).
However, not all the memes are meaningful. The overuse of those low-quality ones, known as lame memes (烂梗), will lead to problems.
Overusing these lame memes will make it difficult for you to use beautiful expressions. When enjoying the amazing sunset, you can only say “jue jue zi”; when feeling sad, the only expression that comes to your mind is “emo le”. However, this kind of poor expressions is not even the worst. Sometimes, these lame memes can do harm to others mentally. For example, when someone makes a silly mistake, you will hear “tang” at once. You might not consider it as a big deal, but it is really hurtful to people with that illness.
To avoid overusing lame memes, you should focus on reading more classics. Also, don’t spread lame memes anymore. Instead, try your best to share as many beautiful expressions as possible in your daily life.
Remember, your words have power. Use them well.
The passage is mainly about ____55____ overusing memes, the problems in overusing lame ones and the tips on avoiding using them. It’s difficult for students to stay away from memes. On the one hand, their lives are ____56____ memes. On the other hand, using popular ones gives them a sense of belonging. But if students overuse those lame memes, they will ____57____ wonderful expressions. Besides, lame memes like “tang” do harm to the sick people. To solve the problem, ____58____ instead of spreading lame memes. Words have power.
the reasons for
56.
full of##filled with
57.
have difficulty using
58.
share beautiful expressions
根据文章第2段“Why do students overuse memes?” 结合概要中后文的“the problems... and the tips...” 故填the reasons for。
根据文章第2段“On the one hand, they are everywhere”可推知,学生的生活中充满了梗。此处是固定词组be full of/be filled with“充满……”。故填full of/filled with。
根据文章第4段“overusing these lame memes will make it difficult for you to use beautiful expressions”可推知,学生将难以使用美妙的表达。此处使用固定词组:have difficulty (in) doing sth“在做某事方面困难”,will后跟动词原形。故填have difficulty using。
根据文章第5段“Instead, try your best to share as many beautiful expressions as possible in your daily life”可推知,解决方法是分享优美表达而不是传播烂梗。

A. B.

I think...
